DISCLAIMER - I'm giving five stars because of the service and the value relative to the food quality / flavor. Please don't be fooled into thinking I'm saying this is the best sushi in South Beach, because I'm sure it's not BUT it also will not bankrupt you to eat here to your belly's content. I mean, you could even feed someone else without having buyer's remorse! AND, IT'S DELICIOUS! My BF told me later this was his favorite meal we had in all of Miami during our visit. (And we spent some serious money on food....) We were exhausted after a long day out in the sun, and just wanted something normal to eat for dinner, not some flashy overpriced SoBe spot. I luckily came across Hiro's on my Yelp app, and we made the trek over around 9pm. (Hiro's is open until 2am, btw, for you late-night diners.) This is a super casual spot. You order at the counter, take a seat, and then they call your name to let you know your meal is ready. Nearly all the tables were full when we walked in, and there was a steady stream of take-out orders being placed and picked up. It's obviously a restaurant that the locals appreciate as well as those of us not used to the prices in this part of town. Don't be turned off by the pricing. I know that "cheap sushi" has a thrillingly dangerous ring to it, and could conjure fears of food poisoning, but the quality of everything we tried was really high! It just makes me wonder how much money DOA and some of these other local sushi joints are making off of each and every roll they sell. We ordered a lot for two people, but polished nearly everything off. Honestly, we would eat here all the time if we were locals or if they had an ATL branch. We tried: - AP10: Edamame ($3.35) - NC14: Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna ($5.75 for four large pieces) - RC5: Three Peat ($12.25 for 8-piece California Roll, 8-piece Salmon C.C. I have no idea how this place does not have an overall 5 star rating. While traveling in Miami we were looking for a sushi lunch place since most of the hotel sushi restaurants didn't open until dinner. This place was the BEST find! The fish was so fresh especially the salmon. Even the avocado was insanely fresh too! We placed our ordered and were literally shocked with the prices. The sushi was so cheap and the rolls were packed with fish. For a don bowl, a California roll, a sushi appetizer, specialty roll, and soda and my bill was $28!!!! I have never seen prices so cheap for sushi! The rainbow don was probably the best thing I've ever had. It was a bowl of rice with fresh fish and avocado on top. It was delicious. I have gone to Hiro's now a few times with the boyfriend. Prices are affordable, food is plentiful, but honestly what I think is the best part about this place is the customer service. Then again, I am extremely grateful that one of the girls working there kept me company when I got sick last Saturday night, while boyfriend went to get the car. She was a doll, honestly, and I wish I had gotten her name. Customer service aside, the place is somewhat small, but there are plenty of chairs inside and out. They sell a variety of items from sushi to Thai dishes for non-fish eaters like me. I usually get the miso soup, which is always surprising to me as it's in a sterofoam cup, as well as fried gyoza. Meanwhile, boyfriend loves the takoyaki there. Hence when in Miami Beach, we're open to paying a visit to Hiro's. For very little $$, you can get a LOT of food. I ordered delivery via Seamless and under $30 thoroughly stuffed two people. What I like about this place is that they not only have innovative sushi rolls (lots of spicy tuna variations), but also other Japanese/fusion a la carte items. I ended up getting some spicy chicken wings and they were delicious. Rolls are super big for the few dollars that they cost and the ratio of fish/other ingredients to rice is perfect. Yesterday I made a pick up order from this place and went straight home after picking the closed bags. My husband LOST his TOOTH because there was a ROCK inside the Chicken Teriyaki Box! He is in a lot of pain now because of that! I had a hard time deciding, but after staring at the menu for a few minutes I decided to get the spicy tuna and tofu steak. Both were good, not great, but considering the price they were well worth it! I spent $10 on two orders of spicy tuna and 1 order of tofu steak.
