Always wanted to try this sushi train that's located downtown mpls. Unique features with the sushi rolling down a conveyor belt for patrons to grab anyone they'd like. The plates are color labeled which means each color represents a different price for the sushi. Sushi overall was decent neither the best nor the worst. Staff friendly and I liked my waiter he was really helpful in guiding me through the process of picking sushi. They also have other food options as well.

Not as good as the uptown location. Sushi wasn't as fresh and the rice wasn't right for sushi - too sticky and wet, and more like cheaper Chinese rice than Japanese sushi rice. And the age dashi tofu was just batter fried tofu with a disappointingly thick batter. Not the delicate rice flour coating it should be.

This was my first sushi conveyor belt experience and it was a lot of fun! If you are going to eat a lot of sushi, this may not be the most economical, because those purple plates drive the price up pretty quick, but it is a great way to try a bunch of different sushi items, and also works well for sharing. In addition to the sushi train, there is also full menu of ramen, apps and poke bowls. We ordered some spring rolls and gyoza from the menu, and then went all in on the sushi train! Items are priced by plate, with the purple plates at $7.00 being the most expensive. The sushi was fairly good overall. The only item I had that I did not care for was the octopus role. Not the best sushi I have had in the TC, but not the worst either, and it is a fun experience. Our server was kind and attentive. We went at lunch on a weekday and there was absolutely no reservation needed.

This place still has bad service. It took 10+ minutes to get a glass of water after I had been seated. Water was never refilled. Had a few plates, everything was fine, nothing spectacular. An easy sushi fix if you are in the area but overall I'd never feel ok recommending this place due to the bad service.

Stopped by Sushi Train for dinner before seeing a show at Orchestra Hall - the location is great! Easy walking distance (about 1 block). Very fun experience watching the sushi go by on the conveyer belt. I liked that the menus on the table go into detail about what's in each roll. Each roll is labeled and also clearly states if it's cooked or raw. You pay by plate and each color means a different price point. Our server was so accommodating and since our ordered appetizer (not on the conveyer belt) came late, he took care of one round of drinks for us. So nice!

Want to try revolving sushi? Want to dine without waiting ? Want surprised? Want attentive service ? Come try! Food 3/5 Some items 2/5 (crispy rice; rice was hard and not crispy; ) mackerel (dry and been out long) Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 For a quick lunch ? This is fine I do worry just a little about food safety and the temperature of the items... some might have been out long at room temp....

This was first conveyor belt sushi place I've been to. The staff was amazing especially Keri my former coworker from ages ago. The sushi was good. Spicy tuna took awhile to get to us. My THC drink was fantastic. It was a flower night so not many people are around.

Sat at the counter and had easy access to sushi train.

Pros: close to the Minneapolis convention center so I was able to pop in for a quick lunch. The food was good and they seemed to refresh the food. Con: the server was rude, but everyone else I encountered was lovely so overall a great visit

We were looking forward to a sushi train spot, after being without one locally since we moved South. We arrived early evening and were one of only two couples in the restaurant. Our server was wonderful and the concept fun but the food was simply not good. At previous sushi train restaurants we have been to, we have seen them frequently switch out sushi on the belt for fresh versions. We were there over an hour and never once saw them replace any of the plates, which was a bit off-putting. The sushi with fried items were cold and soft, sweet potatoes undercooked, and the ramen lacking any substance or flavor. The veggie tempura was good, however. Even if we lived nearby, we still wouldn't be back to this spot, even with the convenience and cool concept. The cost snuck up quickly but we appreciated that the cost was clear based on the color of plate. Some unique items and desserts on the belt as well.

The sushi train

We went for lunch. Very modern decor and clean. Many options on the conveyor the whole time we were there. The sushi was excellent and ever reasonably priced. The waiter great. Explained everything very clearly.

Dried out wasabi and ginger.

We've been coming to Sushi Train for maybe five or six years. In the last year the service has become terrible. One time in the winter we had a server demand we fire our real estate agent and hire him instead. Today we've been rudely told to stand in another area - the rest of the waiting area had only been vacated for 10 seconds. Today our waiter loudly demanded that we order something other than water. My dude, so sorry but *demanding* I do something optional is a great way to make sure I don't do it. After that he couldn't be bothered to take our order, refill water, or take the order for the drink. Water was warm. The food quality is okay. The food here has never been bad - but the quality has been higher in the past. There is one exception - the wasabi is terrible. It was so dried out I have to cut it in half to get something moist.

Sushi train is a fun conveyor about sushi restaurant on Nicolette Mall. It was very busy the evening I went. We were able to be seated at a table after waiting a few minutes. Different colored plates of sushi were rotating through the conveyor belt constantly. The price per plate is listed on the wall. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I wish the rice had been seasoned with a little bit more mirin, but overall sushi quality was good. It was busy and lively and has a fun atmosphere. Seating is at tables for two or booths that can seat four, so it might be hard to have larger groups and sit together. The sushi chefs were constantly making sushi for the customers to eat. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you like a conveyor belt sushi restaurant with an energetic vibe.

Pretty fun Sushi joint. I'd go back no problem. Good variety. Parking is not easy though.

Yes

What is the price? Is it all you can eat after you pay?

Server took our drinks order pretty quickly and we were also able to order our food quickly as well. The restaurant is spacious and you don't feel like you are packed in there with other guests. Sometimes with grilling restaurants, the table can get small. Felt like there was good enough room and didn't feel like I'd knock over my wine or food. We got the silver set and an order of scallops and we had leftovers! Plenty of food for two people. The scallops were huge and meats were quality. Pretty clean, not a lot of marinade so if you like more salty/ flavor, dip in a lot of sauce. It's a good option if you like to cook your own food due to quality of meats provided. Would recommend ordering à la carte once you know what you like. The combo set is a good sampler to get a variety to taste

I finally made it out to the illustrious Gyu-Mai, I've heard so many great things about this…read morerestaurant and got to experience the all you can eat. It was fantastic, the amount of food that you get in the all you can eat menu is pretty significant. For $42.99 we all got the all you can eat dinner which included unlimited apps like seaweed salad, chicken wings, sweet potato fries, edamame. Sides like fried rice or fried udon noodles. Mains like ribeye steak, bone in short ribs, pork belly, chicken breast, garlic shrimp, and various fish. These are only what we tried, there's so much on the menu I'm certain anyone could find something they like. They also let you swap the grill pad anytime you want. Fish came in these circular aluminum foil tins and we ordered salmon and yellow tail. Neither of the fish dishes were very good, fishy and texture slightly off putting. I wish there were a way to grill directly on the pan for the sear marks and char but I understand why they have it the way they do. I would probably pass on the fish. I was also obsessed with the appetizer from the main menu called Salty Cucumber. It had chili flakes, salt, and other seasonings on top of cucumber it was so fresh and savory. We also ordered the Cheese Wontons off the main menu, these were lighter than traditional cream cheese wontons but in a good way, didn't feel overly greasy. These particular apps were about $6.95 each. Overall a fun experience. You cook everything for the most part and you should definitely have a friend or experienced bbq master with you to make sure everything is cooked properly. They do have a side guide for how long to cook each side for beginners which is a nice touch! 10/10 would recommend, I've never had Japanese BBQ like this, the most similar experience I've had would be Korean BBQ. This truly was a fun interactive dinner.

Cream cheese - typical but kind of small Chicken Katsu- crunch outside and not dry inside Ramen- from the presentation, does not look creamy. It also did not taste creamy. Doesn't have the typical tonkotsu ramen taste I've had before. Broth is a little bland. The pork belly is basically pork belly and not the typically ramen chashu pork I'm used to. It was a disappointing bowl of ramen. Sushi- presentation wise, does not look fancy. The plating looks like what you would get at an all you can eat place. Per husband, it was decent good. As for me, based on ramen, I would not go back for that. Maybe next time I will give sushi a try but not sure if it's a god back to place. If you want $5 appetizers, it's worth a try. If you get happy hour sushi rolls for $13 each is not too bad but regular price is about $17 per roll (like dynamite roll.) Service was quick. Food came out in 10 mins or less but it was not busy when we went as well.

Drinks: The Last Samurai cocktail & the Imposter Among Us mocktail were both delightful. Love the unique drink options, and the two we had were executed beautifully. Sushi: Unfortunately, the sushi was a bit disappointing. We had the hotate yuzu, Suzuki oshizushi, tamago nigiri, and the futomaki. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though. Dessert: The yuzu custard - one of my favorite desserts I've eaten in a long time. Definitely the best thing we had and I would absolutely get it again. Service: Our service was pretty good.
