Salmon Citrus roll and salmon nigiri (we already ate most of it!)
Zander R.

We have been here 3 times since moving to Sebastopol and have loved it every time. Great indoor and outdoor seating with one side you could watch your kid play while you eat! Favorite rolls are the Salmon Citrus and Double Down.

Grilled calamari
Kayla M.

We stopped by for lunch and sat outside- lovely setting and Dog friendly. The food was good, and service friendly. We weren't a fan of the eggplant as it was somewhat salty- however I've not had this dish serve quite like this, so maybe that's just how it is. The chirashi was tasty but the salmon was sliced into bits instead of somewhat uniform pieces, that's also different. We enjoyed the grilled calamari and recommend it if you want vet from deep fried. The roll was also very good, unfortunately... I can't remember which one it was!

Salmon citrus roll (though they were out of salmon so we asked for tuna instead)

Stopped in for a couple of rolls as a late lunch and found them expertly prepared. The textures and flavors were all spot on.

Couldn't finish sushi
Michele B.

Makes me wonder if reviews before are personal friends of owner. Maybe it was the night I went. I seriously couldn't eat the sushi. Fish tasted like it was washed in soap. The soup was tasteless when it is usually hard to mess up miso soup. No atmosphere when I went. With expensive restaurant has coke but not diet coke. Go ahead if you must. Next time will look elsewhere. Such a shame - pricey disappoinyment

Deluxe Chirashi

It does not get any better than this! Super deluxe chirashi bowl...paid extra but worth every penny!

We are local and regulars here. Love all the food! Anytime we have friends visiting, we take them there. Their customer service has been very good this year. The staff are all nice and attentive.

Chefs choice.

My favorite sushi restaurant in Sebastopol. I've lived here for a while now and Koshō is my go-to for take out or dine in. Their Chicken Karage is so amazing, Chilled Spinach is a must try (trust me), and you can't go wrong with their Nigiri, and Rolls. Their team is so friendly, attentive, and if you haven't tried this place yet this is your sign! We usually sit inside for dinner which is cozy and modern, plus, you can watch the sushi bar or we sit outside for lunch on their beautiful patio. You can't go wrong here!

Not sure I'll be back. I feel like this was because my party came an hour before closing but service was so slow, it was like they wanted us to leave instead of serving us. The food itself wasn't anything special, I feel like there are definitely better food options at The Barlow where you can get good service and get your money's worth in terms of food quality and quantity. A pretty nice interior though, clean with nice decor.

Hawaiian poke bowl (to go)
Julia G.

Really enjoyed this Hawaiian poke bowl (to go) from Sushi Koshō! It was really fresh and a huge serving size. The rice was seasoned and it had fresh avocado too. I am pretty picky about poke since I really only like it when I'm in Hawaii but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality here. Would come back!!

Tea included for group of 7

This place is really cute, the staff are very nice and the fish is fresh but that's pretty much the only things good here. I'd give it a solid 2.5 because of the customer service. The miso soup was subpar, the mushrooms were a nice add. The dumplings were just bad, I had to double check the meat was beef because it was medium rare. The dumplings had a poor meat to fat ratio and seemed to have no flavor, despite the oil on top of it. The chicken donburi (which I honestly wasn't expecting to look like it did) had flavor but the chicken was dry, there wasn't enough sauce to compensate for that, and the powder they added on top didn't work; the redeeming feature was the onions on top. My friends got a roll with a panko outside layer, I refused to eat one because it just didn't look appetizing. They said it tasted exactly how it looked and wasn't awful. The nigiri set was disappointing considering the price. Even at the cheapest places I've been to have never given me three of the same fish in a nigiri set. The quality of the fish was fine, nothing terrible or great. If I could go back to yesterday when I was asked if I wanted to get pizza or sushi, I would've said pizza.

Everyone in my group stepped out of their comfort zone with cocktails. The nibbles were also tasty. Some got burgers, others got the rice or fried chicken. I got the cod dish. We love Fern Bar Had a nice time, save for the verbal confrontation by our waitress. I paid for our dinner and left for the bathroom, when the waitress came back to my partner sitting alone and asked her what she did wrong. My partner was uncomfortable and didn't understand, so she asked her to clarify, which the waitress said we didn't tip her enough so she assumes we didn't like her. My partner didn't know what to say, and promptly asked me to leave when I came back. She was so upset about it. Our waitress was fine, but service was terribly slow, and she took forever to ask us for drinks and did not check on us. I didn't even mind honestly. It's not really her fault the back of house was busy. But to confront my partner alone at the table when I went to bathroom? How awful.

You will smell terrible but who cares it tastes amazing! The bread is nice and buttery. A must order! Seared Tomino (4/5) - The eggplant caponata was very good and the pest oil was addicting! I didn't eat the tomino but my friends said it was very good. Minus one star as the garlic bread wasn't very garlicky, and crust was hard and razor sharp. Be careful when biting! Earl Grey Tea (5/5) - They give you a generous amount of tea! I love that it wasn't a tea bag. Overall, lot a fans will be sad to see this place go.

I made a reservation for 6pm on the deck as it had seatbacks and my husband has a bad back and can't sit on a picnic table. It's an elevated section above the beer garden, which that night had a singer with guitar. Service was pleasant though a little slow with drinks but they were pretty busy. We both had margaritas to start, which were $16 plus $3 for call brand so $19 each. Pretty good but not too strong. I then had the Hopmunk hefewisen beer which was only $8, much more reasonable. I had the Biergarten cheeseburger on a pretzel bun, cooked perfectly medium rare. Served with caramelized onions, bacon, smoked Gouda and a beer cheese, it was tasty but pretty messy! Cost was $23 plus I subbed a kale Caesar for $2 which was good but not worth the hype as a little dry. Husband had the grilled mole chicken with mole sauce and Spanish rice for $24. It was a large portion with two pieces of chicken and he enjoyed it. We then saw a show in the stone tavern next to the beer garden. It's an intimate venue with not a bad view in the house. We had seats because my husband is disabled so we're right in the front row. Otherwise it was standing only. Great acoustics and venue. I would go there often if I lived in Sebastopol, as it's right near the Barlow and downtown. Definitely recommend for food, entertainment and atmosphere.

We ordered the burgers, wings, and pickle fries. The burgers were massive, though a little dry even with all the sauces loaded on. The wings, however, were excellent and easily the best thing we ordered. The pickle fries were the miss for me -- house made, which sounded promising, but there was barely any actual pickle inside. I'd skip those next time and just double down on the wings.

I had a glass of Chardonnay, and the wine list is what you would expect from a Sonoma County restaurant. By the bottle or by the glass you are assured of a good selection. Worth noting though: it gets very noisy. The menu offers an interesting mix of Thai and French cuisine - not quite fusion, but rather two distinct menus side by side. Think of it as a safe bet for groups with different cravings. The portions are decent and the prices are in line with typical Bay Area standards - not a bargain, but not outrageous either. Unfortunately, what brought my rating down to three stars was the service. For a relatively simple meal - oysters to start and one entrée each - the pacing was surprisingly slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes for our plates to be cleared, another 10 for the dessert menu, and after an additional 15-minute wait we ended up canceling dessert altogether, as the evening had stretched to two hours and we had a long drive ahead. To be fair, the tables around us seemed to have a smoother experience, so perhaps we caught them on an off night. I'd like to give them another shot, but I'm leaving with mixed feelings that honestly reflect a three-star experience - great bones, but the service needs work.
