Very good indian food restaurant. I live pretty close to this restaurant and have tried a lot of different indian restaurants before but this one is my favorite. Clean, fresh flavor with a fusion of spices and good nose. I love the fact of the carry out service and friendly staff. They even have a nice long bar with wine and other drinks. Usually we have a pretty good experience with Swad, but lately it has been sub par. Ordered online from Grub Hub tonight and they shorted us 2 orders of naan. Then both our meals were extremely spicy, and my husbands Chicken Vindaloo didn't have any potatoes (my husband got a level 2 and I asked for no spice; Mine was more like a 2 or 3 and his was more like a 6). When we called back after we took our meals out of the bag to say we were shorted 2 orders of naan, they said they would deliver it in 10 minutes. Once they delivered it we were questioned about our order, and had to show the driver our Grub Hub order on our phone and the receipt that was brought with our meal. After all that our 2 orders of naan was still not right - they gave us garlic instead of regular (we won't have to worry about vampires tonight!). Normally we don't say anything but when you are paying close to $40 for dinner you expect that it would be pretty much how you ordered. We'll be laying low from ordering from Swad for a while. read more

After reading such great reviews of this place I was excited to try it, as I just moved to this area. My two friends and I came in for dinner. We arrived at 9:10 and the waiter sat us but told us as we were sitting down that "closing time is as 10 ok, we close at 10", which we were aware of already. I have worked in restaurants and nearly an hour is plenty of time to eat and go before closing, so this came off as very rude. He seemed annoyed by our presence the entire time and dropped stuff off at the table in passing, never asking if we needed anything. When we got our food all three of our waters were empty, which he didn't refill through the entire meal. He stared at us and appeared to be talking about us from a door by the kitchen while we ate. After we asked for boxes at 940 he dropped the check on the table and walked away. We asked him to split the check and he said "well you'll have to go to the counter to pay then." We walked to the counter with our wallets and the check, leaving our food boxes and purses, and the waiter came over and started moving our things onto the bar to clean the table! We ate quickly as we felt judged and rushed and still had 15 minutes before closing but this man insisted on moving our things! I have to say I did like the food here but after service like that I just cannot go back. read more

Jai India is closest to my home and I loved this restaurant until I went to Swad restaurant on Galbraith. Aloo bhatura should have mildly spiced potatoes. Jai India, you can't taste or see any evidence of mildly spiced potatoes at Swad you get aloo bhatura as described and WOW! It's delicious! Chicken curry... at Jai India Restaurant you getwayyyy less and good luck finding any chicken. At Swad India you get a much larger portion and guess what... so many large chunks of chicken you won't find at Jai India Restaurant (for exactly the same price). Swad has much more flavor. Also if you order to go or delivery at Jai they will not give you the sauces or extras you ask for but Swad does without question or arguments unlike Jai you get arguments even if you say you'll pay extra. (I delt with this a few times a week with Jai until I found Swad!) I love Indian food sooo much I will order from Jai but ONLY WHEN I can't get Swad restaurant on Galbraith delivered. read more

Ok I feel I should update here, Maya and Avtar sold AGAIN! And true to form the new ownership at SWAD is a solid 2 steps short. They've messed up orders twice and I can tastes a decline in the food. The manager Amy just laughs when they botch an order. So sad. read more

We just ordered takeout from Swad. First impression is really impressed. The atmosphere is casual but looks nice inside and the AC was great. The menu is huge, so many choices. The food is really excellent, and very lovely subtleties to the flavors. They accepted the coupon and then also have it back to me to use a second time later. We are very impressed. read more

This had some of the worst service I have ever had. They didn't ever ask if we wanted beverages or desserts, only "are you ready?" They brought nothing for my daughter--no plates, no silverware, no napkin, nothing. One of the servers wore a shirt that said, "sorry not my problem," and that clearly indicated the whole attitude of the restaurant. We live in White Oak and Swad delivered to our house! We were so excited. And everything was hot, fresh, delicious, and delivered in about 40 minutes! We ordered Chicken Tikka, Saag Paneer, Tandoori Chicken, and the regular and garlic naan. Everything was completely delicious and tasted like we were eating in the restaurant. We had an early dinner of 4 people. Waitstaff was not a problem. All food was brought out in a reasonable time. We got an assortment of dishes. Everything was very good. Our vacationing guest from Pakistan approved as well. Two others were having Indian food for the first time and was very happy with the food. I live very close to Swad and when they opened I was so excited to have a wonderful Indian restaurant nearby. From what I understand the family that opened the restaurant has sold it...I cannot confirm or deny but I can say that the last 3 times I went I was terribly disappointed. On one of those visits I went to the lunch buffet. I am not a huge fan of Indian buffets in general, so the overall lack of freshness and spice was not unexpected. Following this I went back twice for dinner and was just unhappy with the meal. Before I go on, I will say the food is decent as far as Indian food. But mediocre Indian food is all over town. The food lacks robust flavors. I tried all of my companions dishes as well, wondering if it was just my dinner but alas, everything just had the same bland flavors.
