We've been going to Suvans for years. It used to be good but now the portions are getting much smaller and the food quality poorer. Recently we went in and it was way too salty. When I mentioned it, I was simply told that she'll tell the cook and then she didn't miss a beat going back over to resume talking to the other worker at the counter; like I inconvenienced her. Why do I think nothing was ever mentioned to the cook? Also they were out of sticky rice....really? I think I'm done with Suvans. read more

The food here has sooo much flavor. I was completely blown away. I felt like I was in San Francisco but without the high prices or the hour long lines. Seriously THE BEST food in Lompoc or anywhere nearby. We had the pad thai, pat se eew, Thom Khan and then ordered a panang curry with beef to go. We ordered medium spice on most and wasn't too crazy spicy. They have an assortment of chile condiments on the table that range from mild, smokey , vinegary and thai bird chile hot! The worse thai food I have ever tried. Their Chinese food is the same. To top it off... bad service and ridiculous prices. Their fresh spring roll is 8 dollars and a normal restaurant would charge 4! There are not that many restaurants to choose from in Lompoc. This is one of my faves in town. I love coming here for their Thai food! Tons of menu options. I have discovered that my favorite dish here is the Chicken Pa Kraw Pow. I have to get the mild version because that is as much spice as my senses can tolerate. I noticed that a lot of their produce ingredients are fresh and I appreciate that. My only complaint is that they are closed on Saturdays! read more

Would definitely go back. The pad thai and green curry are very good. A hidden gem of a restaurant. When you walk in it seems plain and cheap but that's a misconception. The wait staff is very efficient and friendly. Food is cooked to order. The meals were delicious and there is a large selection on the menu. Restaurant is very clean. The place is a rip off! Portions have decreased and decreased and decreased. Tonight an order of Orange Chicken wasn't even a single portion and cost almost $10!!!! This is a place we frequent and have noticed this decrease but this was unacceptable!! I called to ask about how they figure out the portion size and expressed how small this was and they didn't care. I have always enjoyed Suvans, their food is outstanding!! But I am disapointed that the quantity of food has changed. In the past when ordering the curry 'to go' it used to come in a large container now its a little less then half the size. The pho soup is delicous and the chow mein is also great!! read more

Carry our tonight was pretty "meh." We've eaten Suvan's in the past, and it was decent, so maybe the cooks were off their game? Tom Yum soup was good, the veggie egg rolls were ok, however, the entrees were mostly sauce. We had kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef, two VERY different dishes and both tasted kind of the same. I think a little too heavy on the fish sauce and brown sauce? The few vegetables that were present were overcooked. I don't know. It was just odd. Probably won't go back, unfortunately. read more

I think the food at Suvans is really good. I have been there over a dozen times & mostly order the pad thai ($7-$9) or lad nah(also $7-$9). The medium spicyness is nice, not too spicy & definetly not bland. The yellow curry is very tasty & also the Khow munh gai ($8.95) & Pho (around $7). The owner & the wait staff are very nice & attentive. The vibe is pleasant but it can get a little crowded at lunch sometimes. Also, they offer a military discount. I have lived for two years in Thailand (Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and Hat Yai), and a year in Singapore. After sampling Thai restaurants from around Thailand, New York, Chicago, Madison, (and those in Santa Barbara county areas like Your Place), I can say that Suvan's Kitchen has probably the best Thai food for your money on the California Central Coast. The Thai dishes are tempered a little with it's spice, but this is a common experience in U.S Thai restaurants. There is no Thai on the menu (limited menu), but what is there is done very well. For instance, the kao pat gai (chicken fried rice) in both size, ingredients, and presentation match that of a Thai restaurant in Nakhon Pathom. The decor could be better, but the service is good. If you are in the area and you don't mind humble surroundings, I recommend trying this. read more

I went there yesterday I wondered when, I received my check there was a charge of two dollars after the normal Tax or about 10% of all my order. I asked before when I was there what that extra money was for? They didn't give me a good answer it was sort of brushed away in a non answer. It looks like they add a service charge but it is not listed as such and is deceiving. they do service on the bill. I ask the cashier do you add service charge on this, she said " No" so, what is the extra charge for? You need to keep asking what is that extra charge is on the bill before you pay. I will not go back Suvan's Kitchen anymore because of this. My favorite restaurant in town, I love the food and service here. The only thing I don't particularly enjoy are the new changes. They used to seat you and come take your order but now it's more of a fast food environment where you go up, order, take a cup and number for your table but with great fresh food. Someone recommended that we try this place for lunch. We arrived and were a bit taken back by the dingy surroundings, but hoped that the food would make up for it as many hole in the wall places often do. I had a bowl of seafood pho which had me wondering what in the 'pho' were they thinking. 70% hot water, 20% vegetables and the balance was made up of pieces of fish that weren't recognizable. Whenever we travel in the area we stop at Suvans. The food is great. Fried rice is one of my favorites, Also, love the yellow chicken curry. A lot of people from nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base show up here... it's very popular. Service is always prompt and friendly. They adjust spices to your preference. Prices are reasonable. A review regarding my first visit ever to this place, as a carry-out order to eat at home. It was very busy for the restaurant, so the wait seemed to be on the longer side, especially since a customer that was there before me was waiting for several dishes to be packed up for her to take home. I ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and chicken satay, but on the receipt it was chicken eggroll. Eventually, when I got home, it really was eggrolls. I thought that since eggrolls and satay were in the same menu category, that it was just a general label for anything...anyway, I could have called it out but I left it be because of how busy it was. I found nothing wrong with the food. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The eggrolls were crispy and not very oily. I liked how crunchy the cashews and peanuts were in the fried rice. I will definitely return to this restaurant in the future, but next time I will make sure to double check my order before I leave with a carry-out. read more

I went to Suvan's with some Vandenberg folks and it was quite good. I had the Pad....well, I can't remember the name, all I know is that it wasn't the Pad Thai. It was excellent, good flavor and just the right amount of heat. My coworkers had the curry and they loved it. I would definitely go back again but as a reviewer said earlier, I don't trust the Chinese part of the menu. read more

Unlike some Thai restaurants that leave your stomach a bit bogged down, this place serves up delicious, clean and healthy food-fare. It is small and a bit off the beaten path (unless you live in Lompoc), but if you are ever passing through it is worth the stop. read more
