It was a little dry, but they gave the sauce on side so that helped. I'm used to more tangy and sweet teriyaki sauce their sauce didn't really seem like teriyaki based; more savory and sour if anything. The beef was good! Super tender. Ordered via door dash - and arrived to my place within 10 min, which probably means it was all pre cooked and then put together since I'm 1 mile away. Sauce came on the side - didn't really remind me of a teriyaki sauce it's more tangy and soy sauce tasting or I guess like a watery A1. Tried all meats without the sauce chicken was cooked well, not dry at all. The beef had a weird after taste. Short rib was good, nothing was overcooked. Wish the meat was topped over cabbage like other Hawaiian spots instead of a lettuce salad ( which of course I didn't eat) Mac salad had a good mayo to macaroni ratio but didn't taste like anything it was extremely bland. Musubi - wish the spam was a bit thicker but the rice ratio was good, rice was cooked to perfection. Spam wasn't cooked in sauce nor was there sauce in-between the rice and spam. We use to order from here a couple times a month- loved the Kobe ribs, beef and chicken plates, island salad & family meals. But the last 2 times we've been extremely disappointed by the taste and quality of the food. The island salad use to be crisp iceberg lettuce, edamame, and shredded carrots with a delicious sesame base dressing. The last 2 times- the salad was bagged iceberg with previously frozen peas & carrots- no edamame- nothing fresh. The ribs use to have flavor and have a nice grilled char without being dry- these times they taste like they were microwaved! Very chewy, bland flavor, no sauce or grill marks whatsoever. Extremely delicious food! I ordered the BBQ chicken mini meal and my husband ordered the spam musubi. It took a minute to get but that's because everything is made to order (my husband even said the musubi was too hot and had to wait for it to cool down). QQ Aloha BBQ in Paso Robles totally surprised me; we "accidentally" passed it looking for another place and I had to try it. I ordered the BBQ Beef and Chicken combo and was super impressed! The serving size was abundant and I loved the marinade/sauce on the meat and poultry. The mac salad and rice were spot on as well. The prices are super reasonable and there is plenty to grind on. He also ordered the appetizer sampler that had a variety of fried items. I dip the chicken in the "BBQ" sauce and it tastes like teriyaki...call it whatever you want, that's teriyaki sauce lol. But hey, it was good so I poured it over my chicken and white rice bowl. It was tasty, on par with every other place ive had teriyaki chicken. The prices are also super reasonable. It was only like 5-6$ for the bowl and it was a perfect lunch size for me. The reason for not having 5 stars though is that appetizer. It was so bad. The fried shrimp were basically inedible, the sesame balls were naaasstty, egg rolls were not good, chicken dumplings were meh, and the crab rangoons, I mean, it's cream cheese and dough, so those were fine. It's your typical hole-in-the-wall hawaiian fusion place. QQ is really similar to L&L and it reminds me of the late night food I used to eat back home. The food is pretty good. I think I got the 36(?) It's the korean kalbi ribs with bulgogi and fried shrimp. Kalbi was a little fatty but it makes sense because you're paying so cheap for an incredible amount of food. By the end of my meal, I was beyond full and I had to save my leftovers and share it with a roommate. Ordered fried shrimp, grilled mahi mahi, and short rib plate lunch along with SPAM musubi and the sesame balls. The ribs were flavorful and not greasy, the shrimp ok but a little dry, the fish was very good but I'm not positive it was really mahi mahi. Nice to get sesame balls but I thought a bit expensive for 6 small balls. Unfortunately what ruined the meal was the rice. It was only partially cooked and basically inedible. The same with the musubi. The person who made the meal would have known the rice was not the right texture but still served it out. Had to review and give 5 stars after the amazing service we got here. There was a misunderstanding with our order and it was fixed right away. Our food came out quickly and we weee given some makeshift plates to use for our kids. The family meal was a great deal and good size for our family of 6. Solid example of very good food. Had the Katsu Chicken and enjoyed it. Ample serving with white rice and macaroni salad. Nice sweet sauce available which does add to the taste quite nicely.
