The broth was so bland and tasted horrible, the noodles were worse they were soggy and the meat was reallyyyy fatty and sweet?, i only took a few bites and I feel sick after eating the ramen.

Food was okay, flavor was great and the sauce on it tasty. Service was great they checked on me everytime the waitress had a chance and it was amazing. Ambiance of the restaurant was great it was clean and spaces between tables were great for a more intimate conversation without anyone eves dropping. Overall 8/10 for my rating.

Absolutely adore sushi Daruma. Always a hit and you can't go wrong with anything here. The rolls are decent size and priced. Appreciate small businesses like this. For no wait come right when they open because it gets busy quick! Their service is also great. Food comes out quickly and delicious

I had such a great experience here! The service was super fast and everyone was really friendly. My food came out quickly, fresh, and honestly the sushi was bomb. Everything tasted so good and the presentation was on point too. Definitely one of my new favorite sushi spots can't wait to come back!

Food was excellent. I got the hamachi kama and it was grilled to perfection. The sauce that came with it was great. It was a delivery and still arrived warm and was not overly dry or otherwise. Only issue was that there was not any soy sauce for my rolls. The alaska roll and futo maki were both great. The selection here is like no other in the area and i was thoroughly impressed with my meal. Please just read the notes on orders. Thank you

We were in Salinas for the day and we decided to check this new place out. We had tea and it was served in this cute kettle and wooden tea cups. We tried sushi, ramen, and their Bento Box and it was all delicious with large portions and very filling. The presentation was great too. The server was great except that towards the end we weren't checked on a lot and we needed more tea and water and boxes and wanted to order dessert and all that. It was good though.

We went there on a Monday and it was busy so I understand the wait. 15 minutes later a server started taking our order. Because we were hungry I told her I was ready to order. She said "Drinks first!". I sighed and she said "You're getting ahead of me," in a very unfriendly voice. I was frustrated with her attitude so I asked her name. She said annoyingly, "Michelle, what's your name?" I did not reply but I am getting heated. She asked if I wanted another server. I said sure. She want back after a few mins and gave me a piece of paper with her name and said "in case you want to know how I spell it." I was so appalled with the audacity! I was with my daughter so I didn't want to argue or make a scene so I did not say anything. I got up while she was in the cash register near the bar and gave her back her paper and told her "you are so rude." She said the "You are so rude!" I went back to my table and the patrons next to me were sympathizing with me. The server walks by and said "I can ask you to leave im.. " I couldn't hear the rest. I did not reply and she left. The other server came by and took our order and apologized on her behalf. She was way nicer. I asked if the rude girl is the manager, she said no and apologized again. As I was writing this review the rude server keeps walking by and making comments. She was reading what I am doing with my phone and said "A long ass one huh"! referring to this review. At this point I chuckled because I could not believe how ridiculous the server is. She kept trying to taunt me by going back to my table despite me not responding! I have not been treated this way anywhere in the world. She should not be in the service industry Her name is MICHIELE. My daughter and I travel and eat out a lot and we talked about how we have never experienced anyone like her! "Mom, she is so rude! I couldn't believe it." Definitely telling friends not to come here. Of course no review on food bec I have lost my appetite. *UPDATE* I talked to the owner Dennis. He was very nice and appreciative of being informed. Said he will talk to the rude server and he has talked to his team. I declined the comped meal; told him she needs to be reprimanded for her arrogance or she needs customer service training before she can interact with HIS clients. I emphasized he will lose revenue because of her. I made sure he knows Stephanie the other server deserved the tip I gave her because she gave us really good service! Thanks, Dennis!

Came in the Sunday night of the Light Parade, and ordered the dinner combo with Teriyaki salmon, gyoza and halibut (I believe). Everything was delicious. Considering how quickly the place filled upon opening at 5pm (due to the crowds outside), my meal arrived within a reasonable amount of time, and was complimented nicely by the miso soup & side salad. Would definitely come back to try the actual sushi next time. Inside is cute and cozy; make sure you arrive early or call in your order ahead of time, as it fills up quickly.

First time stopping by Sushi Daruma! * Spicy Edamame was extremely tasty! Would return for that alone! * Shrimp Tempura was wasn't anything special. * The sushi was tasty but not anything notable either. * The service was okay as well. The staff was friendly but slowed down towards the end of our visit. They were extremely fast to get the food out though! The ambiance was nice and clean.

Best sushi restaurant in town! Fresh rolled sushi, huge variety, and their combo dinners are so good and reasonably priced! Great food great service. Every time!!! Only place we go now!! Downfall is it's small, if you have a party of 7-8, there is only one big table available to seat you. Go early!!! read more

Service was good but the food was disappointing. The beef teriyaki was tough and chewy,and the chicken teriyaki was mid at best.They definitely need to improve their meat vendor. The tempura was ok. I can't speak for the sushi as I didn't order any.Overall I probably won't go here again. read more

Every time we come here, we have a group of AT LEAST 9 people. Never have a problem getting a table, even on a FRIDAY night! I mean, we waited about 10 mins, but it was worth the wait. Sushi is EXCELLENT, service was EXCELLENT. Will ALWAYS come here! read more

Was planning to celebrate a birthday with a party of 10 people here. This business outright refused to accommodate. NO EXCEPTIONS. We were even willing to divide our party into smaller groups. So fair warning if you have a large family. Very disappointed with the attitude of the people here. Replying back to Sushi Daruma: It was understood of your policy of first come first serve vs reservations. It was understood your need to turn tables. But your need to blame the customer for not knowing the size of their party is a bit of a joke. We were hosting people from other states and wanted them to experience your establishment. Your business failed but we went to a restaurant that was more than accommodating. Not to embarrass you but they too were busy, packed, and understaffed. I was driving through town to pick up sushi. The chirashi bowl didn't have sushi rice, just pain rice. The wait was 30 minutes for take out. The sushi chef seemed rude to the waitress. Ambiance was fine. read more

Very great ambience and friendly staff. The menu offered a wide variety of sushi dishes. My server, Thu, had a wide depth of knowledge of the menu. I had asked for recommendations and she recommended the Spicy Lover's roll. I had ordered the Spicy Lover's and Dragon roll. Both were delicious and I highly recommend it for those who enjoy unagi rolls. I will definitely be back! read more

Let's start with the good parts about this restaurant, service is good, the sushi rolls, and freshness of the fish is good. It's worth coming here to hang out with friends, grab some drinks and eat good sushi. Now for the bad: DO NOT GET THE RAMEN. This is not exaggerated, it's not ramen. The broth wasn't edible, it tasted and looked like heated up dish water. Unfortunately, it made me and my wife send BOTH of our bowls back to the kitchen. read more

Went to dinner with my family and my teacher from Japan. Food was excellent, great flavors and portions were about right for the price. -1 star simply because it took almost an hour with hungry kiddos waiting for our food from the time we ordered it. It is possible the day we went they were short handed as it looked like there was only one chef working that day. read more

Such a good new spot! Food is delicious. I haven't had the sushi but went in for the tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious. Also the gyozas were amazing! It's a great addition to old town salinas hope to see more cool restaurants like this open in the future. Aside from the amazing food the service was fast, even though it was dinner on a Friday night. Definitely a must try! read more

The food was very "meh". Nothing terribly good or bad. It wasn't good enough for me to go back. I think many of the Japanese restaurants in Salinas are pretty sub standard because they don't have actually sushi chefs to take pride in what they put out. At this location, the fish wasn't even fresh! The color and smell of the fish was very off. They need to have a better quality fish to be a good sushi place. read more

The food here is amazing! I have had take our many times and also ate inside many times. This place is busy cause the food and the service is great! Ashley was our waitress. She was amazing! Very attentive, always checking on us to see if we needed anything. They were super busy but Ashley still took the time to check on us to make sure we were happy. Great food, usually bustling with a good vibe. I love that a Bento Box (called dinner special) is available at all times, not just lunch like many shops. The donburi bowl is generous enough to fill a hungry teenager. Also the kid bento boxes are a reasonable price. Recently discovered the Maui Wowe special roll and will be back for more. Be sure to dress in layers, since it can get chilly if seated at the front of the shop by the door. read more

I took my son and daughter for their first sushi meal and it was absolutely wonderful! We were able to sit outside with the terrific view of downtown Salinas. The fish was absolutely fantastic. Super fresh. I think I had about the best dragon roll ever! Mina was our server and took great care of us. I will be back for sure and highly recommend this place. read more

What a gem! From the moment you enter you are pleasantly greeted and attended to. Ordered the nigiri omakase for $22 and was absolutely blown away with the quality and value, especially when compared to my usual Bay Area sushi joints which charge at least double! Salmon skin hand roll was masterfully rolled and included the perfect amount of crunch and was tightly wrapped and delicious. Will definitely return at my next occasion. Highly recommend. read more

It's been a long time since I've been here. Came with my family and my kids and I all got the bento box with ton katsu tempura and gyoza and my husband got a sushi roll. Food was good and so was the service in the beginning. People started coming in and the waitress was all on her own for the most part. I was amazed at how large the portions were for the lunch specials. Would definitely come back for lunch for sure. read more

The food is okay. The ramen typically is lacking flavor and the spicy edamame tastes like it just has tajin as the "spicy". I have to always add an obscene amount of soy sauce to add flavor. The server i had not sure her name but she was a young girl with bangs she didn't seem to have the best customer service kinda seemed like she didn't want to be there. I've given this place a few chances but everytime the food just doesn't seem to wow me especially with all the sushi competition in town. read more

My wife and I were so pleased - We ordered to go for the first time and it was a great experience - The staff on the phone were so helpful with the ordering and took time to explain exactly what to expect - The food was ready on time as promised and the transaction was seamless and we felt very safe and appreciated The Poke Salad was exceptional - It was a good size and loaded with fish and fresh greens My wife particularly liked the Wakame Salad - She loves seaweed and it did not disappoint The Hamachi and Maguro were delicious and had a good balance of fish vs rice We particularly like the Big Daddy Roll All of the accompaniments were included as well as the extra ginger we requested This is seriously good Japanese food and we will definitely order again and look forward to dining inside their restaurant when rules ease up read more

A staff member named John actually recognized me and remembered the situation, which really stood out. He went out of his way to make things right, and I genuinely appreciated that level of service. I finally got the spicy teriyaki chicken with noodles I had been craving, and it absolutely delivered. The flavor was spot on with just the right kick, and it was just as good as I had been hoping all week. It definitely had my mouth watering. Great customer service and great food. I will be looking forward to returning for the light flavorful Alaskan cod at Cong N Go as long as they continue to serve it. Thanks so much for an excellent and very enjoyable afternoon meal. The food here overall is amazing and all of you looking for a change of pace have to stop by and sample the menu.

I've visited Sushi Daruma three times in the past month, hoping each time would be better than the last. Unfortunately, my experiences have been consistently disappointing and this is coming from local within the area. On my first visit, despite it being a slow Tuesday night, it took a whopping 20 minutes just to get water on the table. My group and I waited patiently, only to find the same issue on a Thursday visit. Again, the restaurant wasn't busy, yet we waited another 20 minutes for drinks before leaving out of frustration. Thinking perhaps the third time would be the charm, we returned on a busy Saturday evening. Surprisingly, drinks were being served promptly to other tables. We placed our order, but only one drink arrived after 10 minutes for our group of four. We never got our other drinks and didn't even bother to inform the server since this was always an issue the previous times. The food took an additional 45 minutes to arrive, and when it did, the baked and deep-fried rolls were cold. When we politely informed our waitress about the issue, we were told nothing could be done, and we would still be charged for the food. This lack of accountability and poor customer service is unacceptable. Overall, I cannot recommend Sushi Daruma. There are plenty of other sushi spots in town that offer a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and most importantly, better quality sushi. Save yourself the disappointment and dine elsewhere. read more

Absolutely LOVE this place ^_^ The salmon here is pure bliss--it literally melts in your mouth, making every bite an exquisite experience. If I could, I'd indulge in their sushi daily it's simply that good! Their ramen is an absolute hidden gem, rich and flavorful, deserving way more recognition. The chicken teriyaki is juicy and perfectly complemented by its delightful sauce, while the salad dressing is a masterpiece in itself. I can't get enough of the Oishii Roll--it's my absolute favorite, particularly with their exceptional spicy mayo that scores a perfect 10/10! My boyfriend and I love this place! We've been here at least 5 or 6 times because the price is great and the food is even better! It's definitely a new go-to for us! The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We usually stop by on Saturday afternoons and try the lunch special. Our favorites include the edamame, miso soup, chicken teriyaki, sushi, California rolls, gyoza, and chicken katsu.
