Not good. First time trying this place. Spent $45 and I regret it 1. Chicken katsu was dry, over cooked, and lacked flavor. 2. Ribs were also super dry and over cooked. 3. Egg rolls are mini egg rolls that taste like the frozen ones you buy in the freezer section of the grocery store. 4. Crispy shrimp was in the same category as the egg rolls. Tasted like nothing more than some Gordon's frozen boxed shrimp. 5. Mac salad was ok at best, but completely warm as it sat under the warm meat. 6. Food is pretty good and prices are great, but the sauces are just off. I'm not quite sure what flavor profile they're trying to achieve. The katsu sauce is a weird Chinese sweet and sour concoction, and the barbecue sauce is a Korean-y gelatinous duck sauce/bbq marinade-it's just strange. I work next to L&L in Goleta, so I definitely see the comparisons. However, I enjoy the options at QQ Aloha BBQ, and I really appreciate the customer service. The owner saw our 4 month old, and talked about his own 3.5 month old. The manager was exceptionally friendly and made the experience awesome. The food is filling and a decent value. I got the pineapple chicken bowl (tasted similar to a sweet and sour pork, but chicken and sweeter). Overall, I recommend this place as an alternative to L&L and I think it's a nice place to stop after some Lompoc shopping. read more

Excellent food...the shrimp, rice, macaroni salad..outstanding. Korean BBQ ribs are gristly though, but so far that was the only negative I've encountered here food-wise. The other negative is the very uncomfortable wooden benches for seating. Service is at the counter, the cashiers are friendly and knowledgeable, the price is definitely right....BIG portions for your money. Bathroom is clean and well-stocked. For about 10 dollars you can get an enormous plate of spar ribs, chicken, beef, salad, and mac-n-cheese. There is enough food to split with a friend or save for later. There is a substantial amount of bang for buck here which is why I rate this place at 4 stars. Getting down to the flavor of the food, I was most impressed with the spare ribs and the chicken was succulent and tender. The space of the restaurant is small but the service is quick and efficient with the average wait time about 5 minutes per plate. I normally don't review restaurants on Yelp. However, on Wednesday night I purchased food for myself and my fiance, everything was good it tasted well. At 2 the morning I was throwing up horrible stomach ache I got food poisoning from what I ate at this restaurant. On Thursday the whole day I was in bed in pain and running to the bathroom. Luckily I was able to prevent my fiance from eating this since I purchased his food for the next day for him to eat. It's Friday I am feeling better than yesterday I'm able to eat very little compared to yesterday I didn't eat anything at all. Had dinner here on Halloween. We were the only ones in the place. I was so excited to try it because I love Hawaiian food, and having one closer than Zoe's would be amazing! Unfortunately, everything we ordered was so wrong. (Ok except the gyoza it was average.) The Katsu sauce and the BBQ sauce had some sort of just .... Off taste to it. White rice was... Rice.... And the Mac was average too, had more veggies and texture than Zoey's does, which I enjoyed. The chicken was fried wonderfully, but the beef was so fatty and tough that it was stuck in everyone's teeth. The portions were decent. I think what made the experience so bad was that the sauces were so..... strange..... Everything they served us that night required the sauces to be added to give the meat any type of flavor. So with bad sauces, we ended up with dry meat. To each their own, but I think I will take that drive to Santa Maria when I have a hankering. read more

I got the #20 which looked great on presentation but the Katsu chicken had no flavor and had a weird taste as if dropped in the fryer straight from the freezer. The Katsu sauce made me sick, the bbq chicken had absolutely no flavor what so ever, the rice tasted over cooked, and the macaroni salad had too much mayonnaise. I don't understand the low stars here! Wow! I have travelled all over the world with hundreds of stays in Hawaii. When we walked in, it was your typical small quick serve style restaurant. However, it was immaculate! The aroma just in the parking lot was inviting. Then you walk in and BAM!!!! Delicious Bold Aroma! The food is cooked fresh to order by an obviously Hawaiian Grill Master. We carried the food home to eat. The short drive, with the wonderful aroma made us even hungrier. On first bite, I could close my eyes and imagine sitting in Honolulu's International Marketplace!!!! Bonus, the portions are huge! I will definitely go there again, and again. Recommend it to neighbors & friends. Treat out-of-town guests to QQ Aloha BBQ. Came here when they first opened, food was ok, tasted precooked and just reheated. More recently they cook everything fresh. I like the katsu chicken the best. I did a phone pick up ordsr, takes about 10-15 mins for pick up. I was on lunch from work. Ordered a starbucks and picked that up in mean time. Came to get my order and no where to be found. Cashier Robin stated she just threw it out. I ordered at 11:08 am, picked up at 11:25. Guess I was 2 mins late and instead of me since they take down your number and not your name to tell me your order is ready for pick-up you just throw out of perfectly good meal?. Not only was I still getting a full charge of the meal which I would assume they would discount or give it at no charge for their mishap I did not even get an apology until I said yeah let me just spend the rest of my lunch waiting for my lunch and not get to eat it she then apologized and said sorry and that was it. I went out to the car to get my cell phone so I had something to do while I waited and she did offers me a free bottle of water or free beverage which yes was nice but no need because I just picked up a coffee I would have appreciated the charge for the meal being waived or at a discount. With that being said for my experience today their food is still good I wouldn't let this one time deter me from not going back it's just unfortunate their customer service Lacks. Prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of food you get. The only reason they don't get 5 stars from me is the lack of pork dishes, usually a staple in Hawaiin restaurants. Went the day after grand opening. Tried calling to order but no answer. Showed up at 11:30 and I knew why they didn't answer. Everyone in town must have been there. Waited about 15-20 minutes after ordering to get my food which wasn't bad considering all the people. I got the Aloha BBQ mix and it was good. All the meat was moist and not over cooked, had full flavor, and was hot when I got it. The sides (rice and macaroni salad) were ordinary but the meat was excellent. I got mine to go but the inside of the restaurant looked nice and clean if you wondered about that aspect. Once the hype of a new place calms down I'm sure it will be even better.
