Came here with my friend and her daughter. My friend already came for the food/hibachi and enjoyed it. So she wanted to come back to try their sushi! It's a stand alone building with a lot. So it's nice that there's a good amount of parking for just this restaurant. Service was good, our server was attentive and kept coming back to as how things were. As I'm looking around, I'm noticing big portions. Which is great!! The price for everything on the menu is good as well. My friend ordered tempura udon for her daughter and that bowl was so big! We ordered 4 different rolls and then yellowtail & enjoyed everything we ordered. The fish looked and tasted fresh. I also liked that there was not a lot of rice with each roll. Waited forever for Sushi Uni to open. Waited a bit until after the opening crowd died down and went to try it out. The building is nice on the outside with ample parking. And, the inside is very nice. Our waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, the food fell short. Sushi was just okay. The orange chicken was barely warm and the chicken tasted old. The sauce has pieces of star anise and dried orange peels which are both inedible. But, otherwise tasted good due to the fresh garlic. I just don't like fishing stuff out of my sauce. Entrees come with 2 crab rangoon. However, you need a microscope to find any filling. The salads were fresh but dressing lackluster. The steak hibachi was good. But, it's an upcharge for fried rice. One BIG issue is the vegetables...NOT hibachi fried/ sautéed = NO flavor. We loved the metal cups which kept waters and beverages cold. read more

Came here on a busy Saturday, I got to say I been waiting for a place of this quality in Plainfield for a while. Was curious to try this new place but despite it being busy, we got seated within 5 minutes. The place is stylish and modern at the same time which makes for great ambiance. Our waitress welcomed us and throughout the evening, before and after the food, checked to make sure if we needed anything. The food was amazing and the price point is just right. Went for lunch specials and we got sashimi, sushi rolls, and beef lo mein. All super fresh and huge portions! Each lunch special came with choice of soup or salad. 2 of us got salad, 1 miso soup. There was a choice of multiple soups. We also got 2 crab rangoons each, expertly filled and fried. I really liked the sweet and sour sauce, great consistency. Sashimi pieces were huge and there were so many of them! Tuna, salmon, swordfish, whitefish, and imitation crab. Garnished with wasabi, pickled radish, plain shredded daikon/radish, and also a beautiful flower. I was offered a side of rice with my sashimi. I wish it was sushi rice instead of jasmine rice but it worked out because my kid wanted jasmine rice. My kid didn't really like the noodles in the beef lo mein, so they ate the beef with rice. (My kids love Panda Express chow mein.) I had it as leftovers and mixed in extra green beans and it was delicious! The sushi rolls special had choice of 1, 2, or rolls. Went with 2 but could have done with 1 considering how big the other lunches were. High ratio of filling to rice. Service was super efficient and friendly. Parking was plentiful. read more

My husband and I walked in around 1 PM on Sat Aug 8th 2026. First impression: I seen wall to wall people WAITING in lobby with ALL very long faces some very impatient & angry looking. No one was at the front podium and I seen staff running around like crazy. I told my husband "Let's GO!!" So we left. If the owner is reading this maybe MORE help is needed. Don't be cheap and HIRE help. Today we tried a few rolls from here for TAKE OUT and it was just mediocre to me because I LOVE Otobo in Naperville. Nothing compares. The egg drop soup was soo THICK and miso soup was too salty (overkill). Alot of improving needing especially with customer's walking out and waiting! read more

We ordered carry out from Sushi Uni tonight to celebrate (or mourn) the last day of summer vacation. We bought two appetizers (crab rangoon and gyoza), and both were excellent. We also had the spicy crab salad -- so fresh, and the flavors were on point. We all felt like we could just order that for a meal and basically be happy with it. But then we had rolls. Their basic rolls were significantly better than a number of other places in the area. My kids especially adored the spicy California and sweet potato rolls. At this, we would've been thrilled. But their specialty rolls. Oh dang. We tried the lobster roll, which was exceptional. Their dinosaur roll disappeared in approximately 4 seconds with our crew. Their fancy smoked salmon roll was excellent. My fam is basically ready to go item by item through their entire menu. And beyond the food, the ordering process was great -- we had a friendly person take our order, the pickup time was quick, and it was ready when we got there. And they pack their orders really well, and in a really excellent bag that looks like it has strong readability potential. After one visit, we are all ready to abandon our long-time local go-tos in favor of Sushi Uni. For a place that's been open for only two weeks, we could not be more impressed. read more

Dined in on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Got to the restaurant at 4:44, and seated at 5:25-not too bad but there were plenty of empty tables. We ordered chicken hibachi, steak and shrimp hibachi, chicken fried rice and a couple of sushi rolls. The chicken hibachi came out first, they sent out shrimp hibachi instead of steak and shrimp-it took about 25 minutes for them to bring the correct dish. Each entree came with soup or salad and 2 crab rangoon. We ordered egg drop soup and had to ask for it again as we were packing up to go. Our waitress was not attentive to our party of three. The bill was 140 (ish). The hibachi entrees were overly sweet and not worth the time spent waiting. My son loved the sushi rolls. Staffed seemed very unorganized. I will not be dining anytime soon, but wish the owners good luck with their endeavor. read more

The food was fantastic. They still have a lot of things to iron out with service though. It took 20 mins for someone to come to our table and ask us even for something to drink. Then she forgot our waters. Can't make reservations but wait went quick. The girls running the host stand are perpetually confused. They sat us but forgot to take us off the wait list. We checked out this new spot on a Saturday evening and were pleasantly surprised that the wait was only about 15 minutes. The food was fresh and tasty. Went on Saturday for their lunch special. No wait, great service! It is hard to believe this was Larrys Dinner! The restaurant was nicely decorated and not too loud. Great looking inside decor. Went on a Saturday, got in at 4:30 to beat the crowd and just did, leaving at 5:30 and the line was out the door. Everything about this was great. Rangoons, awesome. Egg rolls a little pricey but great quality. Kids and I split sesame chicken and chicken lo mein all fantastic and food came out promptly. The Mrs tried two different sushi rolls and loved them both. So I normally never leave a review. This a new restaurant so I expected the service to be a little slow. We had reservations on a Friday for 6 people at 5:15. We waited over an hour for a table. Half of us got our food and the other half did not come for another 45 minutes. I will say sushi was good. Hibachi wasn't even mid. I asked for my steak to be medium and it came out well done to burnt. Was not happy with service or food. read more
