    Chef preparing the omakase sushi

Very accommodating staff (for an omakase joint) will put you at ease at this relaxed, divey space. The chef is the silent star of here surrounded by a wraparound bar. While the back to back reservation slots can make everything feel a little transactional, it's the best of Japanese sushi craft and stoic hospitality coupled with the familiar New York speed and pragmatism.

This was an incredible omakase experience at a very reasonable price Food: we ordered the premium lunch menu - which offered so much food for just $150 (for two people)! One of my favorites was the sea salt medium fatty tuna- it is amazing! There was a great variety of things. Service: The 'host' walked around and was very attentive. He explained what we were eating as well! Everyone was so kind Ambience: great ambience: there is a big table that you sit with others - and it was a nice experience

Amberjack Sushi and the Chutoro with Soy Sauce so good! They also play a series of games for free items off their menu.

Food was so good as always. Company was very kind and enjoyed the marinated tuna for a la carte. Cant wait to come back.

The dinner was way above my expectations. Came here for an early birthday celebration and it was a great experience. The sushi was fresh and tasted great. Only complaint was the truffle powder was a little much...to the point where it made my mouth dry. Could probably lighten up the saucing a little bit. But overall the sushi was good and great quality. The server came around to individually tell us what the fish of the day is for each one of those, and was highly attentive. It was a very nice setting at the bar and easy to converse with the whole party. The fact that there's no tipping here just made the overall experience even better since it was still great service regardless.

Been to 2 separate locations(other being the East village location) and this is actually the first Sushi W I've been to, to celebrate my anniversary with my wife. Love it here. Fresh fish and intimate setting. Best bang for your buck for sushi.

omakase on the more affordable side ($68 for premium, 16 pieces total). the space itself is intimate and dimly lit, giving the impression of a higher end place while still being casual enough to bring your friends for a night out. came here with a group and was seated promptly -- service was friendly and attentive. the servers were on top of walking us through the menu. little bonus included a few interactive experiences to keep things fun: one was a dice roll (doubles got you a free drink), the other was a last man standing rock paper scissors game for two extra pieces of chutoro. my party had two winners and it definitely elevated their night. food wise, the fish was pretty high quality especially given the affordable pricing. each piece was fresh and paired well with a simple garnish (eg soy sauce, sea salt, truffle powder, etc). the choice to do two chutoro pieces was interesting (not my favorite but good fish overall so can't complain too much). rice was also sauced which added some nice depth of flavor, but at the same time made the rice fall apart sometimes while picking it up. despite any downsides, the quality and quantity versus price makes this experience very much worth it, and i would recommend it for anyone who's in the area and looking to treat themselves without making a huge hole in the wallet.

my first ever omakase experience did not disappoint ! i was looking for an affordable and well rated omakase spot, and stumbled across sushi w on social media. i was surprised they offered a 38$ lunch menu with 10 pieces of nigiri and 2 rolls, which sounds too good to be true. however, this went well over my expectations. we were greeted immediately by dim lighting and the host who sat us at the bar where we got to see our sushi chef prepare each piece. for the sushi, all of the fish is fresh and buttery. my most favorite is the arctic char where they seared and added some fresh garnishes. this piece was so good that i just had to order it again a la carte. overall, i would say all of the sushi tasted delicious and not one tasted bad. but not only is the food delicious, the service is top notch. everyone is super polite ! they also named each and every piece of sushi they gave us and kept our glasses full. sushi w is indeed a W !

Probably one of my favorite omakase I've tried in the city thus far the quality of the fish was great just wish we had about an extra 10-15 minutes to eat and enjoy it a bit slower. Otherwise I really enjoyed the games they incorporated to win food and their interactions with the customers. Every bite was good and I didn't have one I didn't enjoy. The inside is fine nothing too special but the food makes up for it!

I will be back Yummy, intimate, and like an episode of the bear :D Such yummy fish and such a good omakase deal of $38 for lunch. They have intimate sessions of ~12 people so it's such a small space. Waiting room in first area and dining area in the back! The $38 including tip is too good to be true for a 10 course meal + 2 hand rolls. Was so full after too. I enjoy a chill reg but intimate vibe, and this checked what i wanted to go for. OH PLUS we came for a bday and they turned off all the lights n made everyone sing happy birthday HAHA such a shared experience w the others eating. Such a lively crew

Stopped here for the lunch omakase. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised with each of the nigiri pieces. Definitely worth the price. Will be back!

Had my first omakase experience here, was blown away by the quality of the fish! For under $60, we had a 13 course omakase dinner. Service was extremely friendly and we had a fun experience. Quality of the fish was super good for the price point, savored every bite. I loved 12/13 of the courses, the snow crab hand roll was just alright. Definitely worth a visit, but make sure to reserve in advance!

Great omakase deal in the city. Very intimate seating with only 10-12 people dining in at the same time. Sushi was delicious but I can't say it's the best I've had. I wish their dining experience could have been a bit more interactive and engaging. You have the option to order additional pieces at the end. They have a no tip policy just like in Japan!

Nice selection of omakase for one hour windows, lunch and dinner. Sushi was fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and professional. The room is pretty basic but it's a nice price point and one can add pieces menu for an additional charge. The branzino special nigiri piece stood out to me as well as the fun being "served in your hand" ikura hand roll.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived.
