The restaurant is clean and fairly priced. Parking can be a lil tricky since it's mostly paid parking around the area, so just be mindful of the signs. We do like to order some fresh though. Would recommend the aburi salmons (regular, spicy and cheese). My favorite is the spicy. It's usually pretty crowded. It's in a great location by the theater and other eats. The service can sometimes be a little lacking as we didn't see our server to take our drink order until about 15 minutes in and he only checked on us one more time. You're mostly self sufficient here though. All the rest are good and would recommend just getting whatever looks good to you!

My girlfriend and I visited Tsubame Rotating Sushi mainly because we loved the idea of a conveyor…read morebelt sushi restaurant. The concept is genuinely fun, and it's probably the biggest reason to visit. Every plate costs the same ($3.59), making it easy to try a variety of items without worrying about different prices. The restaurant is clean, the seating is comfortable, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the experience. We tried most of the sushi rolls that came by, and the biggest issue was the rice. Since sushi is my favorite food, I pay close attention to the quality of the rice, and this was by far the weakest part of the meal. It was overly soft, sticky, and overcooked, giving many of the rolls an unpleasant texture. The fish itself tasted fresh, which I appreciated, but the rice overpowered the entire experience. We also ordered the takoyaki, and it was disappointing. The outside was thick, while the inside felt undercooked and almost mushy. The amount of octopus was reasonable, but the texture kept us from enjoying it. For dessert, we tried the Nutella fried takoyaki. The ice cream and whipped cream were perfectly fine, but the fried dough itself was thick and dry inside. It wasn't a bad dessert, but it wasn't memorable either. Overall, I think Tsubame is worth visiting once for the experience. Watching the sushi rotate around the restaurant is fun, especially if you've never been to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant before. However, if you're looking for outstanding sushi, there are much better options in Utah. The concept is excellent, the service is good, and the fish seemed fresh, but the quality of the rice and some of the hot dishes kept us from wanting to come back. If you're going for the experience, you'll probably have a good time. If you're going primarily for great sushi, you may leave disappointed.

A Sushi Spot That Earns Regular Status Tsunami Traverse…read moreMountain checks all the boxes. Great ambience, friendly staff, a menu broad enough to satisfy any mood, and food that delivers on what it promises. This one has earned a regular spot in my rotation. If you arrive before 3:00 pm, do yourself a favor and order from the combo lunch menu. For a good price, you get miso soup, white rice, pork gyoza, and tempura vegetables, and then choose two items from a list that includes chicken, rolls, and sashimi. The gyoza and tempura alone are worth calling out, both done well. I went with the spicy tuna roll and steak teriyaki and did not regret either choice. Now for the rolls. The Tsunami Roll is the signature and it earns that title, order it without hesitation. The Spicy Masa and Fire Breathing Dragon round out my personal top three and I have yet to be disappointed by any of them. The two areas where they could level up: the wait for food is longer than the lunch setting calls for, so come with patience and plan accordingly. And for a restaurant with rolls this photogenic, a printed menu with photos would go a long way.

Why 3 stars? Because I hate to say it, but it was all just okay…read more --- --- --- I went to Utah to visit my childhood best friend. We still have plenty in common, but one big difference between us is that I eventually became someone who loves trying new restaurants and new cuisine as often as possible, while he mostly sticks to the 5-6 things he loves and doesn't stray from that. But when we were talking about his favorite restaurants, Kobe was #1 on his list. Sure, it didn't have a crazy high Yelp rating, but my favorite restaurant in Tampa had a similar rating, so I was plenty open minded. Off we went! First up was the salad: I'd give it a solid 4.5-stars. I liked the crunchy stuff on top. Good start! Soup: 3-stars. This didn't do much for me. But hey, I'm not really a soup guy. Fried Rice: my friend talks up how amazing the fried rice here, but I'm thinking that most fried rice is about the same. I take a couple of bites, and I'm not sure how to describe it, but something was just a tick off about it. Not that it was bad, but I thought it was just okay. 3.5-stars in general, but downgrading it to 3 because fried rice from a hibachi place is usually such an easy win. Scallops: My absolute favorite thing at hibachi places are the scallops. They are always awesome. This time? Argh - they were alright. Now I'm getting sad. Same thing: 3.5-stars, but down to 3 because I have never had scallops from a hibachi grill that weren't 5-stars until this visit. Filet: 5-stars for the tenderness, 3-stars for the flavor. It was really lacking salt. But I'd forgotten about the dipping sauce! That will surely make it better, right? Sadness. The dipping sauce was to subtle that it didn't really make any difference. Another 3.5-stars graded to 3 on a curve. This also ended up being the most expensive meal during my stay in Utah. And when I compare it to my trip to Benihana a few months earlier, it was clearly a step below that in just about every way, and I gave Benihana 4-stars. The worst part of the experience was the pressure of my friend grilling me about what I thought the whole time. I'm an honest person, but they were staring through my soul. I ultimately said I'd rate it 4-stars, but as I was writing this review, I just couldn't do it. If I lived in the area, I would view this as a place that I wouldn't really ever need to go back to. And if that's the case, how can I give it 4-stars? If you ever read this review, I'm sorry broski. I still love you. Maybe you can come to Houston and write a 3-star review of my favorite place and we'll call it even?

They had us in one of their private rooms which was really nice for our family. It was helpful to not feel too stressed out if our kids were bothering anyone else, and we could relax and enjoy our food a little more. The service was fantastic. We got our drinks quickly and they gave us great recommendations of what rolls to order. We ended up getting three rolls, a bento box, and two orders of yakisoba noodles for the little ones. The kids noodles came after our food which was a little hard for them (they have zero patience) but the amount of food we ordered was enough to share with them before they got their order. The portions were massive. We absolutely loved our sushi rolls. My husband and I talked about the cosmopolitan roll being one of the best rolls we have had! Everything was fresh and had incredible flavor. The yakisoba was also delicious. They came with a lot more noodles than I was expecting! Each bowl could definitely feed two people.
