I really like this place - it's the closest sushi restaurant from our home and also the one where even on Friday night you can walk in, make a to-go order and have it ready in 10-15min. Closed Sunday the 25th of November as far as we knew. Came in town around 7:30pm and drove up, closed before 8pm. Thought hours were until 9pm. No sign on door to say closed on the 25th of Nov. I went here several years ago and it was okay. I recently received a gift card and thought I'd give it another shot. No luck. Apparently, there's a separate tag stapled to gift cards that was no longer attached to mine. There's no sense in attaching something to a gift card unless the point is for it to be lost. Great sushi in Rockwall. Me and mom got 5 rolls. We added cream cheese to the tiger roll, my only complaint is it was a dollar more but they didn't add much :( All the rolls we got tasted very fresh and they came out quick. We got Louisiana roll, tiger roll, sunset roll, baked salmon roll. And I can't quite remember the other one we got. The place isn't fancy, very casual which I liked. Sushi in this place was really good. Environment not so much. I really enjoyed the sushi here. Everything I tasted was great. Tuna, salmon, snapper sashimi was typical but the salmon here had a better consistency than other places around. I also tried the sexy, shogun and California rolls. The sexy and shogun rolls are cucumber wrapped which has become a favorite of mine. Sushi box pulled them off without a hitch. (See pics). The pricing is also good very reasonable. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the ambiance/environment. They have only two tables capable of seating more than two people. Half the sushi bar stares at a wall and it's sorta empty and cold feeling. Also they have sodas in bottles not fountain so no refills. read more

I wanted to believe this place was an awesome small sushi spot based on the reviews, but that was not my experience. I ordered the Black Pearl Roll, Tuna roll, and Salmon roll. All cuts of fish seemed very fatty and un-uniform which gave a very odd texture, very chewy. On top of the that, the seaweed used for the rolls was old, tough, and stringy. You could barely even bite through it. Save your money and go to Basil Cafe. read more

We have been meaning to go here for years and we finally did. We got Cajun, Louisiana, Avocado, and veggie rolls. I absolutely loved it. It was amazing, loved every bite. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because part of my family is allergic to fish, when we asked to sub crab on a few of they rolls they wanted to charge us $2 per substitute. This place was recommended by several of our friends that live in the Rockwall area. We tried the Tuna Tower, Philadelphia rolls, and Pretty Woman roll. I highly recommend all of these! The Tuna and salmon were both fresh and very tasty!! You can watch them make your rolls right after you order. The only reason I'm giving only 4 instead of 5 stars is because this place is best for take out. The drinks are only bottled drinks from a cooler and seating is very limited. We ordered six rolls and a bento lunch, and the bill was only $44! So you're thinking, the rolls must be mostly rice, or the fish isn't fresh, or something, right? Nope. Generous fish portions, very fresh, and everything seasoned perfectly -- not overly saucy, rice was perfect. The owners are Korean and had some nice K-pop streaming off of YouTube, lol. I am extremely shocked by all the high reviews here. These folks must have only had grocery store sushi before, or were paid to review positively. The wife and I ordered a salmon roll, rainbow roll and yellowtail nigiri. The salmon and tuna both smelled and had the texture of canned fish. The yellowtail was inedible it was so fishy and stale.
