They're just down the street from Five Guys, along the same side and they're open every night until 2am. Talk about convenience and healthy late night options... Most places in South Beach are super exorbitant headed by a former top Japanese chef hailing from some famous prior place that beckons you to wear your latest outfit from the Bal Harbor Shops...but at this place you can come 7 days a week, and come in what you're wearing without taking your Hermes bag. If you're a sushi snob, then no this place isn't your deal, but let's be honest, you're not going to spend half of your paycheck here either and that's important to know. Great food...greater prices. What a pleasant surprise this place is, I cant believe that I would find great sushi at these prices with quality dishes and tastes that are on par with if not better than far more expensive options. We are talking prices like $23 for 6 rolls in a party platter, $5 taco yaki, and $6 for shrimp/vegetable tempura. These are Japan prices and that means cheap. The fish was very fresh, on par with some of the better and more expensive sushi restaurants I have been at. This round we ordered the emperor and the Three peat which gives a ton of rolls and nigiri. We followed up with taco yaki and shrimp tempura. All tasted great and thumbs up from a native japanese person is a huge win for this place. I was hoping for something fast, but it took nearly an hour for me to get my takeout order. Then I was so disappointed with my sushi. It was dry, bland, and didn't have good flavors. I couldn't eat the Dragon roll at all... there was something wrong with it. Maybe it was spoiled? I used enough soy sauce to make my way through the salmon California roll and a vegetable roll. We also ordered the filet-o-fish roll for $5. The wait was about 20 minutes for our food. The party platter was enough to feed 4 people - what a good deal!! I shared several rolls with friends, which included: - AP23 Salmon-Naruto Maki: salmon, avocado, and masago rolled in cucumber. I love cucumber rolls, and this one tastes very fresh. It comes with a clear kind of sweet vinegar sauce (as opposed to a dark ponzu sauce) which is refreshing and goes with the roll's light taste. - R18 Sweet 'n Eel Roll: fried banana, cream cheese, in a rice roll with eel on top. The roll is sweet, and the eel is cooked soft. Great bite if you like the mix of ingredients in your roll. - R17 Volcano Roll: kanikama, cream cheese, avocado, with baked dynamite on top. Very rich and creamy roll because of the baked dynamite. I loved it though, has a lot of flavor and will fill you up. The restaurant gets busy but the food still comes out quick and fresh. I came here after looking for places to eat near the salon I had an appointment with close by. It's really cheap for the amount of food given but it's not very quality products. I ordered the salmon teriyaki box and it came with tasteless "fried" rice and even tasteless salmon, along with tasteless steamed veggies and a dessert. So yea, a lot of food for $9 but not the best. The sushi on the other hand is amazing and delicious. The size is great and the taste is amazing just wouldn't recommend any actual platters. In total I paid $28 for 2 salmon teriyaki bowls, 1 spicy tuna roll, 2 miso soup and a can of soda. Great prices for SB but considering that Moshi Moshi is next door I would go there instead if you're looking for fancy dining and good food. To my fellow San Diegans this is the closest I could find to Sushi Deli in Miami Beach. Prices here are cheap. I got two rolls and a large order of tempura for $14 after tax. Tempura (veggie): large portion! Light and crisp it came out fresh and so hot I almost Burt my mouth. I wasn't in love with the dipping sauce but soy sauce works for me usually anyway. This other sauce had little flavor to me. On the other hand the tempura was good. Spicy tuna roll: I felt this was large given it was $3.29. Tuna was good and had a little kick. Nothing overly fancy but sometimes you just want a straightforward roll. Shrimp tempura roll: not my favorite. The shrimp has a heavy breading and isn't so much tempura as breaded overcooked shrimp. Also I saw some vein wasn't all the way removed which drags me down. They offer deliver with the fee depending on where you are from $2.50 to $6. Staff are very nice and I'm full! First of all, I never thought this place was very good. But my wife is Japanese and she was interested in trying it, so we gave it a shot for delivery one night. I am certainly gald we did, because a few years later, we are still ordering from them anytime we're hungry for Japanese. It's not a 5-star restaurant by any means, but I think you should take into account that Hiro's does a fantastic job at making food abd providing service within the price range that they do. That's enough to keep us coming back. We're happier to eat here more frequently than at a more expensive place with service that doesn't match. What prompted this review is that I was on the fence about ordering an item last night, and the woman on the phone was so happy to tell me that it's one of her favorites, so went for it. When we received our dinner, I saw she had hand-written a little note on the container saying, "I hope you'll like it! =)". It was very sweet of her. We really appreciated it and it really warmed our hearts. I think its little things like this that can make any business successful. My first sushi spot in Miami, Fl. I was amazed to see a Yelp sticker at the door. This place is so bright and contemporary. They have pictures of the menu everywhere. The style and atmosphere is very low-key and chill. You basically just seat yourself anywhere and grab a brochure menu and order at the counter. The rolls are really affordable! It's amazing how cheap everything is in such a high traffic area. For 3 people, we ordered a lot of food. I was so excited to order. We ended up choosing Sashimi salad, Croquettes, Shumai, Three Peat (8 pc. Cali, 8 pc. Bagel, and 5 pc. Shrimp tempura rolls $10.50), Spider roll, Crunch & Caliente roll (not that spicy!), and Cajun roll for about $40! Granted the rolls look average size but they have a lot of rice. The rolls were still good. We even topped it off with their warm sake which was smooth. I definitely want to come back and try their other rolls and appetizers. I understand the high reviews, but please take into account that this is only a deal because the fish is fresh, they have a large menu, and it's quick food. I only spent around $14 for 3 dishes - shrimp tempura (reminded me of a fish sandwich with the lettuce and mayo), chicken yakitori (I never got over the smell of it) and some cream-cheese filled savory like-pastries - and I feel like I was still a bit robbed. DISCLAIMER - I'm giving five stars because of the service and the value relative to the food quality / flavor. Please don't be fooled into thinking I'm saying this is the best sushi in South Beach, because I'm sure it's not BUT it also will not bankrupt you to eat here to your belly's content. I luckily came across Hiro's on my Yelp app, and we made the trek over around 9pm. (Hiro's is open until 2am, btw, for you late-night diners.) This is a super casual spot. You order at the counter, take a seat, and then they call your name to let you know your meal is ready. Nearly all the tables were full when we walked in, and there was a steady stream of take-out orders being placed and picked up. It's obviously a restaurant that the locals appreciate as well as those of us not used to the prices in this part of town. Don't be turned off by the pricing. I know that "cheap sushi" has a thrillingly dangerous ring to it, and could conjure fears of food poisoning, but the quality of everything we tried was really high! It just makes me wonder how much money DOA and some of these other local sushi joints are making off of each and every roll they sell. We ordered a lot for two people, but polished nearly everything off. Honestly, we would eat here all the time if we were locals or if they had an ATL branch.
