I'm ashamed to say I've slept on this place for years, and I've literally walked by thousands of times. In just about every aspect of my life, I try and support local businesses over the ever-increasingly dominant chain corporations that are taking over our lives. For some reason, that didn't extend to prescriptions. Until now. SVRH is better in every single way than the soulless corporate pharmacy we used to go to. (I'm not going to name names, but it rhymes with DVS.) First and most importantly, they actually have the prescription drugs that my children need when they get very ill. In stock. Ready to roll, without a wait. I'm not sure how or why they have a better stock than a major corporation, but they do. Secondly, you get to talk to actual humans. Instead of pressing a bunch of numbers to try and get my problem solved when I call in, until I inevitably scream "REPRESENTATIVE!" at the phone, I called SVRH and an actual human being answered. And she answered my question quickly, without having to consult another human or put me on hold for 20 minutes until she came back with a non-answer. Thirdly, when you go in, you get to see and experience genuine human care. These are nice humans trying to get other humans the medicine they need, quickly and efficiently. I also love to see the Asian dude behind the counter throwing pounds to the black community patronizing this business. Yes, some people waiting were impatient and a little angry, but the staff (and there were plenty of people working) dealt with all of them well, and even with a bit of humor. If I can make it work, SVRH will get all of our prescription business from here on out. Plus, they sell lotto tickets, so they'll win that $1 million when I win the Powerball. Which is good for all of us. read more

Last time I went to SVH was before pandemic. Since then hadn't gone to SVH Had an unpleasant situation. I paid seven dollars for merchandise. Then I had a pop up text mentioning I was fraud seven hundred. Luckily Chase bank on Warren St which is currently shut down was still open. A representative had to shut down my account & I had to wait for a different debit card till delivered to my place. I am shocked a pharmacy would fraud a customer. Hadn't stepped foot SVH after over charged. Well was wise decision .Haven't experienced fraud other places other then this pharmacy. read more

I'm 50+, have lived in 7 different states, and can say without question I've never come close to having as good of an experience as I've had with the folks at SVRH Pharmacy over the past year. From the pharmacists to the person who answers the phone to all of the front counter people... and I do mean all. These days you'd be hard pressed to find a team of people serving the public with as much kindness, patience!, consistency, knowledge and professionalism. It kind of blows my mind and I keep thinking it will change, there will be a bad visit .... But there never is. SVRH is a tight team on a mission to actually HELP PEOPLE it seems. And so many of us need more of that in life. We all have stories (them included) we all have good things and really hard things happening in our lives and often pharmacies act like its just a business and we are all just numbers -if not hassles for them. Regardless of the chaos in the air these days the SVRH team is managing to hold on to their empathy, and again, professionalism to do their jobs efficiently, effectively and beautifully. I hope they all know what a huge difference they make for so many of us on a given day. Oh and yes, sometimes they are VERY busy (because thats how it goes when you run a business WELL), and there can be lots of folks waiting around for their scripts or to buy products, but guess what? You live in NYC. There are a lot of people who need a lot of help here and SVRH takes a deep breath collectively and gets it all done... with genuine care and kindness. So be patient and trust their process.. I've also had multiple vaccinations there and it was seamless. Plus the store is packed with so many valuable, great pharmacy products- it puts other local pharmacies to shame. I love that SVRH feels old school or even small town vs the chain pharmacies nowadays. But most importantly I love that I feel like SVRH pharmacy actually cares about what they do and the fact that they make me feel like they are there to help me help myself.... Instead of presenting me with red tape obstacles because they can't be bothered with actually helping me by doing their jobs to the best of their ability. I really want to support a local business and for months have gotten my prescriptions filled here. But considering they have terrible hours relative to any other pharmacy in the area ( don't open until 10 am on weekdays ) and after they're still not open at 10 am and have left no reason why I've had enough. Not to mention inside the store is dirty and people just congregate by the pharmacy counter without masks (it feels like a bus shelter) and they have no automated refill system .... Im just sending my prescriptions to Rite Aid across the street from now on. read more

This place is incredibly good. They told me to return to my doctor and get a prescription for a cheaper product covered by my insurance. It was going to be $140. In the end the different product was for $0. Once I had a prescription for pills that was for eighteen cents only. They just gave it to me for nothing. They save me money every single time. They also call me every time a prescription comes in and then call me again when it is ready. Amazing! read more

I love this pharmacy! Lovely pharmacist and other employees, who go the extra mile! Once when I was traveling and realized I didn't have enough medication to get me through, I called them to refill and it turned out I didn't have any refills left. I was working on a frenetic job and they helped deal with the insurance and transferring the script to a local place so I could get it ASAP. They've helped me repeatedly with things like this -- or staying a few minutes past closing to make sure I get my vaccine, or if I'm running late to pick up an important med. And I actually love that they have humane working hours - including Sundays off. (This is what we want for each other, right??) Thank you SVRH! read more

Rite Aid and CVS have nothing on this Pharmacy. It's locally owned and operated and they know they have to work for your patronage. They are super friendly and if you have a script at another pharmacy they will call to have it transferred to their place. Their prices are the lowest around and if you know you can get your medication for a lower price on-line they will usually match it. Support local businesses!! read more

They delivered urgently needed prescription drugs when I was unable to pick them up myself. They are truly an old-time pharmacy with all the personal attention one could wish for. Used to be at Wycoff's Corner Pharmacy on Court Street until it got pushed out of the neighbourhood by CVS, Duane Reade and Rite Aid. Was delighted to find SVRH, which is local and personable, unlike any of the three faceless corporations above. Cheap prices, dependable advice, service with a smile. Why would anyone go anywhere but here, now that this is almost the only non-chain pharmacy left in the area!! read more

Great service. I went here because Rite Aid didn't have my medication in stock and I needed it asap. I called up SVRH and the pharmacist knew that he had it in stock without even needing to check. I was in and out as a first-time patient in under 15 mins even though it was busy. Service was fast and courteous. I'll definitely go back. read more

I went to SVRH after Wyckoff Corner Pharmacy closed because I wanted to give my business to an independent pharmacy. I realized right away they couldn't hold a candle to Wyckoff but still wanted to use a small business. I lived through the fact they are not open on Sunday and that they do not open until 9:30 AM weekdays. But my last experience with them was unbelievable. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and my doctor called in a prescription to SVRH. I got to the pharmacy approximately two hours later on my way home and literally ready to pass out. When I gave my name to the woman at the front desk and asked for my prescription, she gave me a piece of paper to write my name and date of birth on and then disappeared to the back where there were like 10 people working. I waited at the counter for about 10 minutes for her to reappear and asked how long it would be to which she replied 10-15 minutes. I explained that I had pneumonia and would appreciate a quicker turn around time as my doctor had called in the prescription two hours earlier. She just sneered at me and said 10 minutes. Either she did not know what pneumonia was or didn't care (although she should have wanted me out as quickly as possible). I don't know what was worse. I then had to wait another 15 minutes and had to ask again for my medicine while I watched them fill prescriptions and put them in to the cubbies on the side for people to pick up later. If this is the service you get at a "independent small business", I will go to Rite Aid as at least they are open on Sunday and at 8 AM. read more

The folks who run this place are knowledgeable, respectful, kind and helpful, the drug prices are good, and if there is some over-the-counter product you want that they don't have, they will order it for you, instead of staring at you blankly, the way they do at the chain stores. I have seen them sell prescriptions pill by pill to hard-up elderly customers. I try not to go anywhere else. read more

The go out of there way to make sure prescriptions are filled - have stayed late so I could get my medicine and are helpful with questions. This is the best pharmacy I have ever encountered. The staff are ACCOMMODATING. They actually HELP YOU. I can't say enough about them. It is so difficult to find health professionals who are actually HELPFUL, but at SVRH ever member of the staff is there to HELP. I love them!
