Sushi Zen is the hibachi restaurant thats the closest to my house. They are literally 5 minutes away and everytime i place a togo order its almost always ready by the time i get there. There hibachi taste so fresh and like it was made with care. They give you an abundance of veggies to go with it. So far it looks nice, and it smells amazing. I think the girls had to warm up to me.One girl at the register is very nice the other isn't very sociable. I ordered shrimp, fried rice and you will get six shrimps. The rice is different from most Chinese restaurants. It appears to be a long grain jasmine rice. Mixed with egg and onion. it will come with carrots if you do not exclude them. The taste is fairly decent. I also ordered crab meat wonton. they are stuff pretty lightly, you will receive six for eight dollars. The taste is fairly decent. I will probably go back just to give them a second try. read more

The service was prompt. Our table was sticky and we had to give it a wipe down. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a variety of sushi and rolls. This sushi restaurant receives such high reviews and was close to my hotel, so I had to visit and see what the fuss was about. I was a little scared since I recently had a disaster sushi experience just 1 week prior in Charleston, SC. However, I still went out late and tried to be brave and hope Yelp got it right this time. I again visited near closing on a weeknight and ordered the yellowtail scallion roll and an Out of Control roll, which the latter the waitress also recommended was one of the most popular, even though I had spotted this roll as a must try dish before even visiting here. My original plan was to order a 3rd roll, but that large roll just filled me up too fast, plus I wasn't super hungry to begin with. Service was excellent as the waitress did a great job at refilling my drink and recommending dishes. I'm glad I found this sushi spot on the north side since I visit Jacksonville frequently. Surprise, good sushi is in this part of town. Seeing such good reviews, I knew my wife would be pleased going out for Sushi and I can tell you, she was very happy. I would like to make one point, the service here was AMAZING. Blah, blah, blah, you really want yo learn about the food: Beer - really a few beers you don't see anywhere else. Salad - my salad was awful, it was very small and had so much water that it made the ginger dressing watery. Yellowtail - FANTASTIC, fresh, wonderfully prepared. Salmon - prepared the same as the yellowtail, another great dish Tuna - not as fresh as the other fish, but it was fine. Alaska Roll - tight wrapping, wonderful flavor. Sushi rolls - my wife had three rolls and I did not write them down, but she loved it. Parking is easy and as I said, service could not have been better. read more

I go to this place regularly once in two weeks as soon as I get paid. lol. The food is soooo delicious and perfect. The sushi pizza, sashimi, tuna tartar, etc. I can list all menu items that are delicious. The staff is friendly and knows me when I do order to go. This is a gem at the Northside of Jacksonville. The only one downside is that they implementer the air freshener diffuser that fights against the food smell. Also, I'm highly sensitive to the smell, so I avoid eating at the restaurant, but ordering food to go works well for me as well. read more

I decided to try Sushi Zen at Duval Station on a whim. I was returning some packages around lunch and wanted to get a bite to eat. When I came in, I was greeted and seated. The waitress was very nice and attentive which is always a plus. The restaurant was a little slow for lunch hours, but I still decided to try. The menu is nice with normal sushi rolls I've seen at other restaurants, but they did have a few non traditional rolls that I thought were interesting like one that included sweet potato. It's always a good start when there are so many appealing options on the menu that it's hard to choose what to order. Another plus is their availability on Uber eats. They packaged everything incredibly well and all of the fish was delicious. The sushi sandwich is a must have and the two rolls - banzai and black dragon- I got were great although personally I prefer the puffy tempura other the one they use for their shrimp. Nigiri were tasty as well and everything came with plenty of sauce on the side as requested, wrapped super well, and with tons of ginger and wasabi. read more

We went to Sushi Zen for lunch today. It's on Duval Station Rd. a couple doors down from Publix. Who knew? They have been there for 3 years. This will be the only place from now on where we will get our Sushi fix. We both had the edamame, crab rangoon, and dinner salad with ginger dressing (served on the side). The crab rangoon actually had a hefty amount of filling. Yummy. The husband had the out of control sushi roll and I had the Jimmy smith tempura roll. Both were delicious. I was craving some sushi and saw that this place has 5 stars and it's right up the street. I ordered delivery and tried the monster roll and shrimp tempura roll. My husband got the Godzilla roll and Crazy roll. Listen...the joy I have that there's a great quality sushi place 2 miles from me is everything! I would go to Riverside or Southside to get some good sushi! And honestly Jacksonville just doesn't have enough high quality Asian restaurants in general so I am elated! The Monster roll is very delicious and the shrimp tempera was so good and big too. The pieces are bigger than most places but the flavor is really good! I will definitely be back to try more! I ordered Spicy Crunchy Tuna roll, Florida roll (deep fried roll), 2x American Dream roll, Chicken Teriyaki with side of salad, miso soup and Noodles(that an upcharge of $3.00 which I don't personally mind) Total cost was $65.27 My first impression is the staff were all friendly when I entered. I got my food perfectly in time. The food came out hot & fresh. The chicken teriyaki was tender and easy to bite. Noodles had a garlic butter pepper taste which was different but good. Miso soup was delicious. Salad had fresh iceberg lettuce, slice tomato, thinly slice carrots with ginger dressing on the side (not included in my photos because I ate it ) Sushi was fresh and delicious. I love all it.
