Great local place for some hibachi and sushi. This is not a hibachi place where they cook in front of you. Just a standard restaurant where you sit in order. Place is pretty small, but I like that aspect. It's more intimate. The food is good and I thought the sushi was delicious. read more

WOW! Just moved to Forney saw this place on the drive to the new house. Did some due diligence and saw the photos on Yelp and went in. So glad we did. Great service. Cool dining room. Food was amazing. The hibachi was better than I expected my wife LOVES the fried rice so that was worth the extra 2 bucks. The dragon bomb was packed with flavor and not too spicy. Perfect balance. The ambiance is amazing with soft jazz music playing making it the perfect place for a date, which aligns with the food and service provided. Our waiter was tentative and always there when we needed a refill or to order another item. They have a generous selection of food, especially sushi which is phenomenal because I'm a sushi lover but I was a little disappointed that they didn't have an actual hibachi table. However, they still do offer very delicious hibachi. I also ordered takeout a few weeks later and it tasted the same as it did in the restaurant which I am happy with however the sushi wasn't as amazing as I hoped but I will try it again in the restaurant instead of takeout. I highly recommend this place and will be returning to try other items than just hibachi. read more

Last night was my second time to dine at Blue Koi and it was even better than the first. The ambiance is nice, the menu selection is extensive, there is a great cocktails menu, and the food tastes wonderful. This time I had white tuna nigiri, the Dragon roll and the sweet potato roll. All three were tasty and the Dragon in particular was amazing - the combination of eel, avocado and crab with a rich eel sauce almost melted in my mouth. The piña colada was good, and service was excellent - attentive but not hovering. Staff members were friendly. My husband and I recently moved to Heath from Rowlett and I am sure we'll be back on a regular basis. read more

Been here twice and it's been consistent. Extremely empty, but service and food top notch. The server was the same woman for both visits who is super hospitable and warm. The food is fresh and presented really nicely. I love the rolls here. Prices are great - especially on happy hour for beer. The decor is cute and space is very clean. We love coming here. Drove 40 minutes to Heath for this and it was worth it! My dad and I had never been to the Heath area before and when I found this place through a Google search, the photos and the reviews enticed me. I saw the Heath Roll had seared salmon and I was sold. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. Our server gave us a good amount of time to look over the menu and when he came by to ask for our drink order, I was actually ready to order everything. We got hot green tea (delicious), edamame, the Heath Roll, an Eel and Avocado Roll, and I ordered my dad a chirashi bowl. The chirashi bowl came with miso soup and a salad so we shared those while eating the edamame. Our food came out looking delicious and the rolls really hit the spot for me. I tried some of the seared white tuna from the chirashi bowl and though I'm not used to having it seared, it was soooo much better than usual with that added charred flavor. Would definitely come back! The restaurant is also in a great location next to a donut place and a short walk away from a boba place. It also has outdoor seating. read more

Finally, we got out to Blue Koi! It was a really good meal. Whether you like sushi or Hibachi you can't go wrong. I can't believe it took me so long to finally try the food. Great experience on a Saturday evening! There was no one in the restaurant when we walked in at 5pm, however I think 4 or 5 parties showed up after us so idk what the wait time was for them- but for us it was super fast! I got the Maki sushi entree which was 3 basic rolls (California, tuna, salmon), miso soup, and a salad for only $20! Oh and I thought they didn't serve alcohol based on the menu online, but they do serve beer and wine! Food was really good once we got it. Place was not busy, but it seemed to take a really long time to get our food and drinks. One of the meals was also not very warm when we received it. Blue Kai has quickly become our go-to sushi restaurant. We go at least twice a week, usually on our way to or from a walk at nearby Terry Park on the waterfront. The sushi is fresh and delicious, and presentation is beautiful! The ambiance is quiet mellow jazz which gives it a relaxing vibe. Best of all is the service... instant greeting and seating, followed by table service by our favorite server of any restaurant in the surrounding area... always greeting us with a smile and quick service. Just wanted to rave about this place again. They have the absolute best hibatchi! I loooove their sauces. They're incredible. This place is never busy when we go which we don't understand why. Was excited to see a new place open in heath. And Japanese / sushi. Thats even better ! However the sushi was disappointing. Started with the ahi tuna tower. It was the worst I've ever had in my life. Then our sushi came out. A mix of rolls and nigiri. The best way I can describe this is "not fresh". Not a single thing we ordered was even decent. They have a great variety of offerings, sushi, noodle dishes, hibachi, etc. we ordered vegetable tempura for appetizer. It was a generous portion for two, about 6 pieces of different veggies. I then ordered the Godzilla Sushi and my husband got hibachi steak and shrimp. I enjoyed my dish and my husband has soup and salad included with his. I tasted his salad. We have ordered take out from this restaurant twice this month already. We love their Mixed Yaki Soba Noodles. They have some good Sushi rolls too. The Tuna Maguro has been great and fresh! This place is SO good! The sushi is amazing and the staff is so sweet. We went on a Friday night right at dinner time, so it was quite busy. We had to wait a while for our sushi, but when it finally came the brought us some dumplings on the house as an apology for the wait. That was so nice and made me love this place even more. It was sticky and so sweet it was gritty and inedible. I called and they told me they didn't care about the fact I had to throw it away. I have never had an experience like it. I would avoid them. I wouldn't be comfortable with how the food is made.

It feels very intimate and is great for a quiet date night. My favorite this that I tried was the salt and pepper calamari. So crunchy, and well seasoned. The veggies that came with it complemented the flavor and made for such a delicious appetizer. We got several types of sushi too, but we started eating before I remembered to snap a photo (lol). So happy we stumbled across this establishment. I drive by this place all the time, but never thought to visit. The exterior is not much to look at, but the inside is chic, clean, and inviting.
