Crazy Tuna Roll in back and Momo roll in front. Both delicious.
    Camille L.

I'm downgrading this to four stars since I had bad stomach pain on and off for a week after dining here and so did my friend and husband after he ate the food. We think the sashimi was the cause and the pain started during the meal. We ordered rolls, momos and sashimi. The first time I dined here I got rolls only and had no issues. I rarely get stomach pain and the last time I experienced this type of pain was about 20 years ago. I still really enjoy the sushi here and my previous review about the food is still accurate. If I came back I'd probably just stick to sushi rolls and/or cooked food.

I feel like I've been living under a rock not having eaten at momo until now!! A friend and I stopped by on a nice Saturday night and they had a rather large crowd waiting on the patio, but the heaters were on and they handed out some complimentary warm drinks so the time went quickly. Inside was cozy and we got seated with complimentary miso soup. The value here is incredible! Prices are affordable and portions are large. We both ordered sushi, but the fried rice we saw someone else order looked amazing (and giant). Every piece of sashimi I had tasted super fresh, I already can't wait to go back soon!

I've been here a few times! Their food is pretty good but I'm a bigger fan of their sister restaurant AMA. The service is a bit off here at times as I noticed they tend to forget silverware and waters when asked. But it's also super busy when my friends and I go. Try to get the Sushi Bucket! It's a whole lot of food and it's pretty good!

I loved this place! The aesthetic was so cute and I loved the fun facts on the table about Japan. Our service was quick and the sushi was yummy! There were a lot of people in the restaurant and definitely deserved. Great vibes and great food!

Great deal for good quality sushi! I love their sushi/sashimi combos that let you try a variety of options. Pricing is very fair for what you get. Only complaint is the service can be pretty slow if you dine inside. The waiters were all super nice, they just need more staff when it's a busy time like weekend dinner. Otherwise, great food!

Always love going to Momo for affordable sushi!! They have lunch specials until 2:45. Sashimis are very thick and tasty! The hamachi Kama has been my favorite each time I go!! It's always a good vibe -- patio area is nice and now has a garden shed. Service was alright but we were given the option to sit where we wanted!

Chirashi ($18.95). 10 pcs chef's choice sashimi over rice, plus a little seaweed salad and oshinko!

My go-to sushi place in Minneapolis! Their cuts of sashimi are the THICKEST I've ever seen in my life and the quality of fish is sooooo good. Their sushi rice is also perfectly seasoned, and is the exact right consistency every time. I'm big on the lunch specials here--their sushi-sashimi lunch ($14.95) is one of the best deals in town! 4 pieces of nigiri, 6 pieces of sashimi, and a tuna roll. The nigiri and sashimi are chef's choice and rotate, but you can always expect salmon and tuna to me in the mix (and their salmon is the best I've ever had--soooo buttery and smooth!). Whether you dine in or order to-go, you also get a complimentary miso soup with your order, which makes it an even sweeter deal than it already is. When I come for dinner, my go-to is the chirashi ($18.95), which is 10 pcs of chef's choice sashimi over their (again, perfectly-seasoned) rice. The cuts are enormous, it's so filling, and I would literally eat an entire bowl of their oshinko (the yellow pickled radish) if that were an option. It's a hip vibe, and pretty popular in the area, so definitely expect a wait if you go on a weekend night, but since we went during December and it was freezing, they had a warming tent set up outside for folks to wait in. They've got a nice patio where you can eat outside during the summer, and I think part of it may be heated in the winter (but don't quote me on that). The service is always quick and attentive, so even on the busiest of nights, your wait is never long. This place is an absolute gem and unbelievable value--I truly believe their fish cuts are on par with some of the more expensive spots in the area! Give it a try (whether you're in the area for lunch or dinner is immaterial)--you won't regret it!

Top to bottom: shrimp tempura, eel, spicy salmon, and salmon avocado
    Tiffany T.

I went back and tried a mix of their specialty rolls and regular rolls. Their specialty rolls taste really good, fresh, and flavorful. My favorite is the March roll. It comes with spicy Kani, spicy tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, shrimp tempura, eel sauce, and wasabi tobiko. Their fish is consistently fresh, they don't put too much rice, and their service is excellent. I still don't taste rice vinegar in the sushi rice, but it's ok because the specialty rolls have other added flavors. Surprisingly, after eating Momo's sushi, I don't feel like I've had a heavy meal, so I really like that about the restaurant and their sushi!

I've gotten takeout from Momo Sushi a couple of times and dined in two other times. All my experiences have been fantastic! Everything is always delicious and service has been perfect. My favorite thing to get here is the Sushi Bucket, which always has a great assortment of sushi (5 pieces of sushi, 9 pieces of sashimi, a California roll, and 2 chef′s choice special rolls). Other great things I've had are the Sushi and Sashimi Combo and the beef and vegetable momos (Half and Half Momo). The restaurant has a cozy waiting area and fire pits outside for when it's cold. In the summer, the outdoor seating is great. It's typically easy to find street parking in the neighborhood!

    Kaylie A.

Very authentic sushi spot! Parking was a little difficult because you cannot use the lot next door, but there were some street spots available. The restaurant overall is super cute and the patio is nicely decorated with plants and florals. As an appetizer, they came out with miso soup and it was a great little treat that they added to the service. We ordered some gyoza and a few rolls to split that was delicious! The servers were very friendly and speedy. Overall I would recommend!

Momo is consistently good and consistently fresh. This is a sushi spot where you never have to worry about freshness or quality - they always deliver. Their prices have always remained reasonable as well. Momo serves classic and eclectic American sushi rolls, along with several other Asian-fusion dishes. The facility is cute, casual, and family-friendly but also very crowded most of the time (completely out of the restaurants control - just a sign of how loved they are by the Minneapolis community!). My only complaint about Momo is that, on occasion, the food takes an extensive amount of time to arrive to the table (usually on a Weekend night). However, the staff has been very apologetic when this happens. Overall, this is my favorite sushi spot I came across in all of Minneapolis during my years there. My go-to order: Momo roll, Beauty and the Beast, and a Salmon Avocado roll. Great everytime. One of my favorite things about Momo is their seaweed salad-topped rolls. They are a great touch if you like seaweed salad and not offered at all sushi spots! Love this place.

Great sushi at this NE Mpls spot! This place is hopping on the weekend, so either go early for dinner or be ready to wait for a table. They do have outdoor seating, so that's a bonus when it's nice out. The inside is trendy, hip and cozy at the same time.

We had the salmon carpaccio which was the highlight of the meal. It was similar to a sashimi but was doused in a delicious sauce. We then had the squid game which has a much smokier flavor than expected - it almost had an essence of teriyaki and was probably our least favorite though not bad. We went with two rolls: the 2-14 and the Mishap. Both were absolutely delicious. We were ready to order more but our waiter was nowhere to be found. We waited several minutes and then decided to just get the check instead. We recently moved from a place known for its sushi so we found the quality of fish here to be good - but not outstanding and would echo the sentiment that prices are pretty astronomical. The vibe of the place was cool and the dishes were good but the price and service definitely cost it a star. We walked because parking in the area did look pretty tough!

From the moment we arrived, the valet parking made everything easy (though I recommend taking an Uber if you're doing the wine pairing... you'll definitely want to savor every sip). We went for the Matsu omakase, and wow -- every course was a work of art. From the time we arrived staff were kind, and our server was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The interior of this restaurant was also gorgeous, simple, refined and minimalist. The menu can be a bit hard to navigate since so many menu options are unique but the server expertly guided us through. We ordered the Maitake Karaage, Duck Tataki, Mentaiko Lumache, chicken thigh yakitori, and a wagyu yakitori. Likes Vs Dislikes: LIKE the Maitake Karaage - this was the best dish of the evening. Fried mushrooms with scallion mayo, gave the texture and flavor of fried calamari but it's actually mushroom. LIKE the Mentaiko Lumache - this pasta was incredible. Perfectly al dente noodles with a unique almost cup shape that gave a nice bite of noodle and sauce together. The sauce was delicious! Dislike the yakitori - felt like there was little to no value here. You pay $7 per skewer which contains barely 3 bites of chicken. It was pretty average tasting too. Wouldn't waste the money. Like and dislike the Duck Tataki - delicious in flavor, nice and fatty, ponzu and mango added a great flavor. Disliked that for $22 you get hardly 4-5 bites of duck. Tiny tiny skinny bites mind you. Felt like the value wasn't there for this fish given how good it actually tasted. I'd look elsewhere on the menu. Overall, given what we liked, the ambience and staff, I am giving this a 5/5. If money isn't a factor then come here and go crazy, but if value matters then stray away from the yakitori and Duck Tataki, just my 2 cents.

Recently, I started coming for the food dinner and realized I was missing a lot. Their menu is very thoughtful in each dish has a nice variety of textures and flavors. I will say that their Ramen is one of the best in town. I think really what sets it apart is the broth being super in depth and they grill the pork belly which makes it really smoky and tender. This time I branched out and got the grilled squid as well and it was exceptional. The soy ginger glaze on it was incredible. The only few downsides I think I've noticed is service can be a little bit hit or miss which is surprising how small the places. Even when sitting at the bar, it took a little bit to get their attention. Also, I've tried a few of the cocktails and for the main part they just taste like alcohol with a soda. They sound extremely creative on the menu, but the balance isn't there. Either way I've typically gotten sake as they have a nice little selection. Overall, I love the whole vibe of this place. The rice was unfortunately undercooked, and also too lightly seasoned. The tamago was alright, the futomaki was very good though.
