Since I've joined PinPoint Training facility, personal trainer Shakina McNeal has shown me that at the age of 66 and after 12 major surgeries, you CAN get in shape and feel amazing. She has a way of not letting you give up with her constant encouraging and motivating personality. Her knowledge of nutrition and physical training has helped me start loosing weight and gain muscle after two recent hip replacements. She pays attention to the detail to maximize your workout. Love this place! Was intimidated about trying cold plunge but these folks were real pros. Attended a workshop where they walked us all the way through the benefits of hot and cold therapy, why we should do it, and the direct impact on our health and the way our bodies feel everyday. They prepared us mentally and even walked us through a group breath session to get us in the right mind space to handle the challenge. When it came time to do the cold plunge we handled it cool calm and collected. Hats off to the staff at Pinpoint let by Shakina. She cares about her clients and her team delivers. Getting excellent results with the individual training twice a week and open gym three times a week. The new facility is very well equipped and the staff are wonderful. It is a very safe and welcoming environment for my wife and I. We are in our sixties and both have had injuries that makes this kind of training potentially quite tricky. Normally I like to leave positive Yelp reviews but my experience with Shakina at Pinpoint was not a positive one. When I first went in to sign up, Shakina came off friendly and I was excited to train with her but soon there after I started working out with her I realized that she was not only pushy with wanting referrals and asking for Yelp and Google reviews but also the workouts were such that I could do and did on my own at home (very basic) and they were not worth the amount of money that I paid up front to have. (I did tell her that I was looking for more of harder workout and she told me that I could pay more for an hour workout) I stuck with it, committed and going to each scheduled session but came soon to find out that Shakina was flaky, there was one reason after another that she had to cancel last minute with me for several sessions that I had scheduled but I wrote it off and showed her empathy with the reasons as to why she kept missing session after session with me. It was almost like I knew/expected that every Monday and Friday morning I would get a text in the morning that she couldn't make our session. It wasn't until I knew that I had a meeting at work come up a week in advance and I asked her if we could move one of my one sessions and the tone/attitude she had with me took me aback and I was completely turned off on ever working with her again. She had the audacity to tell me that I needed to keep the session I scheduled and that to me was the last straw, especially because I had never missed a session with her due to my doing. I then told her that I no longer wanted to return to Pinpoint and wanted a refund from all the $$$ (thousands of dollars) that I paid upfront. She refused and told me she doesn't do refunds and I said I never saw a policy that said that and she said that she only supplies the refund policy if a customer asks for it!!!! I have never heard of a more unprofessional working ethic or establishment, definitely poor business on her part. She told me that she would credit me for someone else to use it and I thought to myself I would never refer anyone I knew there and that was not going to work for me. I reached out again later to her to give her an opportunity to rectify her poor business handlings with me and she disregarded my fair message. I post this review only to make those interested in joining Pinpoint and working out with a Shakina aware of how she handles her business and the quality of her workouts. I came to Shakina, owner and creator of PinPoint Training Facility, in 2016 through the recommendation of a friend who had seen great results with her. At this time, I was in constant, severe hip and back pain due to a car accident. I was also malnourished due to an improper vegan diet. My spirit was low, and I didn't imagine I would ever return to the joyful athleticism of my early 20's. Then, I met Shakina, and things instantly shifted. Shakina is a true Wonder Woman who lovingly inspires and helps others to reach their full potential. She assessed my particular needs (injury rehab and a balanced vegan diet) and quickly provided me with a proprietary vegan meal plan and a course of physical rehab. I also jumped into her group classes three times a week. The loving PinPoint community really helped me to overcome my fear of pain and reinjury. Within a few months of sweat, laughs, and renewed energy due to proper nutrition, I was able to take up Samba classes-- something I would have thought impossible due to pain just a few months prior. Shakina became not just a healer whom I respected professionally, but a true friend. She was always available for consultations, be it about fitness or life issues. She has the gift of seeing the holistic side of health while zeroing in on particular lifestyle changes that her clients can make. I witnessed her magic not just in my own life, but also in the glowing faces of my PinPoint peers. She healed not just my hip, but my spirit. I am so committed to Shakina's guidance and philosophy that I continued to train with her even after moving a continent away to Spain. Some might think that the distance would hamper the training process, but Shakina's remote training is just as on point. With weekly phone check-ins, Shakina kept me on track. She provided me with a great workout program that I could follow myself. I have seen even greater strides in my strength, and I am nearly pain free. Most recently, she provided me with even more valuable nutritional information in the form of a vegan ketogenic meal plan and guide. I cut 10 pounds while gaining muscle. I continue to see improvement at the gym every day. I can honestly say that I have regained the levels of fitness and joy in working out that I knew in my early 20's. I am a healthy, fit 74 year old woman but am on the verge of osteoporosis. Having read that weight training could forestall and possibly reverse my bone loss I came to Shakina to work with me. Among many other skills, she is certified in working with Seniors for bone density issues. Shakina is a joy to work with. She is enthusiastic and creative. She makes every training session fun, unique and different from the last. Her enthusiasm is contagious and very motivating. I look forward to my twice weekly private training sessions. After only three months I am considerably stronger and can already see changes in the definition in some of my muscle groups. I met Shakina a few months ago when she first opened her facility. I didn't realize how knowledgeable and resourceful she is. I started taking a dance class that required a lot of upper body. I was discouraged and frustrated because I was behind the first week in class. I joined PinPoint in Oct 2018 when I was at an all-time low both physically and emotionally. Shakina showed me patience and understanding as I was trying to build back up. Shakina's methods are life-changing! I felt hopeless after months of physical therapy, chiropractors and doctor appointments. I was convinced the pain and limited mobility was my way of life. I even started picking out wheelchairs! I've never had much success with other trainers.
