2 for ambience: the space is so narrow and claustrophobic. My friend and I were seated at the end of sushi bar and the waiter kept yelling to the sushi chef over my shoulder, repeatedly. 3 for service: they were fairly busy, and we were seated at the bar, but waiter never checked on us. 3 for food: good effort for making vegan sushi rolls. Most were not too creative however, and some involved heavily fried ingredients. I've tried nearly all of the fancier veg rolls (rolls with more than 1 or 2 ingredients inside) and none of them excite me at all. Also ordered the ramen - it was laughable that a veggie ramen entails exact 2 vegetables: bamboo if I recall right, and a TRUCKLOAD of raw onions. They couldn't gather up any other vegetables in this $15 bowl of noodles? I had to take out most of the onions. A real letdown. read more

Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Wanted to like it but I have never been so turned off by food I have received so quickly. Truly felt like my money was wasted read more

The appetizers were the best thing here. The fire mussels and the pork belly buns were good orders. The only problem is that the pork belly bun comes with so little meat... Pork is cheap, give us more! lol Maybe ask for double meat? We also got the salmon dynamite-- I didn't care for that. As for the sushi, we ordered eel, yellow tail, and salmon sashimi, the sashimi platter, the burning love and the volcano rolls... In my opinion, salmon is the only sushi worth ordering... but I always try other ones anyway. As always, sushi is super expensive. I feel like you can get better food, and a lot more for the same price... but overall, if money isn't an issue, this place is good. Staff was super friendly and constantly checking up on us. ***update without providing a new updated review*** -Salmon sashimi was even better during the day. Seemed more fresh and to be larger (on two occasions) -Was also able to try the kimchi ramen, bulgolgi bowl, and the regular ramen. I like the Kimchi ramen more than the regular one because of the spice and sour flavor. Both lacked meat though-- maybe request to get double or triple meat? (not that the ramen meat is that good here... but better than nothing?) The bulgolgi was very well marinated. I can see myself ordering that in the future. read more

On my search for restaurants in Silver Spring, a friend recommended Sushi Jin. I was seated quickly at the Sushi Bar. They seem to do a robust take away business. I enjoyed my Sushi, it was fresh and tasty. However, not the best variety I have seen, but good nonetheless. I will try again soon. read more

Best sushi in Silver Spring, MD! Glad it's nearby and easy to order for dinner. Lasagna rolls are my mother's favorite! I haven't had a roll I don't like and their octopus nigiri is bomb. However, the owner or dude at front (I swear he's the owner) needs to be of example and provide better customer services. He's a bit rude and I'm veryyyyy chill so it definitely can leave a bad taste on anyone "new" customer. Thanks to everyone for making our delicious sushi! read more

Sushi Jin - Inside - Japanese Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

My boyfriend brought me here for my birthday and it was a lovable experience. Immediately when you arrive you're bombarded with their incredibly charming decorations and cutely themed aesthetics. This was a type of restaurant I'd expect to see in New York or LA... but I was in Maryland!? Good job Silver Springs, I'm proud of you. After taking in their charm, I thought to myself, "This place looks so trendy... it must be expensive." I was wrong! Very affordable for super cool specialty sushi. My favorite was of course, The Burning Love, which was sushi shaped into a heart and lit on actual fire in the middle! Another one that I liked was the Shinjuku Murder which was properly named since it had 5 pepper emojis next to it signifying that it's hella spicy. Don't order this if you can't handle spice (I love spice) and the big perk of ordering the Shinjuku was the generous lumps of crab. I felt like they should of charged me extra for all that crab. Burning Love was only $13 and the Shinjuku was only $14. What a deal! In D.C. the dishes that I ordered would definitely be above $15 each so Sushi Jin offers extremely charming dishes at very attractive prices. read more

I eat Sushi Jin fairly frequently, it's a solid sushi spot. I'm a fan of creative rolls and they're always good. The russian roulette roll with the wasabi bullet was fun to share on a date lol. read more

The food was good, not great, and the atmosphere ruined by very loud teeny-pop music that they would not turn down. If you like the food and don't like going deaf, I suggest you order take-out. read more

I'm always on the lookout for good sushi restaurants. Sushi Jin is a great place to go if you're in the Silver Spring area. They have pretty good sushi and the fish is always fresh. Definitely try the rolls from the Jin's Creations list. I had the Memory of a Geisha roll (spicy salmon, avocado, tuna, and cucumber) and J Rainbow roll (California roll topped with fresh fish). Both were very good with generous amount of fish. All of their other rolls seem very tasty too. If I could handle spicy, I'd like to try the Shinjuku Murderer. On their spiciness scale, it's marked with 5 red peppers! Also had the Takoyaki (Fried Octopus Balls), which was very tasty and had big chunks of octopus. Only come here for the sushi. The ramen is not that great here. The Cha Shu Ramen was disappointing. They put too much bamboo shoots in it, which was not mentioned on the menu. It overpowered the taste and smell of the broth. The cha shu (pork) was too thick and tough. It's nothing compared to the ramen at Ren's Ramen or Momofuku Noodle Bar. Skip the ramen here! Also, not worth the $14. It's a small restaurant, but it never seems to be packed. Service is great. The servers are quite, but attentive. read more

Surpisingly satisfying sushi restaurant that feels a bit pan-Asian, but upon diving into the menu, the specials (monthly), the drink menu, and the a la carte 2-sided paper sushi menu, it's undeniably a sushi-first restaurant that provides options to mix it up and compliment your sushi. As you peruse the options, know that your meal will be fresh as can be in downtown Silver Spring. The tables are generally full with a wait time on weekend evenings because the food is simply delicious. Look around and notice the sushi at everyone's table- you will probably want what they're having in addition to what you already ordered! First and foremost after the salivation factor, you must know that the staff here is so friendly and knowledgeable. Despite the small space, they are efficient and unflappable. Love them. After that, check out that a la carte menu. Oh wow! This is just about the veg options and wow, are there a lot of veg options! I cannot believe how many choices there are. What's amazing is the unique and exciting selection much more creative than the normal avocado, cucumber and pickled veggie single selections. There are also asparagus and shiitake choices, and most importantly a bunch that blend them together. Anything with sprouts makes me happy. The Mint Japan has mango- nice sweet but not overpowering touch. Also in the April with some mango and some sprouts! The presentation is lovely- they take time to make the veg sushi look pretty, too. Tempura inside some too, like Sweet Potato business and Fried Avocado. Great choices- am so happy here! Then there are of course other dishes like appetizers and small dishes, including edamame (yawn), spinach salad with a light citrus dressing, seaweed salad with some lovely garnishes for extra flavor and crunch, steamed broccoli, bean sprout salad, mashed pumpkin salad, cucumber salad and tofu salad, to name a few. It's impressive! Feel like something warmer, opt for the stone bowl with mushrooms and veggies- tasty. This place has something for everyone. Very happy place for a traditional style Japanese sushi restaurant with modern twists on sushi. Go back once a month to see some specials! read more

My family loves this place and has been going here to eat Sushi for several years. Some of their non sushi dishes, Udon broth and seaweed salad are a bit too salty for me but good otherwise. My son's girlfriend who lived in Japan says this place makes sushi just as good as they do in Japan! If you like sushi this is a great place to go! read more

We ordered Sushi Jin via Uber eats last night. We used to eat here regularly until we found a more local spot a couple of years ago. The street parking situation can be rough on a weekend, but there is a garage across the street. The food quality was historically very good and I'm happy to report is still great! We started with shrimp shumai which are heartier than most shumais, flavorful and served with a sweet slightly thick soy sauce. We also had the seaweed salad which is not completely traditional, but traditional seaweed salad mixed in with carrots and cabbage and a light seaweed salad dressing. Rolls - salmon 2028, spicy moon, scallop roll, and spicy mussel. Favorites: Spicy moon - huge pieces full of salmon and tuna with a delicious spicy sauce and the scallop roll - scallop, avocado and cucumber - simple but so flavorful. Salmon 2028 - good flavors especially the cilantro pesto sauce but the char on top from being torched is a little overpowering. Spicy mussel roll also good - served with whole mussels on top of the roll with spicy sauce. I am glad to see Sushi Jin is still there, and the quality of the food has not changed! read more

This is the best sushi spot in downtown silver spring. The decor is warm and inviting, and the staff is prompt and friendly. I always order a side of Salmon Toro with whatever I order because it is always fresh and buttery. Their house special rolls are tasty and creative. Also, I've had their udon a few times and have never been disappointed although expect a huge portion. The only downside is that it is not great for groups of 4 or more. They have one table that can accommodate I think 6-8 people but it's mostly bar seating or booths. read more

Really top notch sushi. I've been coming here for years. Basic rolls tell the bigger story, and their Salmon and Tuna are always on point. They also have a very delicious bento box (maybe call ahead, it takes awhile to prepare), both veggie and and fish/chicken. (Fish only available during day service, veggie available both day and night) Get the Panko fried tofu appetizer, it never disappoints (it does have a spicy mayo, i don't recommend ordering it through an app, it becomes soggy) Bulgogi has a lot going on in terms of flavor, I recommend! Stone bowl is hit or miss, sometimes it's very greasy. Maybe you can ask them to use less oil. I'm not a Ramen person (I think if it was cooler in the restaurant , I might try it) , but my companion always has the chicken Ramen and really enjoys it. Only issue, sometimes it really gets crowded/ hot inside as it's a pretty small restaurant/space. The booths are very cozy, not good for "bigger" people. TLDR; if you like Sushi/lots of sushi options, Vegetarian options and you enjoy receiving great food each time, consistency is key here. This is the place to go. read more

Visited w some friends and had a nice evening. Small cozy restaurant in the heart of busy downtown Silver Spring. Sushi was very good and the star of the meal. The other food was okay. The chicken yakitori was fried which was different and caught me off guard. The bathrooms need some work and they had personal belongings of the employees which was weird. The servers were good and very attentive. 3.5 read more

Sushi Jin is a great sushi place in downtown Silver Spring! All of their rolls are super unique and seem to make delicious combinations. I came here with my fiance one Saturday afternoon and were quickly seated. We split three rolls between us: the shinjuku murderer, shrimp tempura, and the scallop dynamite. Only get the shinjuku murderer if you can really handle spice. I took a small bite of this one after my fiance dared me and I immediately regretted it. The other rolls were great though! Overall, I loved my lunch at Sushi Jin. Our food came fast and the food itself tasted amazing. I'll need to come back again to try more rolls, but I'm pretty confident that I'll be happy with the food. Only complaint is that parking is hard to find but there are a few garages nearby. read more

Great, cozy place for sushi! My friend and I shared the tofu tempura to start, which was crispy and delicious! I then ordered the sushi b combination. The sushi was fresh and tasty but I didn't love one of the nigiri that had a sweet mango sauce on top. The staff erred on the side of being overly attentive, which was not desired. I always walked by this place and wondered if it was good because the line was always so long. Now I know why the lines were always so long. This place is amazing. The food was so delicious and the service was great. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday night past 7 and we waited about 10 minutes for a seat at the bar. It was not too bad considering how crowded the place was. We ordered three rolls and a ramen. My favorite roll was the burning love. YOU MUST GET THIS ONE! It is so cute. It comes out in a shape of a heart and then the rolls are on fire in the middle of the heart. I thought it was so cute. Not the mention, it was very tasty. All the rolls were flavorful. We got the spicy ramen. It was so flavorful and the soup was delicious. It was filled with toppings like bamboo shoots, eggs, onions, and a melt-in-your-mouth pork belly. I am so happy I discovered this place. It will be my new go-to sushi place around my house! read more

Love this place. The staff is excellent, the food is high quality and it's vegan-friendly!

YUMMM! I went to Sushi Jin for lunch and had a vegetarian bento box. It was delicious! It comes with miso soup, dumplings, salad, edamame, sushi rolls, and mashed pumpkin. It is pricey at $13, but I got two meals out of all the food. My favorite part of the bento box was definitely the pumpkin, and the sushi was probably my least favorite (although I still ate it, duh). My coworker ordered the salmon bento box and said the salmon was dry, and that he should have done the vegetarian. Just an FYI. :) Sushi Jin also has a couple of ramen and udon noodle soup options. The table next to us got them and they looked really good. The soup is next on my list of things to try. The service was a bit slow during lunch time (took about 1.5 hours), so schedule accordingly. read more

Food: we ordered the Titanic sushi boat which came with 56 pieces in total. Most of the fish was fresh. But wish the chef chose better sushi rolls - one was fried with canned tuna(?) which was just ok. Some rolls were just avocado rolls which seemed like the $70 was not worth it. Presentation is 5/5 though. Service: Waiters are very quick and to the point - no beating the bush. Friday night was packed and seems like they want to get as many customers in as possible. Atmosphere: very tight/narrow restaurant. Luckily, we were seated towards the back in a booth. Next time we'll try some of the special rolls as they look more promising. read more

Sushi Jin - Kimchi pork ramen - Japanese Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

First time here and went with my boyfriend. We wanted to try different dishes. We got spicy Jin ramen with chicken, bulgogi don, scallops sushi, and burning love. Starting with the ramen. It is so so gingery. I don't remember reading about ginger in description but it is very very apparent taste. Over powering and also come with tons of white onion. I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. If they tone down the ginger a bit, it would have been a great ramen for me. I wouldn't get this again if I come back. Bulgogi don doesn't come with egg. It will be $2 extra to put egg so we didn't. I don't have too much experience with donburi but they usually come with egg for me. When the dish came, it was just bulgogi on rice for me. Nothing amazing and out of ordinary. Just another okay dish. Burning love has fire ignited inside the heart shape sushi. There were salt for the fire so some of the rolls near it were so salty. The scallops roll was decent as well. Both rolls were pretty good but again nothing out of the ordinary. Service was at sub par. On that day, their ac wasn't working and fans they had around the store was not able to keep us nice and cool. We don't even have a fan near us. Overall, this place didn't impress me much. read more

Sushi is decent, but absolutely no on the ramen. The egg was very hard boiled. And it had giant strips of raw onion in it. Why??? The broth was boring and not rich tasting at all. They forgot my sushi in the order, so they are also not good at packing to go orders. read more

Great Sushi! Really creative and interesting rolls. A wide variety to choose from. I also had the bulgogi Udon noodle soup. The perfect body-warming, belly-filling thing for these frosty February days. The service was great, as well. Everyone was really nice and very attentive. Stopped by on a cold afternoon to heat up with some ramen. I went for the kimchi pork ramen, my friend ordered the chicken ramen, and we split a spicy tuna roll. The servers are very friendly, but seemed preoccupied - perhaps because it was close to the end of the lunch hour? Anyhow, our sushi was made quite quickly and the sushi chef rang the little bell signifying it was done. And then it sat. And we sat. And it sat. And we sat. I almost got up to get it myself (but that would be weird). Finally, someone happened to walk by, see it, and bring it by. Not well coordinated at all. That being said, the spicy tuna roll was good once it made it to the table. The ramens...I thought mine was ok - spicy, a little sour from the kimchi, decent noodles. But it was one-dimensional, with none of the flavor profile or complexity of Ren's or other great ramen places. As for my friend's chicken ramen. She said it was bland and sot sauce didn't help. Ouch. I'd probably go back for the sushi, and try their extensive menu of special rolls (most of which have awesome, if completely uninformative, names). But I wouldn't go back for ramen. read more

This restaurant is hidden from the main strip of shops in Downtown Silver Spring. There is garage parking nearby, but if you work in Downtown Silver Spring like I do it is a nice spot for lunch (a little pricier than other options around the area though). I usually order the bento box (chicken teriyaki) because its hugeee! You get so much food, everyone I have ever gone with hasn't been able to finish it. I usually split with a friend or carry out the leftovers. The Chicken Teriyaki bento box comes with California Roll, Salad, Vegetable Dumplings, Mashed Pumpkin, Fried Tofu, Fried Meats on a Skewer and a Miso Soup. I always enjoy my order, my favorite parts of the bento box are Mashed Pumpkin and the California Roll. The California Roll is stuffed with imitation crab meat and the rice is kind of wet.. I am not a fan of sushi rolls where the rice is too dry or under cooked. The staff is nice and the restaurant is really cozy. I have only gone for lunch so I am not sure about the dinner situation, but for lunch I never had to wait to be seated. I would recommend this spot :) read more

Sushi Jin is awesome! When I first walked into the restaurant I thought I was back in Japan. The interior design is very similar to the kinds of restaurants you would find in Japan, so right away I was excited to tried the food. I ordered the sake sampler (flight of 3) which comes with a traditional sake, apple sake, and a unfiltered Sake. The Apple Sake tasted just like apple juice and could be trouble if I had access to a lot of it. The unfiltered sake was the most flavorful and packed the biggest punch. I ordered the gyoza for an appetizer, which is alway a safe bet. The gyoza was cooked perfectly and was so yummy!! Another reason why I think this place is great is because they have all the regular items you would find at a sushi restaurant plus a good amount of different things to try out. I ordered the soft-shell crab and blue crap sushi roll, which comes topped with a super spicy sauce (don't order this if you can't handle real spicy). The amount of food is huge and the taste was incredible. My coworker order the kimchi pork both Ramen, which is served in a huge bowl, with slices of pork, half hard-boil egg, and kimchi. The both was packed with flavor and was spicy, but not too spicy. If you are new to the area and are in the mood for sushi, I highly recommend stopping into Sushi Jin and giving it a try, you will be happy you did. read more

Very disappointed with the service tonight. I've been here a couple times since my original review and have always been happy enough and considered it a favorite in dtss. Tonight we ordered for carry out. When we ordered a salmon skin roll, the guy on the phone yelled to someone, came back and told us to continue ordering. It seemed safe to assume they had salmon skin since they didn't tell us they didn't have it. When we paid for the sushi and left we realized we didn't get the salmon skin roll. When we called, they said they were out and that we supposedly didn't get charged for it. But we can't be sure since we paid in cash but didn't get a receipt. The person tore it off the bag to type in the order or something. We brushed off the fact that the rice seemed kinda dry and a little crunchy since we ordered at 9:20 (but for pick up) and it was the end of the night. But their eel avocado was essentially avocado. If you look at the photo you can see the ratio is pretty pathetic... Probably wouldnt come back. Which is disappointing considering how much I liked the place before. read more

Jin Sushi is the bomb! I was all depressed and stuff during the day, I came over here for lunch. It was awesome they were rocking like K-pop music in Japanese music and stuff it had a lot of energy. Got myself a glass of Pinot Grigio even though it's a workday because I need to call my nerves. My head started bumping. It was a one man party. I had their fresh salmon sashimi, into great roles.
