Went based on Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint. Food was served quickly, even though the restaurant was busy for Father's Day. Egg rolls were served cut in two, which made for a nice presentation and easier eating. The spicy mustard had a very welcome amount of heat to it. No packets of mustard, a squeeze bottle brought to the table. Like how entrees and rice were served in to go containers. Some may not like this due to a lack of presentation, though it made taking home the generous servings much easier. The service was attentive and friendly. Drink refills were prompt, without being requested. We asked for chop sticks, and our server was happy and pleasant in delivering them. That may sound odd, though some places can be challenging to provide them. The food was very good, the Kung Pao chicken was flavorful. My son commented on the generous amount of chicken in the sesame chicken. Definitely will visit again. read more

I would not serve this to my PIGS! First, the place was filthy. My eggrolls were barely warm, and soggy.. The audacity to think they can put pictures of beautifully presented food on their webpages and then serve you food that doesn't even come close to it. What deception? The wontons they were soggy, and I believe it was cream, cheese, dip, tuna fish, water. And that's giving it a complement. The food was bland, low quality ingredients, shame on them for even attempting to call this food. The tea was served, lukewarm, and tasted stale. I would question the kitchen how clean it is, if you're going to compare it to the front of the restaurant ???? When talking to the management trying to explain the situation. sent out a person with a child's mentality, and the inability to see the problems within the organization. I've been blessed to eat around the world. I can honestly say this was the worst meal I've had in over a decade. This is an honest review. We were told that they're training somebody to cook in the back of the kitchen, and this is why the food that we received was what it was. Why would you use your customers as guinea pigs to teach somebody how to cook. Isn't that what the owners responsibility? It is to taste that food. Some of the lowest standards I've ever seen in a restaurant in my entire life. Considering everything that has happened. The way the food was presented the quality of the food. The cleanliness of the location I feel the Board of Health should inquire into their establishment if they are properly, addressing the needs of the public in the presentation. If you have a pallet, and understand quality and good food, avoid this place like the plague!!!! The positive reviews must be from people that are either friends family or just don't have a pallet. The first few times we tried this place we were so excited! The food was amazing! Great vegetarian options. We went for dinner 4 times. The last two times we went for lunch and it was awful. They do not "wok" or stir fry the lunch portions. This time they also did not mix the sauces. I ordered a "sweet and tangy" sauced dish. They put sweet sauce on the bottom, (very few steamed but not cooked or mixed veggies on top--way less than expected) and chili sauce on top, again, not mixed. I've never come across this in any Chinese restaurant! They always flash cook the veggies and sauces in a wok--that's what gives the yummy taste. We may go back for dinner to see if it is a lunch issue or if they got a different cook. It's so disappointing because we had met the new family owners, which are the next generation of the past owner, and they were so great. I hope they consider changing the lunch preparation. I put three starts because it was so good before and I don't want to tank the rating. read more

I didn't know what to expect, but I saw the reviews and I've been to Pei's in the past, like 20 years ago. There's no good Chinese food in IC, so we drove up here. We nearly missed it, twice, because there's no lighted sign like every other business. Walked in and it was much smaller than I expected, but nearly full at the tables and the phone line. Waiter was a kid, probably still in HS. Behind the counter he didn't look like he knew what he was doing, but ended up providing excellent service. The menu was smaller than normal, but nicely pared down, even my vegetarian wife was pretty happy with choices. Food came fast enough and in the right order. Food was very good, even as leftovers. My only digs are the all-white front-of-house and the Asian kitchen staff (maybe original Pei cooks?). I just thought the division was strange. And the food came in strange take-out boxes, which I understand the practicality of, but it felt tacky. Overall, well worth the trip and will come back again. read more

Mongolian beef had a water sauce did not stick to the tough flour coated bottom of the barrel meat. had one bite, I actually think the meat tasted rotten.. the egg foo young gravy was so salty and the chicken was in the sauce. really bad meal. read more

This place is an absolute joke. I do not know how they have so many good reviews because that was a far cry from what we experienced today. Their furniture should be thrown in a dumpster for starters. We tried to sit at 4 different places and finally ended up at what they called the bar. The first booth table was super wobbly. The next four you sunk down into the seating like the springs were broken. The "bar" was made from cheap plywood but seemed to be at least relatively sturdy. The hot tea tasted like they never cleaned the pot it was brewed in. Had a funny taste to it. The egg rolls were ok, but lukewarm. The crab rangoons were nothing but cream cheese in a wonton wrapper but they were at least hot and edible. The food came served in a take-out container and the waitress said most people do take-out, so they just serve everything in those containers. The shrimp was over-cooked and the food was colorless as well as tasteless. When we told the waitress we could not eat the food, she never apologized, just seemed to act like that's just how it was. The manager then tried to pull her away to help elsewhere while we were speaking to her, so we said ,"are you the manager? We'll talk to you instead." He never once apologized, finally offered to comp it 50% but we were not ok with that because we just could not eat it. We agreed to pay 50% on the appetizers because we ate half of those. He stated that the owner would want us to pay something for it. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. We left and went to Beijing's where we had a lovely meal. read more

Was really looking forward to trying the food, I've heard such good things and the entrees we ordered were good but was very disappointed with the "crab" rangoons. They looked great but when I bit into one there was no crab at all, just cream cheese. I read the menu again to see if maybe I was mistaken but it does say crab rangoons on the menu and says it's a homemade cream cheese filling. When I asked the waitress if there was supposed to be crab in the CRAB rangoon's she said "no they don't put crab in it it's just cream cheese", so no veggies, or seasoning?? Even though it says "homemade cream cheese filling"? I was just very confused. It was very disappointing, especially because the old Pei's was so good. If you do decide to try Suyu Pei's do not get the crab rangoons expecting crab. read more
