Amazing and authentic. You can pay $1 to park for 2 hours so no worries there. It's worth it. This spot has FRESHLY made dishes. The owner is wonderful at offering suggestions. It's like having your own Korean mom cooking for you! Highly recommended. Try the dumplings and one of the Korean specials if it's your first time. read more

Cafe is gorgeously decorated in a boho garden-meets-art mosaic kinda way. This is a great lunch spot. Noodle portions are moderately portioned. I got a salad appetizer that was Korean-style spicy and it was DELICIOUS -- a great fusion dish. The owner was also very friendly and accommodating in a familiar way that makes you feel like you are visiting an old friend. Prices are a little steep, but relative to the neighborhood. Go for lunch! read more

We went to SS this past Friday with a group of ten neighbors looking for an easy place to get in with so many people at the last minute. They accommodated us no problem, and in fact I was skeptical because it was so empty. (I can be a food snob - the previous night we were at Charleston). I need not have worried as Suzies Soba was excellent. Food was delicious. Service was attentive and fun, and I thought the prices were actually quite good compared with other Baltimore restaurants. We shared crab dumplings and a tempura appetizer with peeps at our end of the table. Both were quite flavorful, not too heavy, and different than average Asian food restaurant offerings. For my entree, I tried a pork/noodle dish which was delicious. I was cautioned that it would be a bit spicy, which was probably an excess of caution as the herbs and spices were very tasty , but I could have actually used a bit more heat. I tried two of my companions' dishes - a beef and a spicy tuna dish, which both actually had more heat and were delicious. I would order any of the three dishes again (but ask for a little more heat in my dish). Another companion raved about her salmon dish (which I do not eat) Suzies Soba will be added to our list of go-to places, unless or until we experience the apparently traumatizing bad service of some prior reviewers (again, we had great service, which was cheerful and efficient, with an appropriate level of cheekiness - this is not Charleston). read more

Let me first say; if you are from an area where there is not an abundance of asian food choices or you have never traveled to asia or eaten at a japanese persons home... MAYBE you will be highly impressed with Suzie's Soba. Being in baltimore; there is not a lot of authentic asian food competition. The food tastes ok; and seems fresh. But it's just very bland. I had the yaki soba and dumplings. it was very standard. I could have done better at home and I'm not asian or studied asian cooking. Also; was my first time in Hampden. Was lunch time and area was so DEAD. yikes. craving authentic asian food-- head to Montgomery County MD read more

I love to support local places, so I took my family for lunch at Suzie Soba. 3 people with just one meal came to $100+. The service was not the friendliest and the food was not what I would expect for $100+ -- I wish I could have given better rating, but the prices for what you get (lunch menu, portion, quality, service) are just too high. For the price, I will keep supporting Doogwood Deli instead. read more

I'll admit. The area did not exactly seem to be the type of place I would find a good restaurant but I was proven wrong! I got great food! Great service! I really don't understand their current rating. I believe this place deserves a four star minimum! read more

I've lived here for 9 years and just tried this place for the first time today. I now lament 9 years of soba-less meals. The food, tea and service was all fantastic. Suzie is hilariously joyful and the whole experience was a knock out. Looking forward to becoming a regular. read more

Although the food was good and we were happy to find a good restaurant to hangout, it all came crashing down towards the end. Apparently the server/cook was not happy about the tip (15percent, maybe the expectation was 20), and they made it very clear that their disappointment was visible. The manifestation of their very apparent disappointment included, slapping the card back, shouting at us in their own language while giving snarky looks directly at us. I have never ever witnessed a service/reaction that bad specially in restaurant business. This ended in a quarrel and no extra tip from our side. NEVER EVER going there back again read more

I was not surprised by other reviewers who had bad experiences there. I have never been to any restaurant that I felt like money was wasted and this place was exactly that!! And yup, she was rude. I was not impressed with her service and food at all. I am a Korean so I know what to expect in Korean food. And yes, I ordered Korean food. Sorry, but her food was a joke and over- priced. I also thought this place had identity issues; all the way from decor to food!! I am having a hard time understanding this place. What a strange place... I will never go back again. read more

all the good food comments about this place is true. honey ginger tea was spot on, our food was just as tasty & spicy as we'd hoped but having to listen to suzie loudly & incessantly berate her cook throughout our meal made this a terrible dinner. read more

The food here was decent but boring. My ginger teriyaki chicken was something I could have made at home. My husband's pho was pretty good. The service was pretty poor. The waitress was very abrupt and almost unfriendly. It's pretty expensive also. For the money it was definitely not worth it. read more

I've been going here for about 8 years the food is always great and the service is always quick. Susie reminds of family she is great like your old aunty! I would definitely be returning as I have! read more

Suzie is amazing and makes the best Korean food in Baltimore. Chicken Ishiyaki, bulgolgi, and her white fish dish are all a must-try. Also, try her homemade ginger lime aid! She always makes her food with organic ingredients and will make her own sherbet sometimes. read more

Suzie is a great hostess, owner, and chef. If she was rude to you, you must have asked for ketchup on your soba. Food is fresh, lively, and inventive. The Udon noodles are amazing -- lively and delicious. There are delicious Korean and Japanese choices. read more

I love this place!!!! It all started when my friend and I discovered this small little restaurant in the middle of Hampden, we walked inside and discovered how wonderfully eclectic and beautiful the place is. We asked the owner Suzie if we could have our photoshoot out on the back and she happily agreed. We ordered food when we finished and I have got to say the food is incredibly delicious and flavorful. Suzie makes her own food and served the customers herself. If you're looking for delicious original Korean/Asian food then this place is perfect! Suzie is hilarious, I've always had a fun time eating there and joking with Suzie. My favorites are Champong and Bulgoogi and I always asked Suzie to make the Champong super hot l, and she loves the challenge. I was there yesterday and OMG the champong was deliciously hot, the broth was flavoring as well.If you're ever in Hampden try out Suzie's Soba. read more

We ordered Korean pan-fried dumplings for starter. Tasty but greasy, seemed deep-fried. I had Veggie Pad Thai, friend had Spicy Chicken Udon. Mine didn't follow traditional Pad Thai recipe, except for being rice noodles with some peanuts. Flavors were ok but better to name it "Asian stir-fried noodles and mixed vegetables" it just wasn't what I expected. The Chicken Udon was fine for a couple of bites but then came across as very salty. Couldn't finish it. Best part of the meal were our hot teas, which had very potent flavor, though sweet. Will not return, there are plenty of other good noodle places with better prices. read more

My husband and I think the food here is terrific. Her food is always fresh and she cares about the ingredients-- tuna dishes are good and the white fish. Better and fresher than I have in many restaurants, Its an innovative and modern twist on korean food. Having said that some of the reviews are outrageous fibs or clueless (hey dude the dumplings arent pan fried, also its korean not japanese, wrong culture mister expert) Its also amazing to me that people show up at Suzis and then ask does this have onion in it? is it spicy? Having said that she does have nonspicy entries like the chicken dumpling soup. I love the cucumber salad, the mung bean pancake, the seafood hot pot and the spicy white fish. read more

The owner is openly abusive to her staff and cares not at all that customers are party to the abuse - we told her to stop for the sake of everyone involved. And the food was just this side of inedible. A single star for this stinking hole in the wall is four stars too many. read more

Such a gem! I've lived in Hampden for 3 years and have always wondered about this place. Got takeout for the first time tonight and was blown away. The food tastes so fresh and so flavorful! It's authentic and quirky. Let's keep supporting Suzie so she can remain in trend-hungry Hampden. read more

We had the tofu Be Bim Bop and it was excellent! Also the cucumber salad was amazing. More folks should frequent the place.

I wish that I had read the other reviews before going to this hole in the wall. A few coworkers said the food was good so my husband and I went to check it out for some appetizers. The service was really poor. The waitress never introduced herself and failed to check on our table until it was time to get the check. She never asked us if we wanted to order drinks, she just gave us tap water, figured that we would be satisfied and walked away. The seaweed salad was too salty and the vegetable spring rolls consisted of one roll cut into 4 pieces. The soups are a good size but you better finish it while you are there because they do not have any to go containers. The waitress gave me a styrofoam container for soup and said good luck!!! The owner and waitress were obviously upset that we did not order more and had no problem showing it. The whole restaurant could here them as they complained "Is that all they ordered for 2 people" They then had the nerve to complain about their 15% tip. They are lucky they got that much. I will never go back to this establishment and I would not recommend them to anyone! read more

I used to work in a restaurant, so I rarely complain about the quality of service as I know how difficult a job waiting tables can be. But I have never, in my life, been subject to such inconsiderate treatment as I experienced tonight. One of the members of my dinner party tonight is very pregnant, and it being a humid day, her ankles were the size of melons. She was quite uncomfortable, so at one point she asked whether we would mind if she elevated her feet on the free seat directly across from her. There were no other patrons in the restaurant. After attempts to rush us out of the restaurant failed (I believe we received our bill 10 minutes after our food- not a very subtle message to hurry up and get out), the waitress decided to yell at my friend for elevating her feet on the seat opposite her, in much the same tone you would tell off a teenager with muddy shoes on new furniture. We tried to rationally explain the situation, but the waitress just kept on yelling, not letting us get a word in edgewise. I was never so happy to get out of a restaurant in my life. For anyone who has a loved one who is pregnant, who can't help the discomfort they're feeling- this was really such an unjust, irrational confrontation that is totally inappropriate in a restaurant environment. So if you're pregnant, on crutches, handicapped or in anyway might need a little compassion for the human condition from your waitress, avoid Suzie's Soba like the plague! Incidentally, the meal I ordered was a beef and vermicelli dish in a spicy broth- the broth was good, but there was a total of four thin strips of beef in the dish. This seems a sign that this place is not doing so well financially, so I can only hope that the owners will sell it to new management that know how to run a restaurant. Until then- don't go! read more

I've never written a review in response to poor service, but in this case I have to. I've eaten at Suzie's Soba a number of times and found the food to be good enough and the service to be impersonal but okay. But our last experience was awful. In the space of an hour our server devolved, for reasons that remain a mystery to my friend and me, from being friendly and good-humored to being downright surly and mean: banging plates onto the table, interrupting us with loud, growling questions, snatching glasses with attitude before we had finished. We were polite and considerate and we know how to behave in restaurants, but for some reason she was having a very bad evening and she felt free to vent it on us. The food -- e.g., chicken Pad Thai, a familiar litmus test -- was good but the experience was so nasty that we'll not be back soon, if at all. My advice: for a solo meal or dinner with a good friend, enjoy the food and ignore the attitude. For a date, forget it. Try a friendly restaurant. read more
