I have never in my life received more poor service than this restaurant. I hate leaving bad reviews especially when restaurants have been suffering throughout the pandemic. We arrived at 5:00PM and it was relatively slow. It still took our waiter about 25 minutes to take our order, nonetheless we were very understanding and patient as we could tell they were understaffed. We finally got our apps about 45-50 minutes in. At this point another table who had been there almost the same amount of time as us had gotten up and walked out of the restaurant. We awkwardly started eating our food when another table began to argue with the waiter. I didn't over hear what the conversation was about but they too, walked out. By now there were more people arriving, and I was worried how it was going to impact the slow service we were already receiving. We had to ask for water and napkins. Whoever is in charge of cooking the food is the only savior here. The food was delicious, I had no complaints on the quality of food. We ordered chicken tonkatsu which wasn't brought out until the check was brought out. I told the waiter "I'm sorry but can we please have the check, we've been here almost two hours" he responded by showing me his iPad to show me my table time was at an hour and fifteen minutes, (not counting the 25 it took him to approach our table) he said the "whole experience is 2 hours" but the menu clearly states the max table time is 2 hours so that's incorrect. At this point I was pissed and asked for the check, he said it'd be extra for what we didn't eat. I said I didn't care and waited again. The table next to us asked for their check and told the waiter how bad the service was. He again, offered no apology or explanation. The table next to us looked over to us and apologized and walked out. We walked up to the front to pay the bill to not have to wait for the waiter again, we asked to pay with Apple Pay which the sticker on the counter clearly stated the restaurant accepted. The waiter said no we don't accept that, I pointed to the sign and said "it says you do right here" he just said no. We gave them our card and walked out. It's not just the long wait it's the service that will make me never return, it's the "I don't care" attitude that the waiter had. There was no remorse. NEVER AGAIN read more

Sushi payce is arguably the worst service I ever had. The owner is incredibly rude and super cheap. You can tell by the fake flowers and horrible attitude the servers have. The owner immediately told us right when we sat down, "no offense but everyone tips 15%". I was flabbergasted at the attitude we were immediately greeted with. Each one of the servers treated the guests as a burden. I continued to time the amount of time taken to only get the edamame, and it took 40 minutes. The food was ok, it was either A) soaked in sauce or B) mediocre. The sauces also took forever to be given to us. Let all of the reviews before me speak for themselves. Take this as a warning. If you want to be treated like a zoo animal, go ahead and eat here. The treatment you get from Mcdoanlds drive through workers is better than any worker at sushi payce. I am very sad that I wasted $40 on this garbage. The first time I ate here, the food was not bad. This was the first week they were open. Now, I am treated with so much disrespect and the food went very downhill. There is a reason this place has 2 stars. YIKES!!!!! To top off my already horrible experience. Due to the horrible service and headache of an atmosphere with tacky loud music blasting, my friend and I decided not to tip. The owner then went on to call my friend cheap, and throw his credit card in his face. What does this say about the person who runs this restaurant?!? Sushi taku has crap in their shrimp and I rather eat there any day than ever come back to this hell hole of a sushi place. Keep watch for all of the fake reviews!! I rather throw $40 into the sewer than have it end up in this horrible persons pocket. He continued on to comment on my friends Yelp review. Coming up with lies to make himself seem not as cruel as he is in actuality. You can read his response for yourself, as he said my friend signed his name as "Ching Chong" and that he tipped 5 cents. In the photo attached you can see his signature used, which resembles absolutely nothing of the sorts. Thank goodness I took a picture, as I knew he would say something like this! read more

I'm an avid sushi eater and was initially excited to try this restaurant. I always give leeway to new places as they train staff and hit their groove, but I was sooo disappointed in the service, quality, and overall experience. I sometimes spend +$100 on sushi at higher end places, the normal $30 for AYCE, and even $5 grocery store rolls. I understand the quality of what you should get at AYCE - and it's pretty low. With that in mind, you're better off going to Sushi Para, Sushi Taku, Koi Sushi, and Diva Thai Sushi. They are much quicker, and give you flexibility in ordering. - Someone who has dined at Chicago AYCE places 20+ times in the past 5 years Pros: - They had a bit of variety for the appetizers and items on the menu that you don't see at other AYCE places. One was a spam musubi. - The inside was designed nicely to look more upscale. The front dining room was also nice and bright. Cons: - Long wait times. It's difficult to flag people down and they rarely check in on you. - Staff didn't know their own menu. This is where it's useful to have paper menus like other places where it's clear what you're ordering. - Service was sub par. Had to wait 15 minutes to flag someone for wasabi and ginger. When it arrived it was TINY. Maybe 7 pieces of ginger for a table of 3. - Ordering from a tablet via server was difficult and annoying because some of their item menus wasn't on the tablet. Perhaps it was difference in lunch and dinner options? If so, they should update their digital menu. - Some items ordered never arrived to our table. - The soda is by the can. Other AYCE competitors have unlimited fountain drinks. - Bathroom was dirty and smelt. I would try again after they've been in business for a few months. However, even then, my expectations are low from my first visit. I do hope they improve though cause I love my variety in AYCE sushi places. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! The current rating on this place says it all. Tactics are set up at every corner so you don't get your money's worth - maximum of 5 items per order, no sashimi without a roll order, and EXTREMELY slow service. It took them 20+ minutes to bring out an order of edamame and gyoza- I don't think I need to say more. The decor is a spit in the face to the "premium" feel advertised, the cheap, tacky flowers and heart shaped balloons bought from the valentine's day discount rack cover up the natural beauty of the building. The service tops it all off - hectic, hesitant staff who often bring out the wrong order or forget to bring it at all and take no time to connect with their diners. Before we had even ate, the restaurant owner came up to my party and commented "not to be offensive, but everyone who eats here tips at least 15%." After we had our appetites ruined by the staff, ambience, and the extremely disrespectful comment, I decided not to tip, which led me to later be called a "cheapskate" by the owner and him throwing my credit card back at me. There is a reason this place is multiple stars below the other AYCE places in the city...trust the reviews In response to the owners snarky and rude response to my review: The last time I visited, my total came out to 40.73 (photo attached), which is a $4-5 tip for very poor and slow service. I came back in hopes that the service would improve, but I was throughly disappointed. As for the signature, my signature is a capital D with scribbles after it- there is nothing that could've remotely resembled 2 words - especially ones making out an offensive name. STAY AWAY! The owners responses here mirror his attitude in real life. read more

When I stepped inside Sushi Payce, I was immediately impressed with the decor; it was incredibly modern, almost cozy. The restaurant had a station of cover songs playing, which surprisingly made my experience even better here! Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the all-you-can-eat sushi. There is a vast selection of sushi rolls, nigiri, and appetizers. Each plate of sushi looked great, although the presentation was a little lackluster. However, it was not sloppy and you can't be too upset when the restaurant is putting out all you can eat food! When it came to the taste, Sushi Payce did not disappoint! The sushi rolls were very good. The Salmon Crunch roll was probably my favorite; it's hard to go wrong with a well made salmon roll! The Panther roll had potential, but half of the roll did not have shrimp and was only cream cheese. I think if it were distributed , it would have been much better! The angry dragon was also made well, with probably the best shrimp inside that I've gotten from a sushi restaurant. While the food was delicious, the only downside was the pacing. The service at Sushi Payce was friendly, but there were times when the wait for someone to come by felt a bit long. However, i noticed only a few people handling the entire place, so I can't blame the servers for this. Overall, Sushi Payce is a great place to go for some variety sushi. I feel that the general experience makes it a great spot for a casual dinner with friends or a sushi date night. Despite the slower pacing, the quality of the food and the overall experience make it well worth a visit! read more

If you're in Chicago and craving some delicious sushi, look no further than Sushi Payce on West Fullerton Avenue. Trust me, we had the all-you-can-eat buffet and it was an exceptional deal, especially for dinner. You'll have the chance to sample a little bit of everything on the menu without hurting your wallet. First, let me talk about the atmosphere of the restaurant. The interior is lovely and tastefully decorated, making for a pleasant dining experience. The wait staff was just as impressive, providing excellent service and attending to our needs. Yesterday, we were served by Kenzi and Lee, and let me just say that they are a dynamic duo! They were courteous and attentive, making us feel comfortable and welcome. Now, onto the best part - the food! The sushi arrived very quickly and was just as pictured on the menu. The variety of options is truly impressive, including numerous vegetarian selections. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. If you're unsure what to order, don't hesitate to ask the wait staff for recommendations. They were happy to help us pick out some stand-out dishes. Ultimately, Sushi Payce is a must-visit. Expect fast service, a comfortable ambiance, friendly staff, and delicious sushi. Whether you're a die-hard sushi lover or simply curious to try something new, you won't be disappointed by what this restaurant has to offer. read more

TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!!!! AND SUPER SLOW SERVICE First of all, I would strongly recommend everyone to read the review section on Google and Yelp because they truly reflect the poor business practice. If you are understaffed, please limited your seating and don't just take anyone who walks in through the door - do a reservation only - simply as that. Why be greedy ? and accept everyone and provide a shitty service to us (customers) with your shitty policies and none of your employees follows them correctly and start making stuffs up. The responses from the business owner, Blake, are so unprofessional and rude - not a single drop of empathy shown with a response of "Thank you for your business" They also try to introduce you the "Chef Special" plate which is bunch of crap huge sushi to try to make you full fast. Overall, they do have above average quality sushi, so do many other places with WAYYYYYYYYYYYY BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. Bottom line, if you want to waste half of your day hangry waiting for your food, go ahead - totally not worth it. read more

Went there for a early dinner with 7 friends. I called and made a reservation at 4:30. I got there and the table wasn't ready, but my party was late and they were okay with that. I got seated past 5 and it took about 20min to come and take our order and almost 1 hour for our orders start to come, and just a couple came. We order again and took another life for only 3 orders come. I stayed there for 4 hours and a table across us that was there for lass than one hour was getting all their orders and non stop. Staff is not prepared for the popularity that become in just a few weeks. They look lost and don't know how to answer questions. After 3.5h we were done for the waiting so we asked for the bill and the lady said to give her 10-15 min because they were making ours. 30 min later nothing so we just asked for the bill. Sushi is good for a all you can eat with this price, but they REALLY need to improve the service. We're so frustrated. We were there for 4 hours and I literally ate two rolls and two apps. Not going back so soon! read more

Friends of friends suggested a visit here and it truly was a great experience on many levels. First, the food is nothing but fabulous--beautiful plating, really fresh favors, delicate detailing on sashimi, outstanding. I loved the baked mussels, summer roll and especially the Naruto salmon which reminded me of vibrant semi-sweet summer vibes. Service, obviously it cannot get any better when one of the partners is serving you though I didn't realize this until the food led me to ask more questions. So anyway, if Mr. Blake happens to read this I want you to know just how great you made everything tonight--your hard work will surely come back to reward you! I will assuredly be back to visit again on a Monday---everything was just too pleasant to not return. By the way, the decor inside, well, look at the photos and that's another paragraph to write about :). read more

The place was absolutely amazing! The ambiance & decor were both beautiful. Very "instagrammable" staff and the owner were very hospitable and nice. The food was some of best best sushi I've had in a long time. I've found my new all you can eat sushi spot. Typically you sacrifice quality in exchange for all you can eat, with this place that is NOT the case. You get both delicious sushi and the ability to stuff your face. This is a new business that just opened. Like many parts of America they are short staffed so you'll have to be patient waiting for your food. Come with a party, come with someone you like chatting with because it will take some time until they find staff. It's currently being staffed by the owners and bi's family while they hire. Other than the wait which I'm sure will subside as in 6-12 months it's was a great experience! read more

Came in a late past my reservation time and the owner still seated us! Very grateful. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful time - the food was GREAT and every server was incredibly kind. This place just opened up and so of course the food took some time as they work out any kinks. they were also just posted on a viral tiktok so you can imagine how busy + popular they are right now. Make a reservation by calling before the dinner rush - otherwise you can expect to wait at least an hour. The food is good so this place will stay busy. Wishing them the best & can't wait to come back! read more

This is the most luxurious and unique sushi place I have ever been too! Me and my fiancé have traveled far just to experience their premium sushi and they have not disappointed us! Make sure to reserve a seat! The manager was so kind enough to fit us in without an appointment. It was an experience of a life time. We've been to many sushi places, but this place has out beat them all. We were left speechless. Please come support the restaurant, they have only been open for 3 weeks and this place is really lively! I wish I can give this place more than 5 stars!!!! read more

Although their food was good, the manager was really rude so I won't come back to be treated like that. If you wanna open a restaurant, be ready to accept tons of customers who want to try your food out, don't always make excuses about understaffing. There're other all-you-can-eat restaurants in town and they're also really busy but they don't have the same problem as this place. The manager should adjust his attitude and start learning to not treat his customers like we're his employees. read more

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Sushi Payce! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The elegant decor and relaxed vibe made it perfect for a casual lunch. The sushi itself was outstanding. Every roll was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The service was top-notch, too. Our host, Kenady, was friendly and knowledgeable and made great recommendations without being pushy. Everything came out quickly and with great attention to detail. read more

10/10. The quality of the the sushi is fantastic and they have so many varieties than a bunch of ayce sushi spots. It was my first time there and the owner overheard us talking about how we like our sushi with cilantro and salmon and he brought us a customized nigiri dish with it! So thoughtful. I really do think that some of these reviews were based on maybe weekend dinners and with it being a new place, you gotta give them a break. Can't wait to come back. read more

This place was so delicious, we went for my dads birthday and both my parents weren't that big on sushi and I brought them here. It was definitely worth it and me and my family are definitely going back for my mom's birthday. The service was great the only thing was that we ordered drinks and it took almost until we finished eating for them to bring them out. It was a beautiful restaurant the staff was really nice and moved fast to bring out our food. read more

Probably one of the best all you can eat sushi I've ever had. The staffs are very friendly despite how short staffed they are. Long wait but they worked as fast as they could and the wait was worth it. They have a good size menu, with lots of different options for rolls and nigiri. Perfect pricing for all you can eat. Would definitely recommend trying it out especially if you want to support small businesses. Can't wait to come back again! read more

Went there at 5pm on Friday. Pretty dead - Pro. They seat you at table right on top of other people - Con. There's no menus to look at. You have to on your phone. We ordered some apps & rolls. Rolls were ok, they were stuffed w/ a crab type salad mix, but interesting otherwise. Sashimi was better. Good food & location. Easy parking. Next time I'll make a reservation & ask for a better table. Cute decor & nice space read more

The food was super fresh, tasty, and great quality! The "Premium" in Premium-All-You-Can-Eat is no joke. The whole place was very intimate and romantic, and BYOB! The staff was very nice and accommodating, and Blake was amazing! We waited 45 min for a table on an extremely busy Friday night, but at 8pm with no reservation, what else can you expect? It was well worth the wait. Will 100% be returning. I can't wait! read more
