We had a great experience here last night! Restaurant is super clean, and staff are very kind. They only had a couple of staff working, however despite this, they were hustling to ensure customer's needs were taken care of. The rolls were generous with rice to fish ratio, and super fresh. We did wait awhile to get our food, but didn't mind as the quality was great! We loved every roll we tried, but our favorite was the Santa Barbara roll, it was really yummy! Super reasonably priced for what we ordered, and looking forward to coming back! read more

I don't understand how this sushi restaurant got the high rated reviews. Food and service we're not good. Rude waitress with no service skills. They never came by to check on us nor gave refills for our drinks. The waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for refill of hot water. The waitress point over to an area and told us refill our own hot water. We ordered 6 rolls and 2 Bento boxes. The bento box, don't order it the portions are very small, less than any kids meal. However, if you enjoy rice. You'll get a nice prtion it. One of the items we ordered was the baked mussels. It was horrible. How could baked mussels goes wrong. The mussels were not fresh very fishy, it was drown in a brown sauce (maybe eel sauce). The rolls were ok, edible. We won't be returning. read more

Be ready to wait!! We decided to give this place a try since we were craving some rolls. It took us about 30 minutes after ordering to receive our food which was mediocre. The fish wasn't as fresh as hoped. The dynamite roll is the only roll we'd order again, but unfortunately it was more imitation crab meat than scallops on top. I truly wanted to like this place after reading so many amazing reviews, but our experience was a big letdown. It was a packed house with only one server working, which made everything painfully slow. We placed our food and drink orders, but after waiting over 20 minutes with no drinks in sight, we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. One server for the entire restaurant on a busy Saturday just doesn't make sense. Really disappointing. read more

Place looked packed upon arrival, already says something. Despite that, we were helped within seconds of entering, and were voluntarily offered parking for our scooters in the restaurant. I ordered the Salmon Skin, California, Spicy Tuna, and Caterpillar Roll. The ingredients tasted decent, a step up from the size of this place. California roll wasn't the best I've ever had, and the tuna felt a bit broken down, not with as much of a kick as I expected. The caterpillar roll came with generous avocado slices, and was contrasted nicely with the teriyaki sauce that was well balanced atop the roll. The salmon skin roll was one of the best I've ever had, highly recommend getting those two rolls. The fish a little less than room temperature, similar to the feel of the restaurant. All this was accompanied by a refreshing palate cleanser of a mango smoothie. The music is a great level, the environment feels great, and the comfort level is pretty nice. If you've got an hour or two to kill, definitely hit this place. Something tells me there's more to this than it looks. read more

I think the ownership for the place might've changed recently cause DAMN these are some expensive sushi. i ordered the yellowtail carpaccio cause from the layout of the menu i thought i could choose. But they later told me that it's gonna be an extra 4 dollars for all yellowtail, so in total 28.99 for 6 pieces of yellowtail....no thank you. instead i ordered just 2 orders of yellowtail sushi which would've satisfied me if it wasn't so bloody. it was to the point where it tasted way too metallic like and really just forced myself to wash it down with gulpfus of water. the layout of the restaurant is still about the same, a little too crowded tbh with so many tables. read more

The sushi itself was good, but unfortunately the service really took away from the experience. I was charged a random $4 fee for yellowtail, even though there is no mention of an additional charge anywhere on the menu. When I ordered a Thai tea (which was $10), it was filled only to the very first line of the cup--leaving almost an inch and a half of empty space to the lid. I politely asked if it could be filled properly given the price, and the server gave me attitude and still didn't fill it all the way (Shown in the photo) I didn't catch her name, but she had short hair and glasses. The attitude and lack of transparency with pricing really ruined what could have been an enjoyable visit. read more

Group of 6, they were able to accommodate our party right away & brought waters out without us asking. Customer service was on point! Food was amazing!! Loved all the options! Thank you for a great meal, we were craving sushi & your establishment took care of our craving! My 2 yr old grandson loved the miso soup too! Only thing that is a con is they don't have many specials options other than a 3 roll special, only suggestion is maybe allow 3 roll special with options of rolls as not everyone can eat spicy food. Stopped by on a Monday afternoon Ramen- tonkotsu ramen- good flavor and actually had some vegetables variety, as well as a big bowl Service- was quick. Place was pretty empty so plenty staff Sushi- $17 for sushi with fake crab should be a crime, that's like calling McDonald's burger good Sushi not served with garlic, or wasabi which should be staple anywhere Table side condiments- fake chilli oil, having some sort of actual chilli oil available would be great, even the one from the supermarket at this point Dinner for 2, $70, 2 ramen, 1 sushi Would only come back as a last minute resort spot. Our family was staying in Riverside while visiting family for Christmas. We got in on Christmas Eve and was looking for a place for dinner. We're so glad that Sushi Times was so close. An amazing place with superb service, affordable prices and delicious food! Appreciated that Sushi Times was open on Christmas Eve and there was parking available on site. The owner, Moses was so friendly and kind. He took time to answer our questions and help us decide what to order. My wife got the 12 piece sushi set, my teens split some ramen and a roll and I ordered the tempura udon. Our food arrived quickly and we all loved it. The fish was fresh and the portions were generous. My udon had a great chew/ bounce to it. The kids devoured the roll and ramen. Our big was way lower than what we've paid at lesser quality sushi spots. UC Riverside is blessed with this gem being so close to campus. You gotta check it out! read more

I was currently craving Japanese curry and there aren't a lot of options in the area. However, my boyfriend pointed out that this place had it and although I was skeptical, I was willing to try it. Honestly, the portions are pretty big and I thought it was fine. The chicken Katsu wasn't dry and it wasn't heavily breaded which I liked! It was pretty good! Sometimes when I go to sushi, vegetarian items are hard to come by. The Avocado Roll was amazing, but the 4 Piece Agedashi Tofu... oh my goodness. Everything was presented very beautifully and the fish was all fresh. The rice to fish and filling ratio was perfect, no too much rice. We ended our meal with a fried green tea ice cream which was fantastic and perfect to split amongst the four of us after all the delicious food before it. We met the owner who was a really nice guy too. Really surprised to find a solid sushi spot in the middle of the Riverside. I would not mind returning here anytime I'm back in the area!

It seemed like they may have only had one cook, which affected timing. Our waitress was kind, but overall the service and experience just didn't match our first visit. Sadly, I may not return.

The price was also a big plus: $13.99 for a bowl of ramen, a sushi roll, and a drink is a great deal. My wife ordered two rolls--the Salmon on Fire and the Caterpillar Roll. Both were tasty and comparable to what we've had at other sushi spots. We also tried the gyozas, which were average. Customer service could use some improvement. Our waitress wasn't rude, but she seemed rushed and tried to take our order almost immediately after we sat down. Since it was our first time, we needed a moment to look over the menu. Overall, the food and value were solid, but the service and small details could be better. I'd rate Sushi R 91 a 3.5 out of 5.
