The food was good, very tasty. A little pricey, food came out was very fast! The waitress was very quick to take away empty plates. Over all good place to eat.

This restaurant has, by far, the most SUPERIOR sushi we've ever been served, which is why we'll drive an hour to get here! The sushi is always fresh, great portions, phenomenal and sometimes exotic selections, extremely affordable given the location, and the service is always friendly and attentive. We've been coming here for years for intimate dining, family dining, and birthday celebrations and have never had anything but the best experience!

Golden dragon is my favorite roll of all time from any sushi restaurant. We always order out from here, but eating in is fun too. Cute place, and service is always good. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my meal at Sushi Ya but it was only slightly cheaper than Asian Island. The soft shell crab was nice and crispy but my shrimp tempura roll was small. the Tempura fried ice cream was delicious.

This is hands down the most consistent and high quality sushi restaurant that I've encountered in the northern NJ area. I keep coming back, despite a few other great options that are actually closer to me. I tried a very expensive venue on Rt. 10 in Whippany this past week (you can guess which one), but I will always prefer the Island. Fresh rolls with so much variety, you can get lost in the menu. The Monster Symbol Ball and the Tuna Dumplings are just to die for - so much robust flavor. Their standard rolls and sashimi are fantastic, and they will deliver as much wasabi as you request. It's on point and fantastic. The chefs behind the counter are never too busy to give you a nod and a courtesy greeting, and the wait staff are just so pleasant and willing to make your dining experience best it can be. BYO wraps it up, and they are happy to give you beer or wine glasses as needed. Only thing our group didn't care for was a fatty tuna special, and they were so concerned to hear this they offered to take it off our bill. That's customer relations right there! Please try this place! I've been wanting to also try Sushi Ya, but I just cannot bypass Asian Island to do so. It's a real problem. You need to try this place!!!

I ordered the Japanese Wonton and shrimp noodles, unagi sushi, and ikura sushi. Everything tasted delicious and had great presentation! I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

The big snow storm happened weeks ago, and yet the parking lot had less spots because the snow was piled up on top of them, so we had to maneuver our way into a "made up" spot instead. Also, lately we have noticed that they have no chili oil on house for us to make our ramen spicier, which was a bit disappointing too. Again, the broth is really good and the service is nice too, we were just disappointed with these two inconveniences.

I had the Korean Kimchi soup ($17), a fabulous concoction of ramen noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with spam, kimchi, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My dining companion had the Tokyo Chicken soup ($16) with udon noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with sliced teriyaki chicken, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My carb-conscious dining companion seemed mildly surprised the chicken filet in her soup was breaded, rather than grilled.. but adjusted expectations accordingly. Both soups were served quickly and were fantastic. The portion sizes of our soups were very filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Parking is available in the front AND back of the building. The parking lot in front of the building facing NJ Route 10 can fill up quickly, but there is plenty of space in the parking lot behind the building and there are entrances in the front and back of the building.
