The food and ambiance of the restaurant was amazing, the food was absolutely delicious with the most amazing flavors we had the filet and crispy tuna rice, both did not disappoint. Rather than the food being disappointing it came from our server Jessie, as many theory "teens don't tip" my friend and i who have both worked in food service for 2+ years know how to leave a tip, but that is something i refuse to do when we are fully dismissed by our server, not that she was rude but we never saw her. After asking for a minute to read over the menu we were left for 20 minutes. Not once were we checked up on while eating our food and were left with our dirty dishes forever while everyone else got theirs cleaned. When we asked for a split check she seemed to have an issue and told us that would definitely take her a minute to do... a split check for two people??? our split checks came about another 15 minutes later. but what goes around comes around there fore i did still leave her with a good tip. read more

Having only been to Roxy's for martinis, I was looking forward to trying a very good steakhouse on par with Western Village or the now-defunct Harrah's steakhouse, and I was not disappointed. Roxy's offered unobtrusive yet friendly and helpful service, and the wine selections were expansive but not overwhelming. As has been said by other reviewers, the bacon bread is--I mean, come on, how could it not be?--really tasty, since it isn't oversalted or relying only on the bacon to trick your tastebuds into thinking it's a good piece of bread. The French bread that comes with it is also a quality bread, and big points here for softened, not melted and not frozen, butter. I had the filet mignon with asparagus on the side, and my steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare, and the cut of meat is quality, making it clear that someone is vetting those cuts back in the kitchen. For dessert, I had sorbet, which is something I rarely like, but the frozen treat industry and its creators got the hint that many of us hated sorbet back in the early aughts, when it was all high sugar and syrupy and made you sad for your lactose-intolerant self when you had to eat it alongside your friends downing ice cream. I don't know who made the banana one I had, but it had a creamy mouthfeel that didn't make me want to cry and look longingly at the creme brulee next to me. The service continued to be wonderful throughout, with warm cloths and no one giving us the stink eye when it was obvious the staff was wrapping up for the night. We dined here this past Friday night, the 24th, Black Friday. Good dinner! Food was well executed. We love their bread service. The house-made bacon cheddar loaf is delicious! We started with the crab cake, very tasty with plenty of crab. For entrees, I went with the filet Mignon with Bearnaise sauce and a loaded baked potato. The filet was perfectly grilled to a medium rare and the sauce was spot on! My wife loved the Miso salmon. For dessert, we finished with the chocolate peppermint souffle. Since Harrah's Steakhouse closed down, the hubby and I have been searching for the next best steakhouse. Well, we've found it after three different attempts. Roxy's at the El Dorado is everything. The food, the drinks, the vibes......it's our new go to steakhouse. And I'll be honest with you, for all that we ordered (dozen oysters with caviar, soup, salad, three steaks, four sides, four cocktails, corked a bottle of wine, two desserts and coffee came out to about $125 per person after tip and tax. On top of that, they have THE BEST complimentary bread. Ask for a second helping and they will be more than happy to assist. Michael was our server, and he was super patient as we are newbies and had to scope the menu to its entirety. He was friendly and very attentive, despite a sold-out night for the super bowl weekend. Cocktails were tasty (place is known for their 100+ variety of martinis) and the food was really good; quality and taste was up to par with Harrah's. I am a Reno native and years back in my early 20's way before Yelp, I had gone on a date here and remember it feeling fancy. 20ish years later I end up here for a date/bday dinner and it still felt that way. A nice place to go on a fancy date. The ambiance is ok, it's hard because the casino thing isn't really my forte, but you end up getting pretty good food in them. The service was nice, the waiters were prompt and professional. Drinks were unique and well crafted, pre dinner bread and butter had variety, the food was served hot with excellent presentation, decent portion sizes, perfectly cooked and flavored vegetables and delicious main course. I had the scallops which had superb flavor and texture. The sauce was the kind you find more bread for to dip in it because it was so good. Roxy Review My wife and I have been coming to Roxy for 3 years now and this is hands down our favorite place in town. This is one of the last old fashioned steakhouses here in Reno. The staff are wonderful people who make you feel like family. The hostess Monica is amazing, very sweet and welcoming, making sure we are seated asap. Our favorite server and dear friend Albert always knows how to make us laugh and has an infectious smile. Jeff the manager is so kind and always coming by to make sure we are taken care of. We decided to have our wedding reception here and the staff worked with us from beginning to end, making sure every detail was perfect. We even had a custom printed banquet menu with our names on it. From the time we arrived with our wedding party, we were well taken care of by Albert who took our guests to our private dining room which was beautiful and gave the group a run down on the evenings events. We got to have our first dance at the bar area and the piano player was amazing! The food itself was amazing, we had a 3 course meal with your choice of the filet, chicken or salmon. We had no complaints from any of our guests, everything came out quickly and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend the filet, cooked perfectly with a side of asparagus and mashed potatoes. The complimentary bread was so warm and fresh that the butter would melt on top. As my entree, I got the Maine lobster roll. It was good but honestly not the best. And for the price, I was expecting something more. For dessert, I had the creme brûlée. It was delicious. Roxy is definitely a place to indulge yourself. When I found out they were part of Reno Food Week and I was participating , I knew this was my first outing! So I made reservations for my first staycation night. This was definitely worth the wait! Everything was wonderful! The atmosphere , the staff, and the food! The whole experience was exquisite! I ordered from the Reno Food Week menu. The salad was just right! The filet mignon was superb! My business partner ordered the prime rib and was very satisfied. We had different desserts and both were great! He had the cheesecake and it was the best he ever had. The cocktail and wine list is very extensive offering a wide variety of options. I opted for the winter margarita and got a smoky old fashioned which was a really cool experience! My girlfriend opted for the wine flight which she really enjoyed! I chose for my meal the pork chop with poached pear and chestnut puree (ahhhmazing) and she got the miso glazed salmon. The bill came out to around $290 with the tip included. It was our first time at Roxy's. We reserved a table for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was elegant and dim. There was also an upstairs area to dance & sing. Our host & server were very friendly and both greeted us. The serve was very attentive, patient and informative. We ordered a few appetizers to start our night. Escargot: Was buttery, tasted great & fresh. French onion soup: very cheesy, hot and great flavor. Lobster Bisque: Creamy, flavorful and sweet. Caesar and garden salads: also tasted fresh and delicious. For our entrees we ordered all of our meats medium rare. Unfortunately, only one of the four plates was medium rare. Ribeye with potatoes: seasoned well but was very rare. Scallops: tasted buttery & tender. Overall great flavor. Prime rib entrees: were over cooked and we did not like the mushrooms over the prime rib. Filet Mignon: Cooked medium rare and was tender. We did notify the server about our meals being over cooked. The manager came over to our table, apologized and comped us 3 of the 4 meat entrees. He showed great customer service and was very friendly. We did not expect to get our meals comped and very much appreciated that they took care of our table. Desserts we had the following: Birthday Sundae Opera cake Chocolate Hazelnut Soufflé Pińa Colada Soufflé The chocolate hazelnut soufflé was the best dessert of the night! Please note if you want the Soufflés- You do have to make sure to order it a little early as it can take up to 15-20 mins before arriving at your table. Get a reservation, as the restaurant was completely full on a Saturday night We started with a smoked old fashion cocktail made tableside. $45 It was delicious and very well made. New York steak: cooked more rare than medium rare, but very tasty. 6.5 on a scale from 1-10. The creamed spinach was not as good or flavorful as others I had in the past. (Ruth's Chris and my local sports bar make it better imo) The crispy fried string potatoes were seriously addictive! So delish! Pork chop: fantastic! Cooked perfectly, tender, delicious. Lamb chops: definitely needed something to help the flavor, acid or mint sauce. Too bland with the lentils and potatoes alone. Chocolate soufflé: these were good, but not as good as we've had at other places. The texture was different. The flavor was more rich than I would like, but that's a personal taste. Mr B would prefer the souffle without the hazelnut topping. Service was excellent. Oh, and the bread was terrific too. Would definitely come back for a nice dinner again. I remember coming to Roxy's back in college for their piano bar and martinis, happily listening to many great stories I'd heard from folks and their travels. Roxy's is a bit nostalgic for me in that regard. Surprisingly, I'd never been to dinner here and so on a whim, decided to finally try it.
