Sushi is my favorite. Sushi is great, just like their other spott. We are huge fans of their other location. Unfortunately this misses the mark. Massively. Lighting is terrible. Its freezing. The doors are janky and breezy. The seating is like that of a cafeteria. The sound sucks. No atmosphere whatsoever. No beer. Theres a TV there which is nice but good luck seeing it comfortably. I feel bad for the staff. Its a great quality product, but mismatched buzzing 30 yr old fluorescent tubes buzzing overhead with a terrible atmosphere doesnt make for a good environment. Im pretty sure these things are out of control because of whoever owns the building (most building owners on Main st in Monroe cant give 2 fe ks about the businesses there as they are not local) but until their rolls are half off, or they get something better than a Bluetooth speaker to play less shitty music, ill be going elsewhere. Ill probably go again, just to get my fix, but this place needs a serious looking at to improve the atmosphere. Even some fake plants from the dollar store would be an improvement. read more

My wife and I met our friends for dinner at Sushi Spot. Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Sushi Spot shares a spot in the building, therefore does not have its own restroom. Restroom is located at the end of the building hallway. Indoors is small felt unfinished to me. Unfortunately, Sushi Spot does not have a liquor license so I was unable to enjoy a glass of wine with my dinner. Sushi Spot doesn't really offer any dishes for people who do no care for sushi, example Teriyaki. We sipped on complimentary hot green tea while looking over the menu. For an appetizer we shared the Edamame for $5.50. My wife ordered Spam Musubi for $5.50 and the Super Spider Roll for $16.95. I ordered the BTS Roll for $17.95: crabmeat, shrimp tempura, avocado, unagi, salmon and jalapenos. I was a bit disappointed that the jalapenos were pickled rather that freshly sliced. Staff was friendly. Overall, Sushi Spot didn't meet my standards for a sushi dinner; lacking liquor and ambiance. In the future I would place a to-go order to enjoy at home instead of dining in. read more

Solid place. The food was delicious. The service wasn't amazing but it also was perfectly acceptable for the location and ambiance of the place. We went on a Tuesday at 7:30pm and we were seated immediately. The drinks weren't on the menu, so to see what they had available you had to peak in the cooler. There was also no air conditioning. However, it's been almost a year and the fryer has never been materialized so there are several things on the menu that are still not available. We had hoped it would be like the one in Mill Creek that has some non seafood items like Teriyaki available to make it more group friendly. This little spot is among the top 25 to 30% of sushi spots in the area. It's not a top 5, but it's not far behind. Our first time here, and I don't usually do five stars on a first visit, but this place deserves it. There was a huge and creative selection of specialty rolls. Wow! And the five we had were all good. The Love Boat was stunning, and the katsu was delicious. The service was friendly and helpful, but just the tiniest bit distracted at times. We went on a Sunday at opening time. It was delicious, and we will be back. It's hands down the absolute best sushi place in Monroe--there's not really any contest, and it's not even close. Excited to see a sushi place opening up in Monroe. First impressions: soft opening week hiccups here and there but it's totally understandable. Willing to be patient on that front. Hope the fryer will be up and running soon and they will have hot beverage option since I like to have my sushi with hot green tea. It's nice and spacious inside of an old building. Wish they lose the fluorescent lighting it would improve the vibe in there. The instant Asian ramen packages on the wall behind the register was a little peculiar and imo, cheapens the look of the place. The food: Lots to choose from on the menu especially if you love sushi rolls. Ordered nigiri and sashimi and a few rolls. Really enjoyed the rolls I ordered for us. The mad for garlic roll was creatively delicious with crispy garlic bits sprinkled on top. The lemon on the lemon roll gives a surprising good tang. The four seasons roll were packed with 4 kinds of fish wrapped in seaweed topped with briny ikura (salmon roe) and black tobiko which added texture and briny flavor. Overall, we both liked the rolls a lot! They all tasted very fresh and delicious. I barely dipped my sushi in wasabi soy it really didn't need it. Hope they keep everything super fresh. There's uni (sea urchin) listed on the seasonal section but the only thing they had was otoro (fattiest grade tuna belly) which was above average but not the best I had for 3 sashimi at $20. The really good ones they melt in your mouth. 4.5 stars for Monroe. 4 stars compared to Sushi Koushi (highest quality fish and sushi rice). To begin with, I am unable to discuss anything about this restaurant's food, but our experience with the place was extremely lacking. My husband and I brought our daughter, her husband, and their two kids to the restaurant to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday. With the exception of my husband, our entire group normally enjoys sushi. Upon reviewing the menu online, it leads one to believe that they offer a happy hour discount and non-seafood options so we decided to try out this new place. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had entered a post office. The ambiance and staff were not welcoming. It appeared having to seat a group of four adults and two children was an inconvenience. After watching other people, who came in after us, be seated, our group was seated in the corner of the restaurant near the exit. We were given two menus and water, then left to review the menu for more than 10 minutes. During the wait, we watched the staff take orders of all the other customers before a server came to take our order. We then learned the menu we saw online was actually a menu from their sister-restaurant. We were told this restaurant does not have happy hour pricing nor do they have any non-seafood options. As a result, we went to a restaurant across the street and had a wonderful meal and drinks to celebrate our daughter's birthday. In summary, this first experience was a negative one. My family was excited to try this new sushi place. However, due to our experience, we will not be coming back, nor will we recommend this place to others. read more

Yay for an actual sushi spot in Monroe, it's been a long time coming! The menu has a lot of options with rolls I have never heard of. The rolls are big and made when you order so you know they are fresh. I ordered a to go order by calling in and got there on time and still had to wait 20 minutes past the time. Ordered takeout using their website (uses Doordash on the back-end so the ordering was familiar and easy to use for me), and we were so impressed! We're happy to have a sushi place in Monroe that's focused on sushi and not doing too many things. While we have been happy with options in town, we are so excited to have new rolls to try and go beyond California-roll-with-a-topping that so many places fall into. This is a legitimate sushi place. We loved everything we ordered: Honolulu, Mad 4 Garlic, Alaska, Inari Roll, Spam Furikake, Kids' California, and the Sushi Lover entree. Our one and only piece of feedback is that not everything on the menu (website or ordering site) has a description/explanation. Food was amazing! We got the miso soup (10/10), kamikaze and white tiger (pictured and also 10/10), and then we got a spicy tuna hand roll as well as one of their baked rolls the lion king roll. Spicy tuna hand roll was probably an 8 (not my favorite but still yummy), and the lion king is another 10! Service was also great they were so very kind and helpful as well as fast and efficient. Ambience was very calm but quaint. Lots of booth seating probably about 10 tables give or take. Overall I loved it, and I would definitely recommend to anyone getting sushi in monroe! VERY SMALL ISSUE: the rolls were quite TALL, super yummy but a little hard to fit in my mouth lol. I managed to eat it still but if it was a little more round rather than tall that would be perfect. The food was a 5/5, it was super fresh and we would definitely re order everything we tried. We had the Takoyaki, 4 Seasons Roll, Lemon Roll, and the I Love Yellowtail Roll. The service was a 4/5 because even though they greeted us and were quick to ask what we wanted, they forgot to bring the tea that we asked for. Luckily we weren't charged for it. The ambience was also a 4/5 because the music was a bit loud. Also, when we asked for one of the deep fried rolls, the waitress said that they don't currently serve that at this location.
