3rd visit on a random Thursday summer night (party of 2). Previously had takeout order and impromptu Valentine's Day dinner when there were more restaurant staff members. This time, we were greeted and seated immediately with menus which was nice. 3 large groups and 2 smaller groups were already being attended to. Noticed there were a total of 3 staff members including the 1 server. After 40 minutes, our server hadn't returned to check on us and a small group that entered after us must have run out of patience understandably and left with a friendly "have a nice day!" from the 1 server. Several takeout orders were being picked up during this waiting period while we took in the art and music covers playing. We received a jar of citrus water after 50 minutes and our server took our entire order, which we discussed thoroughly with the hope that it wouldn't take as long to receive - 2 drinks, back up drink in case they didn't have what we ordered originally, 1 appetizer and 2 rolls. We were informed that they were out of Kirin Ichiban beer, no big deal but we ended up not receiving our green tea (bummer because I love their toasted rice green tea). Mixed tempura was okay, the Angel Fest specialty roll we received was outstanding in flavor and ingredient balance. Unfortunately, after 2 hours of waiting we still hadn't received our 2nd specialty roll (Crunchy 2 in 1) and had to call it a night around 8:35pm. Server did apologize and offered a complimentary dessert that we turned down. Receipt had all of the items that we'd ordered but also those that we didn't receive (beers, teapot and 2nd roll); this was adjusted without issue after my husband confronted staff. The Osaka Sunrise (idk name might be wrong) pineapple/mango mixed drink we shared by default was exceptional and pretty strong not to mention photo worthy. Tip: great place for a group of friends to share basic rolls and drinks during happy hour; date night is 50/50 which may be due to understaffing. We ended up at a local Walgreens for snacks afterwards and laughed that they actually had cold Kirin Ichiban six packs for $8.99 - who would've guessed! read more

Absolutely horrible! Ordered a delivery. No napkins no chopsticks! One container of rolls had no ginger or wasabi the other had like 2 slices of ginger! 1/3 of soup liked into a plastic bag! Rolls and cheesecake came warm cuz they put it together with hot edamame and soup mochi melted! Edamame has some chunks of noodles how disgusting! I called the restaurant they hanged up twice on me and said there was no manager on shift in the end the manager called me back saying they are having some sort of difficulties like what difficulties can stop you from separating hot food from cold and putting chopsticks and napkins and giving ginger and wasabi how rolls can even go without ginger and wasabi! This is our favorite sushi restaurant in this area. The food is always well prepared. The signature rolls are well thought out. Our favorite is the cupids arrow, it always satisfies. We tried the Sumo roll; it was heated and had a savory flavor profile. Very good! The regular rolls are cheaper but also very good. We were given the edamame free for checking in with yelp. What an amazing little hidden gem! Service was super friendly. We ordered So. Much. Food. that I almost felt bad, but everything was made perfectly. For apps we had takoyaki, chicken wings, veggie spring rolls, gyoza, soft shell crab, and edamame. The takoyaki had great chunks of real octopus, the soft shell crab was melt in your mouth, and the veggie spring rolls were so fresh and delicious. Food over all was very good. I only had sushi so the sushi over all was great. The service was okay, they would ignore the customers a lot but it's understandable that they are doing other work. But I mean 15 minutes of us sitting there with empty plates and drinks should say enough, they would look and just walk past but oh well. A great experience with really fresh fish and friendly staff. The interior is inviting and really eloquently designed. The seats are comfortable and you can see the sushi chefs making rolls behind the bar which is cool. The staff all answered our questions well and were patient while we were deciding what to order. Their dishes have the funniest names- when you go make sure to take a look at the names of all of the rolls. Hilarious. We started with some drinks, something sunrise-y and fruity. It was really tasty and well made. Also a gorgeous color. We got eel with rice which was well sauced and was the perfect ratio of rice to eel. The sushi pieces on the gold colored plate were so fresh and incredible for the price. I liked the salmon the best. It was great to try a bunch of different types of fishes and caviar. Definitely a highlight of the night. We also got a couple rolls. Huge! We were genuinely starry eyed when the food came. The avocado was perfectly ripe and the fish paired perfectly. We ordered one roll (not pictured) with mango purée on it. We were curious if the flavors would pair well together and it sooo did. Somehow the texture of the fish and the mango enhanced the whole experience of eating the roll. I miss it just thinking about it while I write this. We also ordered the lemon blueberry crumb cheesecake for dessert and it was *chefs kiss* the crumble was delicious and the blueberry was sweet enough for the creamy cheesecake to mellow it out for an overall taste that was delicious and palette pleasing. HOLY HIDDEN GEM! I'd give this restaurant more stars if I could. Literally unexpectedly the FRESHEST sushi you could possibly ask for. Almost melts in your mouth. The presentation when dining in, was very nice. The staff was friendly & made it a very nice experience. We had a younger waiter and you could tell cares about his job & making sure you have a good experience. If you are dining in, def try the tuna dumpling, it's an experience. I was so excited to find a new sushi place nearby! Although I always prefer to eat inside so I can actually enjoy some warm saki with my meal, lovely COVID doesn't allow for that possibility. Hence, enter Grubhub which allowed me to find this awesome place! The prices are pretty fair, I even believe we had some kind of special through grubhub. So, with a sushi loving nut for a husband and with the minimum of Phase one of my children eating, I do wish I had purchased more. Rolls do not always fill, and it will probably be some time until I find the exact mathematical equation in order to determine how much sushi/Maki/nigiri is actually necessary to fill a family of 6. I digress, though. Phase One loved the California and Spicy Salmon Rolls, whereas the husband literally died with his Rainbow Rolls. Being a veg head myself, my veg son and I ordered the AAC rolls, the Haru Maki, and the Veggie Fried Rice. Went here for dinner tonight with wife and son. This is the best sushi I've had in a long time and certainly the best in the Romeoville area. Forget about that place down the street as there is no comparison. Between the three of us, we shared the Blackhawks roll, Rainbow roll, Cupid roll, chef's selection sampler. Fish was absolutely super fresh. Sauce with the Blackhawks roll was delicious. I could have licked the plate. I also ordered 2 of the oyster shooters (they were out of uni). One of the best things I've tasted...ever. Spicy, briny, a nice mouth feel with the yolk that is cut perfectly with the heat and acidity and the texture of the pop you get in your mouth with the fish roe. Get this. It's a show stopper. Dao's Mai Tai was also tasty. They didn't skimp on the booze. We will definitely be back. Service was great even though they were busy on a Saturday night. read more

This place was wow!! My little one wanted sushi and this place was really close by. I'm so glad we stopped by. They have so much to choose from and it wasn't super busy! We started with the "shrimp lollipops," as my little one called them and pork gyoza. Those shrimp lollipops left such an impression on us, that I really hope I can find something like that back home . They were amazing!! My little one devoured two so fast! Our entrees were sushi and a bento box. We had a total of 12 rolls, so I was stuffed. We got spicy tuna and shrimp tempura. The shrimp rolls were the best! The eel sauce on them was a perfect combination. We couldn't even finish it all. My husband on the other hand went to town with his chicken katsu bento box. The chicken was crispy! We got there at a good time because it started getting a bit busy, but it had lots of sitting and booths were huge! First off, I truly wouldn't even bother eating here. Only reason why it gets a 2 star is because the sushi was good for the price. Place had 4 tables seated, 2 servers, a sushi cook and someone in the back kitchen. It was not busy at all, took a while to be seated. Walked in, nobody around. Looked around to find a few dirty tables. Was seated in the corner where there was xerox paper, a few spare chairs and a dirty chalk board. Orders were taken right away and we were at least given water. Water did taste funny though. Ordered three rolls, two for myself and one for my girlfriend. Our server brought out my rolls and asked if we needed anything else. Girlfriend replied, my roll is missing. Our server told us it would be a few minutes. It was maybe 10 minutes before I had to get up and ask our server where her roll was. The roll was sitting on the counter. She brought it to our table and related to us that "the tempura takes a little more time because it has to cook or whatever." Girlfriend eats the one bite and looks at me...cold, to luke warm. I ate my rolls which were above average, they were not great but good for the price. We were not checked on not even once. The two servers literally just sat behind the counter doing God knows what. Again, the place was not busy. I could have ran it better by myself. I am not even joking. We finished our rolls and sat patiently waiting for one of the girls to come to our table...yeah, no. I had to get up a second time to go pay for my bill. The girl at the counter had the audacity to tell me they didn't have enough change to give me because I paid in cash. Well this is nothing like I expected it to be from the name. I thought I was going to a rotary sushi restaurant. The name is deceiving as is the logo of the restaurant. My bad. I should've checked their website or yelp first. This is a small sushi restaurant in a strip mall. There are approximately 10 tables and booths and a sushi bar area. We were greeted right away as we walked in and were shown to a booth. The menu has both raw and cooked sushi, entrées and poke bowls. There is a full bar as well. The service was terrible unfortunately. The wait staff, two girls, were more concerned about the takeout orders than the customers in the restaurant. There were three sushi chefs so we thought we would be okay seeing all the takeout orders waiting and also the continual flow of GrubHub drivers. The two girls were overwhelmed and rushed around to do it all. Obviously, they were short staffed on servers. We ordered the tuna tartare. In the Bannu it's described as "chopped tuna with mango, tomato, cucumber, onion and caviar with chefs special sauce." Nowhere does it say a fried topping. The tuna tartare came out with a huge pile of a fried crunchy topping. I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew there was a fried food element. I ordered a salad with ginger dressing on the side. The salad was crisp and cold and the ginger dressing very good. We then ordered our rolls...eel, spicy tuna, Deer Field and Mango Tango. The specialty roles were to all that special, just meh. I enjoyed the spicy tuna and the eel roll more. I waited forever to get a refill on my green tea. The second time I flagged the girl down for more tea, it never showed up. We sat there forever waiting to get their attention for our tea, but it never happened. Then we decided let's just ask for the check, which never happened because the girls were way too busy for us. So my husband went up to the line of GrubHub drivers and waited his turn to ask for the bill handing out orders and paid our bill there. It's hard for them to write such a negative review, but I do pride myself and being honest with my experiences. I don't think I will be back to this restaurant for a couple reasons...the slow service and not getting attention when we requested a refill and the mediocre sushi. We went here for my girlfriend's birthday with a party of 14 and they were very accommodating!! They were quick with all of our requests and went above and beyond. HORRIBLE service. Stopped in for an early dinner with my boyfriend. Stood at the front entrance for a while before we were even greeted. Multiple tables were dirty so they sat us in the first booth hidden between the front window and front door. Sat down and placed out order right away. We sat there giving them some time before flagging the waitress down. 10-15 minutes passed by, he was nearly finished with both rolls and I still hadn't got mine. Went up to the front counter to ask about the other dish and she looked around and they were just sitting there. When the waitress brought them over she stated they take longer because the tempura needs to be fried. The roll was ice cold. While eating, no one came to ask how everything was tasting. Once we finished we sat for another 10-15 minutes before just getting up to go to the cash register to close out so we can leave. A few friends and I ordered from this restaurant and all of us were very disappointed in the quality of food- and the aftertaste! Apparently it used to be a really great restaurant but then it sold to new owners and they are definitely taking so many shortcuts on the food. First of all, there was no seasoning on any of our meals. Two of my friends got Ramen and that was so bland and flavorless. The chicken that came in a teriyaki meal for $16 reminded me of the chicken from Subway (very spongy and fake tasting). Just sharing this so that you don't make the same mistake we did!
