Asian Kitchen 1 - Prunedale, California. Across the way from Stevie's Restaurant in the Prunetree Shopping Center. Recently opened. Family run operation from the San Jose. They are doing both mostly Chinese Food with a few Vietnamese phö soups and fresh shrimp spring rolls. Which is pretty much what I ordered. They ran out of basil and swapped it out with cilantro. The beef broth was really good. The service was good and Seated promptly. The tea was interesting as it came in a paper cup instead of a regular ceramic cup or teapot & cup. The spring roll were large and tasty with a pre package sauce. The restaurant looks like it was remodel with nice Asian accents. Note: Closed on Mondays. I am looking to go back to try the Chinese food menu.

Drove 30 mins for Chinese and it did not disappoint. Will gladly make the drive again. Food was delicious and flavorful. Loan's Service was outstanding and so welcoming.

I'm not from the area but I cam down to visit some friends for the weekend. We decided to come to Asian Kitchen 1 for lunch and I must say the food here is very delicious. Though Chinese food consists a lot of oil, this place makes their food w just the perfect amount of oil. Not too much and not too little. After eating here it didn't made me feel icky like the other Chinese food places I've been to. 10/10. Food wise: my favorite was the WONTON SOUP!!! Wonton soup was spectacular along with Walnut shrimp. Love their stir fried noodles also!! Drinks: BOBA!! They had boba milk tea here and it was delightful with our meal :)!! Overall I had an amazing time here thanks to the Owner, Lo Ann, and Rocco! LoAnn was very nice and welcoming. Rocco was a great server and made our experience even more enjoyable

Fast to go and splendid food. Caring service. Seems to be under new ownership and it shows!

Combo plate with chicken chow mein and sweet and sour pork. Side order of beef and broccoli!

Heard about the buzz on the new owners of Asian Kitchen! Decided to give it a try myself by ordering a combo plate with all the goodies! I got a chicken chow mein combo with sweet and sour pork and a side of the beef and broccoli. The vegetables tasted fresh and the meat beef was amazingly tender!

Did I need or want the extra veggies with the rice? Nahh.. i'm particular in how my veggies are cooked. But, just the teriyaki chicken with rice in a junior bowl was enough to fulfill my lunch slump hunger! I didn't even need the extra sauce it comes with! Ooh! a tip on adding veggies though that I think would be amazing IF they had shredded lettuce as a veggie side since it would soak up that yummy teriyaki sauce! Teriyaki madness, ya feel me on that? Lol not sure if that's already a thing here~ Definitely go here for that quick, eatery vibe! they have some other proteins like salmon, tofu, steak.. yup definitely coming here for that protein fix- and if i'm feeling wild.. maaaybe adding veggies next time hehe.

I like how the vegetables were soft but not mushy and over cooked or drenched in oil. Last night I almost ordered the tamarind baby back ribs. Since I am staying away from pork, I went with the waitress's recommendation of sizzling beef with red bell pepper. Excellent! We came here for the pad thai and it was so ordinary. I should not trust a person who doesn't like seafood. How am I going to share a meal with someone that doesn't eat fish? My whole protein diet is based on fish and red meat. You come here to drink Thai Tea with extra cream not a shot of whiskey for $6.00. It was a good business meeting but I am going to have to come back here with someone who really enjoys food. This is the second time I have gone to eat with someone who kind of ruined the experience of a new restaurant for me. It is not their fault. I had a headache and now I have a low tolerance for people who are not on the same vibe as me.

The Good: * We loved the location--down a set of stairs into a dimly lit, cozy space. * And speaking of cozy spaces, we love that every table is its own private booth. Nothing is more annoying than having to dine with strangers just inches away, in my opinion. * Service was, uhhh, interesting but passable. We actually liked the dude who was following up behind our server, as he seemed like a really cool guy with definite opinions on the food. * Make sure you order their unique take on chips and salsa! Their fried wonton wrappers paired with a deliciously unique ginger pico de gallo were fantastic. * The Fried Fish Cakes (a daily special, so they might not always be on the menu) were delicious and full of flavor. * We both loved our entrées; my Black Bean Halibut was cooked perfectly--tender and flaky--and I loved the funky fermented black bean sauce. Carissa is still talking about her Almond Sea Bass weeks later, so 'nuff said. * The Warm Tempura Banana Sundae was a bit odd but worked in a weird way. We normally skip dessert unless it's something unique, and this certainly fit the bill! The Meh: * Reservations are handled the old-fashioned way: via telephone. * No outdoor dining. The Ugly: * While being underground is part of their charm, as mentioned above, it is definitely not ADA-compliant. So if you or anyone in your party has difficulty traversing stairs, this probably isn't the place for you. Conclusion: Fantastic date-night spot with great service, ambiance, and food. Highly recommended.

Parking can be difficult as they are located in downtown Carmel. Came in a bit early to try to be seated earlier but they were fully booked so we waited for our designated reservation time. They always serve you with complimentary bread service of focaccia in garlic infused olive oil & balsamic vinegar. We had grilled calamari and crispy garlic fries for starters. Our main dishes were Seafood pasta, Gyros Platter, Prawn Pasta, Osso Buco and Steak of the Day - 16 oz sirloin in peppercorn sauce. Dessert was cookie butter banana pie and complimentary baklava. The first thing they brought out was bread with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette and, no joke, that ended up being my favorite bite of the meal. I was still thinking about the bread while eating everything else, which probably says more than I intended. The clam chowder was good and comforting, but if you've had chowder in Monterey, you know the bar is pretty high. The calamari was the bigger disappointment. It was chewy instead of tender and didn't have that light, crispy crunch that makes calamari worth ordering in the first place. By the time we finished the chowder and calamari we were full, but we still looked through the menu to see if anything tempted us. Honestly, nothing really stood out. The pasta prices felt steep, and there wasn't a dish that made us say, "Okay, we have to come back and try that." The only thing that really took away from the experience was how close the tables were. I could hear the people next to us whispering and accidentally became invested in a conversation I was never invited to. Overall, it's a cute place with great service and a nice ambiance that's worth checking out if you're visiting Carmel. I don't regret going, but I also don't see myself going back. On the bright side, at least the bread gave me something to remember. Someone in that kitchen deserves a raise for that basket alone.
