Take out sushi bowl
Sarah S.

Pros: Friendly greeting, discussed options for the sushi bowl with sauces. Fish and ingredients were fresh, enjoyed the sushi sauce and spicy mayo options with my bowl. Cons: The wait for my bowl was longer than 10 mins, as they had a long line of customers show up after my order was placed. They ran out of sushi rice and noticed the portions in our bowls seemed small. We ordered half salad, half rice where they use iceburg lettuce. The bowl was decent overall, but we didn't end up feeling this would be a regular place to order from.

Amazing poke bowl, maybe the best I've ever had. Different experience from poke places that prepare the bowl in front of you but it came out exactly as desired with nice portions and sauce. High quality and great prices, looking forward to returning.

Wow. What a hidden gem! Did not expect to find such a great poke/sushi spot coming home from a rodeo in Salinas. The ratings are 100% correct. My girlfriend and I both got a poke bowl which is stacked with toppings. They also had noodles and wontons etc that looked good, but we didn't get that. They also have tons of cool Japanese snacks and treats which I also didn't grab because I'm tryna cut back for my summer body unfortunately. Next time! Overall I'm impressed with the food and Mike who helped us out. Will keep this place in mind if I'm ever in the area again.

I ordered ahead online for takeout. Previous reviews about parking being difficult are true, but it wasn't impossible. The store itself has a lot of cute little goods that I wish I was able to look at more, but I was in a rush. They were quick to get me my order and I was so happy with how pretty it looked. It also tasted incredible and I was so glad there wasn't an extra charge for avocado. Absolute gem in Salinas, definitely coming again.

Tempura sushi with fried onion, California roll, seaweed salad

Cozy establishment that serves Japanese and Korean food. Although the place is called "Sushi Hut" I was surprised that the menu didn't have sushi items. But there was packaged/prepared sushi in an open fridge for a grab-n-go experience. The sushi we decided to grab was pretty good. The California roll was only $6.50 which is a steal for the quality. The pork chashu ramen was a tad bit too salty for my liking but the toppings were plentiful. The seaweed salad was $5 dollars, not too bad but it's a little pricey for a side dish. The service was quick, attentive, and overall excellent. Will come again to try other dishes!

This poke spot is my holy grail. They memorized my order and everything. 100/10 cannot recommend ENOUGH. I haven't found another poke spot that comes close to the consistency and quality they provide. #supportsmallbusinesses

Poke bowl with salmon and spicy tuna.

Fast service and no wait on a Wednesday shortly after opening. There were several good options to choose from; I decided on a poke bowl which was visually appealing and was very fresh. Pineapple was a good addition to balance the flavors. Staff were more than helpful through the ordering process and checked in on us after settling in with our food. Mom got the gyoza soup but missed more veggies, she seemed to like the tempura premade roll from the display case, as it was gone before I could snap a picture.

We saw this spot on the news and part of yelp's top 100 sushi spots so we had to check it out! It's a small family owned business and the staff was super nice and helpful. It's a tiny and very casual shop with limited sushi roll options but the fish was very fresh. There are 3-4 tables inside for dining in but you are served with take out material. This is the only thing I was a bit disappointed, maybe it will change in the future! The mini market in the center is also unique and so are the art pieces on the walls done by a local artist!

I was getting my car serviced at a dealership off of Boronda today and decided to scratch this itch, based on the Yelp reviews. I ordered the legendary poke bowl and opted for brown rice, salmon, tuna, and shrimp proteins. Let me tell you; this was on point! Friendly service, too. I'll be back!

Satisfying $13 Poke bowl

This family business is somewhat tucked away in the El Super market shopping center off E Boronda Rd. Poke Bowl ($13) Start with your base: White Rice, Brown Rice, or Lettuce then pick your Protein (choose 3) : Salmon, Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Octopus, Shrimp, or Eel Sauce: Add ins Includes: Avocado, Cucumber, Carrot, Daikon, Crab Salad, Mango, Fresh Seaweed Salad, Wasabi, Ginger, and Lemon Finally finish it off with sauces of your choice Chili Sesame, Ponzo, Spicy Mayo, Sushi Sauce, Citrus, Ginger Vinaigrette, or Sriracha While the fish isn't "sushi grade quality" it's presentation and very fair portion is on par for what you pay. Service is fast and friendly and they checked in on me 3x to see if I was good. The place is kept constantly clean, has about 4 tables mixed within the little market shelves of Asian snacks and beverages you normally would see in San Jose Asian stores. They also have a few pre-made "to-go" choices for the convenience of dash n' dine. Definitely worth a return visit to try other menu options. Ask the Community - Sushi Hut

Can you make the sushi rolls with soy or tapioca wraps?

No, they only offer seaweed wrappers for their rolls

Why does the ramen egg look hard boiled? Do they do soft boiled as is typical in ramen?

They're in between a soft and hard boiled egg imo! Medium boiled eggs, if you will.

Do you accept apple pay?

Yes! But they charge a service fee (.50¢) for orders less than $10.

9.5/10 Absolutely…read moreamazing, hands down the best Thai food in Salinas! We ordered the Pad Thai, Panang Curry, and Nam Sai, and every dish hit in its own way. Starting with the Pad Thai, we ordered it with beef and it was easily the star of the meal. Perfectly cooked soft noodles with a savory, slightly sweet sauce that was incredibly well balanced. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the addition of diced nuts added a great crunch and texture that tied everything together beautifully. The Panang Curry was also excellent. Rich, creamy, and full of flavor. It came with chicken, green beans, and bell peppers, all of which tasted fresh and perfectly cooked with a nice bite. The curry sauce was smooth and comforting, soaking into the dish incredibly well. A must-order for curry lovers. Lastly, the Nam Sai reminded us a lot of pho. On its own, it was a bit light and lacked salt, but once we added our own seasonings, it really came alive. After adjusting it to taste, it was delicious, comforting, and perfect for warming up. Service was fast and efficient, and the restaurant was clean and well kept. The ambiance was beautiful. A very nice, welcoming spot to enjoy a meal.

We've eaten here multiple times, but this time left disappointed…read more. We were sat quickly and given menus, but took our waiter quite some time to come get orders which included drinks/order together. I was in the mood for soup and had their Tom Kha a few times so originally thought about ordering that, but decided to try their Tiew Tom Yum. Mistake. My guy ordered the pork Pad Thai, and we also shared a Thai fried rice. We ordered tea, but the waiter forgot the sugar caddy we requested and didnt see him until the food arrived about 20 or so minutes later. We had some requests for side items, etc and he brought everything immediately, but didnt come back to check on us until quite some time where I had almost decided my fate of struggling through my horrible soup. It was the most sour of sour soups I've ever had. Neither one of liked it. When the waiter came around and asked about our meals expressed how much I didn't care for it, and the sour was off putting. He offered the coconut soup, which I believed was Tom Kha. When the soup was dropped off I asked for a to go container as we were done with the rest of our meals almost at that point. Again, that soup came out with an overwhelming sour flavor. Thankfully the Thai rice was delicious, so I ate the rest of that. We didnt see our server again until we were standing up ready to walk up to the front as he was the only server running around, and had one table in the place. I brought up the fact that that soup did not taste like Tom Kha, was it a different version of coconut soup? He asked the cook and she said was the same as Tom Kha. At this point we were tired and decided to go, deciding not to come back for soup ever again. Possibly, not to return in general as were irritated. Our server wasn't horrible, was very polite and was running around, however as so many servers tend to do had a one track mind only focusing on one table at a time instead of circulating his section. As a patron I don't feel like you should ever wait so long to get the check and cash out or not be checked in on more frequently.

Called in last minute to make reservation, was so nice to get the table ready for me within 40…read moreminutes for 7 people. Ordered pho, shaking beef, banh xeo, and others that I could not remember. Their pho was good, big portion and full of meat. Unfortunately the sirloin was overcooked and the other parts of the meat have too much fats in them, so it was down on the score. Their shaking beef was also meh, very thin and overly sweet, probably not their strongest dish. Banh xeo was full of meat and fillings, but not particularly crispy. All in all, it was tasty but only lacking a bit here and there. Their service was pretty good though. Their restaurants are also huge, which is a plus.

From the moment I walked in, the service began with a bad start. The staff were chatting and joking behind the counter and too distracted to notice me. I had to grab a menu myself and ask in a loud tone if I could sit anywhere just to get their attention. Once seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for a server to come by. I ordered a boba drink and pho with brisket. The server returned after another 8 minutes to say they were out of both the boba flavor I wanted and the brisket. After I reordered, the replacement boba arrived extremely sweet -- basically tasted like watered-down sugar syrup with almost no tea flavor. The pho was even more disappointing.. the broth was watery and bland, there was very little beef, and the bowl was light on noodles and toppings. It felt like a shadow of what they used to serve. It's sad to see a spot that was once one of the best pho places in Salinas (in my opinion) decline this sharply. The restaurant was unusually empty, and the few other customers looked just as unimpressed. I understand rising food and restaurant operating costs, but cutting quality this much will only drive more people away. I rarely leave negative reviews and I don't consider myself to be such a picky eater, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. I'm not sure I'll be back.

Once you step inside, the vibe shifts instantly into a perfectly clean, well-organized Mexican eatery that feels both authentic and welcoming. The service is incredibly friendly and the prices are more than fair. It's the kind of hidden gem that makes you feel like you've been let in on a local secret. The food is quite frankly phenomenal. We're talking enchiladas cooked to perfection, delicious tortillas, quesadillas boasting that glorious, milky-stretchy cheese we all dream about, and bold salsas that bring just enough zing to make you reach for your napkin (and maybe a glass of water). Even the staples like refried beans and rice were flawless, leaving us with absolutely nothing to fault.
