Cafe Yoto has become a staple for me! The food is fresh and delicious. The selection offers options from donburi to temaki. Service is quick and easy. The strawberry matcha is tasty! Definitely recommend!

Great restaurant to check out in the north loop area. Sushi is fresh and delicious. I came for their 1 year anniversary and got to try some amazing cuts. The restaurant is spacious and never overly busy. Order at the counter and find your own seats. Staff has always been welcoming. Lots of natural light really ups the mood there.

Wanted to try this place since someone I know from Sanjusan recommended this place. Glad I did. I lives by 4 blocks away and this has been my go to Lunch for the weekend. Ambiance was nice, service was great. Foods were delicious, 4 stars because the udon needs little bits more flavor in my opinion. ( and yes, I been to Japan many times and half Japanese myself ) Overall, Outstanding place :) Pics are from 4 months ago !

I really enjoyed my visit to Cafe Yoto. The space is clean, bright, and welcoming and the food is simple and flavorful. I am happy they're open late and have a relaxed fast casual atmosphere. I tried the karaage don (fried chicken rice bowl) and two temaki: the spicy salmon and spicy tuna (nori wrapped rice with toppings). Both were delicious and I'd order them again! The staff members were friendly and service was quick. Parking in the neighborhood is typically metered, with some free parking on weekends. Events can affect that too.

Amazing table service! Minimal decor but the space is very clean with beautiful plants. I utilized paid street parking when dining in. I ordered the match latte that was just as beautiful in person as it was online and the spicy salmon donburi. Which had a nice spice level and perfectly cooked rice. The salmon was delicious and the cucumbers gave it a nice crunch. I would definitely stop in again and try more of the menu.

So so good! It looked like a long line when we got there right at noon but service was quick and easy. The food was delicious. I got a side of chili crunch for my bowl which gave it a nice kick. It was also a great size, very filling. I'll definitely come back to try more of the menu, they have quite a bit of options and the beverages looked delicious.

Gyoza of the day and Karaage Udon

I visited Cafe Yoto for a workday lunch some co-workers and overall had a good experience. The location is easy to find and the restaurant had plenty of tables to choose from. I ordered the Gyoza of the day which was chicken and vegetables, as well as the Karaage Udon. The Gyoza was delicious and I would order it again! The Karaage Udon was just okay. The homemade noodles were good but I felt it lacked flavor. However, the Japanese fried chicken served with the udon was perfectly cooked and seasoned! Overall, I would visit Cafe Yoto for lunch again but order different menu items to see if I enjoyed the flavors of those more.

Wowww, what a cute place that just opened in North Loop! I went during a Saturday night and it was pretty busy but the line went by fast. Since it was my first time, I wanted to try a lot of things so, I got a little bit of everything. I ordered the niku udon, unajyu donburi, mentaiko scallop temaki, karaage and matcha cream cake. I liked everything. I would def say it's more small bites, I was still hungry a little after eating everything but it was still good. I would want to come back to try out different dishes they have. I wouldn't have I have a favorite yet that stood out to me but everything was still good and worth trying!

A lovely Japanese fast-casual eatery that's a perfect addition to the neighborhood! I recommend looking at the menu ahead of time, because it is dense with variety of delicious plates. I ordered the ebi shiso ($12 beautifully tempura-fried shrimp with shiso leaf), unajyu ($19 grilled eel over rice, delicious and loved the sauce) and Marc Heu Patisserie's black sesame cake ($8, dry but good flavor). I will definitely be back to try more of the menu! This is definitely a place for small bites, so I recommend bringing a group and sharing. The service is great, especially considering they just opened, they already seem to have found their rhythm. Parking isn't free with metered on-street, and a few parking ramps nearby.

Fat udon! Fat noodles! I can confirm that the udon noodle bowls are incredibly satisfying! From the chef's pop-up days at Kado No Mise last year to now, it's exciting to see this concept evolve into a brick-and-mortar spot I can keep coming back to for this amazing culinary experience. I love the casual, fast-food-style Japanese joint vibe. Everything on the menu is a hit from fresh sushi, incredible rice, to flavors that are just so fresh and delicious. The seaweed for the temaki even has that perfect crunch! And the dessert, a collaboration with Marc Heu, is the perfect finishing touch. I've loved red bean since I was a kid, so biting into that cake instantly brought back childhood memories. I won't say much more because this spot deserves to stay a hidden gem!

Fun fast casual spot in the heart of the north loop brought to you by the minds behind Sanjusan. Hits the spot when you want a western take on Japanese street food. Friendly staff. Inspired menu. Check it out!

Whoa, this place is remarkable. First, the Udon was the reason we came. The chef here was a Kado No Mise understudy. I guess also they invested in this special noodle making machine that turns daily fresh dough into thick noodles. That was enough to get us to visit. The Udon broth was light and refreshing, and the Japanese fried chicken was great. It's served not in the soup initially, but then you add it and it retains its texture (especially because you can't help but it eat this delicious soup swiftly). When you order the temaki rolls there's a plastic sleeve that you pull out right before you take your bite. It's a little weird, but the result is as intended... a crisp bite of the seaweed with the soft warm texture of the rice along with the fresh fish and avocado. Worth it! Lastly, the Kado Donburi was amazing as well. Overall, I really enjoyed it. We treated this as a date night, and it was delicious! However, don't expect "order at the counter" prices. It's expensive in that regard, but food-to-food it was a cheap date night with excellent dishes.

I sampled a few things, they didn't disappoint. I love the Una JYU, the grilled eel bowl. The eels are soft and juicy, a mouthwatering piece for sure. I am very impressed by the Ispahan cream puff, and matcha cream cake, light and pleasant, typical Asian dessert, rare finding in mid west. The authenticity of the taste gained my confidence to try more on the menu. Services are fast and friendly. Although it's a bit pricey for casual dining, I think it's worth the money because of the taste.

From the moment we arrived, the valet parking made everything easy (though I recommend taking an Uber if you're doing the wine pairing... you'll definitely want to savor every sip). We went for the Matsu omakase, and wow -- every course was a work of art. The freshly grated wasabi, the thoughtful pacing, and watching each dish come to life at the sushi bar turned dinner into a full sensory experience. Chef Shiga was an incredible host -- friendly, engaging, and clearly passionate about his craft. And to top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting Owner-Chef Shigeyuki Furukawa at the end of our meal -- such a gracious and humble culinary genius! My wife and I left absolutely blown away and already planning our next visit. Perfect for a date night, a special celebration, or simply treating yourself to something unforgettable. Cream cheese - typical but kind of small Chicken Katsu- crunch outside and not dry inside Ramen- from the presentation, does not look creamy. It also did not taste creamy. Drinks: The Last Samurai cocktail & the Imposter Among Us mocktail were both delightful. Love the unique drink options, and the two we had were executed beautifully. Sushi: Unfortunately, the sushi was a bit disappointing. We had the hotate yuzu, Suzuki oshizushi, tamago nigiri, and the futomaki. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though. Dessert: The yuzu custard - one of my favorite desserts I've eaten in a long time. Definitely the best thing we had and I would absolutely get it again. Service: Our service was pretty good. I did watch one of the other servers grab soup spoons by the part you eat from and then bring them to a table which was concerning. Our server was fantastic - we weren't sure how hungry we were so we just ordered rolls, nagiri, and onigiri as the dinner rolled on with no real objective other than than walking away full - and he just rolled with us as we went. The sake flight was great with some generous pours but I was disappointed in the mocktails. The rolls were delicious, albeit a bit basic. The onigiri was great and I was a huge fan of the salmon but the tuna just wasn't hitting for me.
