A variety of sushi and sashimi and meh seaweed salad.
Greg A.

Not the best sushi you'll ever eat, but anyone expecting exceptional sushi at an 'all you can eat' establishment needs to reassess. The bottom line is that Shine has a good variety of passable sushi at a reasonable price. My party agreed the salmon was generally meh and we selected the tuna as our favorite. We only tried a few non-sushi/sashimi items but found them to be fairly underwhelming, presumably frozen offerings.

Sushi is super fresh. So was the seaweed salad. Staff is friendly and helpful. Decor was pretty. I liked all of the decorative fish lighting fixtures hanging from the ceiling. The takeout meal that I bought wasn't cheap. It was about $20. My advice: Dine at the restaurant and order the all you can eat. It'll be more satisfying for both your stomach and your wallet. I was just looking for a light takeout lunch. I'm not complaining. I got exactly what I was looking for.

Who doesn't love all you can eat sushi, hibachi, appetizers? You mark off on the menu what you want with a marker, they bring it to you, you eat it, mark off some more, they bring it to you, you eat it, etc. I'm so full right now! This is a brand new place and it's big with lots of choices! One price for all you can eat! The sushi was delicious. We shared everything. We got a sweet potato roll, avocado roll, spicy shrimp roll and also calamari, crab Rangoon, shumai, and calamari. So much more I want to try! The service was very fast but we were the only ones there at the time. Super friendly. I hope this place does well because it was great. I was so busy eating I didn't get many pics of the food. This is in the old Panera space. The whole place has been remodeled and it's really nice.

I was craving some sushi, and stumbled across this gem. All the sushi was fresh, and the shumai, dumplings, and tempura was amazing!!! What I enjoyed in particular was the seared tuna in ponzu sauce. I could've ate 10 plates of those. I got there at 11:30am right when they opened so everything was fresh and ready to go. Lunch is a great price at $17.99. I'm definitely coming back with my family because we all love sushi.

I took mom here for a nice Mother's Day lunch after a day out at the Tulip Festival in Albany. We…read moretried to keep it light because we were planning on a big dinner with the family later that evening. We originally planned on eating at Sushi Shine but that was a bit of a disaster, so mom recommended Sawa instead, she had been to Sawa before and really liked it, so off we went. The interior of this restaurant and dining area is much more elegant when compared to Sushi Shine. Everything was clean and just had more class overall. Service was very efficient, we were seated promptly and our server, Vinnie, brought us water and fresh tea. We ordered a bowl of Miso Soup ($3.50), Seaweed Salad ($7.75), a Shrimp Tempura Roll ($11.00), and a Godzilla Roll ($16.00). Our soup and seaweed salad were out first (about 5-minutes) and our rolls followed about 10-minutes later. All of the food tasted fresh and had great flavor. I really liked the Godzilla Roll and probably could have eaten two orders if they weren't $16 each; you do get a really nice roll for the money. At the end of our meal, our server brought over a hand-made crochet carnation which was beautiful and unexpected. This was a lovely treat for my mom on Mother's Day and we really appreciate the surprise. If you're visiting in the area, I highly recommend checking out Sawa Sushi, they got a great thing going in Glenmont, and I can't wait to come back next time I'm in the area.

We then shared a regular roll of yellowfin and the Rock n Roll and Tiger Roll. Everything was delicious, tasted fresh and presented beautifully. The inside of the restaurant was clean, beautiful decor and a nice bar area. The staff were all friendly and collaborating to take care of everyone. It was moderately busy for a Monday night which we love to see as a lot of places take Monday off and it's hard to find a good spot open.

It's was quite slow, staff promptly greeted us, and we were able to secure a hibachi table and chef right away. Our hibachi chef was friendly and talented, but we couldn't understand anything he was saying because he had a mask on; hopefully he was well, or being cautious? Our server wasn't much for conversation, she was slow to refill drinks, and we had a mistake with our meal, that seemed like it would have been too much trouble to wave her down and have them fix. Four of us had Hibachi and Nancy ordered two sushi rolls. One of her rolls was a spicy tuna ($7.50) and the other was supposed to be a tempura fried shrimp roll instead of bringing out the tempura roll they brought her a California roll ($6.50). Not the end of the world but something to note. Both rolls were good but I would probably go with an upgraded roll (Chef Special) if I were to return. For some reason I always get The short end of the stick when I eat at a hibachi restaurant. Its like they always give me a ton of rice and give a 1/3 of my meat to everyone else. Same thing happened here. I ordered the steak and shrimp ($28.95) and my buddy next to me got a ton of shrimp and his kids got most of the steak. I think next time I do this I'm going to tell them to cook mine separately in butter so this can't happen again, so annoying. The hibach was good and our experience was overall good. I would come back again but I think I'll come with a better game plan if ordering hibachi.

The facilities are so picturesque and insta worthy! Super cool boat and bar and pond with a waterfall! We will absolutely be back again!!!

I'm glad I did because this place turned out to be a hidden gem. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere that's clean, cozy, and perfect for either a casual lunch or dinner with friends. The service was friendly, and the sake was the perfect complement to the meal. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai and a Cucumber Roll, while my friend chose the General Tso's Chicken. If I'm being completely honest, my friend's dish stole the show. The chicken was perfectly crispy, coated in a flavorful sauce with just the right balance of sweet and savory, and paired wonderfully with the rice and broccoli. My Vegetable Pad Thai was fresh and satisfying, but I would have loved just a little more sauce to really bring all the flavors together. The Cucumber Roll was light, refreshing, and a nice contrast to the richer entrées. Overall, this was a great dining experience. Between the inviting atmosphere, flavorful food, and relaxing vibe, Tomo Asian Bistro is definitely worth checking out if you're in the Slingerlands area. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu.

No liquor license, so no sake, but lots and lots of bubble-tea. And almost no interaction with sushi chef (and no seating at sushi bar) - all orders are placed and paid for on one of two digital podiums. Oh, yeah. You are probably going to want to rub your waribashi together to break off any splinters or sharp edges. Not the best quality. Unfortunately, the food itself is also unremarkable. The sushi rice was very lightly seasoned. The nori wrap was so tiny on the nigiri tamago and unagi, there is no possibility that it could hold each piece together. Maybe the owner only allows the chef to use 1 sheet of nori each day. The ikura on the gunkenmaki didn't have that little "pop" when you bite on one, confirming the freshness. And the barely spicy salmon maki was partially minced salmon, with a bit too much non-salmon filler. I'm sure the college kids love this place. 2023 05 31. S14.

I usually like getting a "Salmon Lovers" from the place in Stuyvesant (Mr Fuji sushi) or Asian Tea House in Rensselaer. Pretty much every time I have ordered now from Oishi I'm extremely pleased with the salmon and have even tried a few more menu items. My husband loves the fried coconut shrimp on their app menu. The shrimp tempura roll is a bit overwhelming but also good. The salmon/avocado roll is also great.

The food was great, service was awesome, and overall the meal was affordable for everything we ate. We've tried a lot of sushi restaurants in the area but this is by far one of the best.
