    Spring Rolls

Asian Kitchen 1 - Prunedale, California. Across the way from Stevie's Restaurant in the Prunetree Shopping Center. Recently opened. Family run operation from the San Jose. They are doing both mostly Chinese Food with a few Vietnamese phö soups and fresh shrimp spring rolls. Which is pretty much what I ordered. They ran out of basil and swapped it out with cilantro. The beef broth was really good. The service was good and Seated promptly. The tea was interesting as it came in a paper cup instead of a regular ceramic cup or teapot & cup. The spring roll were large and tasty with a pre package sauce. The restaurant looks like it was remodel with nice Asian accents. Note: Closed on Mondays. I am looking to go back to try the Chinese food menu.

Always the best food and service. So happy to have this place so near. The soups and teas are amazing and yet to have a bad entree. Orange crispy beef, sub gun won ton are both regular orders.

Drove 30 mins for Chinese and it did not disappoint. Will gladly make the drive again. Food was delicious and flavorful. Loan's Service was outstanding and so welcoming.

I'm not from the area but I cam down to visit some friends for the weekend. We decided to come to Asian Kitchen 1 for lunch and I must say the food here is very delicious. Though Chinese food consists a lot of oil, this place makes their food w just the perfect amount of oil. Not too much and not too little. After eating here it didn't made me feel icky like the other Chinese food places I've been to. 10/10. Food wise: my favorite was the WONTON SOUP!!! Wonton soup was spectacular along with Walnut shrimp. Love their stir fried noodles also!! Drinks: BOBA!! They had boba milk tea here and it was delightful with our meal :)!! Overall I had an amazing time here thanks to the Owner, Lo Ann, and Rocco! LoAnn was very nice and welcoming. Rocco was a great server and made our experience even more enjoyable

Fast to go and splendid food. Caring service. Seems to be under new ownership and it shows!

Combo plate with chicken chow mein and sweet and sour pork. Side order of beef and broccoli!

Heard about the buzz on the new owners of Asian Kitchen! Decided to give it a try myself by ordering a combo plate with all the goodies! I got a chicken chow mein combo with sweet and sour pork and a side of the beef and broccoli. The vegetables tasted fresh and the meat beef was amazingly tender!

Great food! The whole experience from start to finish is great waitress is always so friendly and kind. The food is authentic and the prices are fair for the portion size. Will come back when we head this way again.

We ordered the Garlic Lemon Pepper wings, Soy Garlic Wings, Ottosbread Cheese rolls and the lumpia. Forgot to try the noodles (will be back) Lumpia was nice and crispy, yet decadently melty when you take a bite, it's a veggie filled lumpia and I would love to have tried a meat filled version, from what I've seen on the chefs posts and the gravy topping the cheese rolls (more on that later) I'm sure it would be amazing. Cheese rolls were amazing, softest rolls I've had in a long time served hot, looks like they collab with a local bakery and it's definitely fresh. They cut half way down the roll and that made it perfect to drop the topping in and enjoy, gravy topping is a staple you can dip anything in. (Like a meat filled lumpia!) ;) Wings are a hitter for sure, I could hardly share the GLP wings with my wife, they were that good! Crispy but dredged in a nice garlicky lemony sauce.. 10/10 wing. Soy garlic was awesome too, good sauce ratio wings cooked to perfection and kept the crisp even being sauced up like they were. Left satisfied and with a few leftover wings which we threw into the air fryer and are eating now as I'm writing this. Still better than any wings I've found around me. Thinking back, if there was a way to get that GLP on the fries, now that would be heaven for me.. My only complaint is that they are so far away... I'm gonna have to drive a hour to get this amazing food again... Definitely worth it though! Customer service was above and beyond, Owner/chef came out, super humble dude. wish him the best on his endeavor, Thank you Chef Philly

Ooh! a tip on adding veggies though that I think would be amazing IF they had shredded lettuce as a veggie side since it would soak up that yummy teriyaki sauce! Teriyaki madness, ya feel me on that? All of the desserts seemed delicious but we settled on the Ohana Pie for $15. This pie is Oreo cookie crust, ice cream (the flavor changes and this day it was chocolate fudge brownie), whipped cream, macadamia nuts, and hot fudge. The dessert was so delicious! It was exactly what I wanted and a large serving that was perfect for the both of us. I have absolutely no complaints about the food. The service however was bad. There is a bar in one room and additional bar style seating in another. We took a seat at the bar style seating (not the actual bar) since it was self seating and the restaurant was mildly busy. It took a while for a waitress to come up to us and take our order. When she did we made it clear that we just wanted to dessert to split and a couple glasses of water. When she brought the dessert out 15 minutes later she brought our check out with it. I took a bite of the dessert and then immediately put my card down so that she could take it whenever she came back. She did not check on us again for a full 40 minutes. The only reason she ended up coming up to us is because I was turned in my barstool waiting for her with the bill in my hand. We wanted to ask for napkins since we were eating what was essentially ice cream cake and didn't even get those until we were actively leaving. The dessert was good, but I hate when a restaurant offers self seating and then does not do a good job actually servicing it. I don't know if that was the reason the service was so terrible or if it was because we were only ordering dessert. It was disappointing to feel like we were being ignored by our waitress when she was incredibly attentive to other tables.

The Good: * We loved the location--down a set of stairs into a dimly lit, cozy space. * And speaking of cozy spaces, we love that every table is its own private booth. Nothing is more annoying than having to dine with strangers just inches away, in my opinion. * Service was, uhhh, interesting but passable. We actually liked the dude who was following up behind our server, as he seemed like a really cool guy with definite opinions on the food. * Make sure you order their unique take on chips and salsa! Their fried wonton wrappers paired with a deliciously unique ginger pico de gallo were fantastic. * The Fried Fish Cakes (a daily special, so they might not always be on the menu) were delicious and full of flavor. * We both loved our entrées; my Black Bean Halibut was cooked perfectly--tender and flaky--and I loved the funky fermented black bean sauce. Carissa is still talking about her Almond Sea Bass weeks later, so 'nuff said. * The Warm Tempura Banana Sundae was a bit odd but worked in a weird way. We normally skip dessert unless it's something unique, and this certainly fit the bill! The Meh: * Reservations are handled the old-fashioned way: via telephone. * No outdoor dining. The Ugly: * While being underground is part of their charm, as mentioned above, it is definitely not ADA-compliant. So if you or anyone in your party has difficulty traversing stairs, this probably isn't the place for you. Conclusion: Fantastic date-night spot with great service, ambiance, and food. Highly recommended.

Located…read moreright in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, inside Carmel Plaza off Ocean and Mission, this family-owned and family-run restaurant opened in early 2024 and has quickly become one of my family's favorite places to eat. I am an absolute foodie, and over the years I have honestly become harder to impress. I've been disappointed many times by restaurants that look great but do not deliver when it comes to quality, flavor, consistency, or service. JEJU Kitchen is different. From the first time we tried it, it felt special. The food is fresh, creative, flavorful, and made with care. It has a new and exciting twist on Korean food, with touches of California and even a little Hawaiian influence mixed in. In my opinion, it is the best twist on Korean food in Monterey County. One of the absolute standouts is the coconut shrimp. These are not your average coconut shrimp. They are the largest coconut shrimp I have seen since the late 1990s at Chart House. I believe they use a very large shrimp count, something like 8/12 count shrimp, which means only about 8 to 12 shrimp per pound. These are extra, extra large, and they are incredible. Even though they are technically an appetizer, several members of my family order them as their main dish because they are that good. My family absolutely loves them. The kimchi is also excellent, and they have so many other great dishes, but one of my personal favorites is their kimchi burger. It is such a fun and delicious twist on a classic burger. The balance of flavors is exactly what makes JEJU Kitchen so unique. I have also uploaded photos of the jalapeño smashburger and the jalapeño chicken sandwich, both of which are outstanding. You can choose onion rings, fries, or a side salad, and honestly, you cannot go wrong with any of them. The staff is another big reason this place stands out. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and always there to help. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they are building. The service feels genuine, not forced, and that makes a big difference. In a town with so many restaurants, it is refreshing to find a place that combines great food, warm hospitality, and a family-run atmosphere. My family has lived in Carmel for over 12 years, and I have personally been visiting Carmel Plaza for more than 35 years. JEJU Kitchen is one of the best additions I have seen come to the plaza. It brings something fresh, creative, and much needed to the area. One thing to know before going: this place gets very busy. I highly recommend making a reservation. If you do not have one, they do have bar seating that is first come, first served. You can also order through DoorDash or directly through their website, which I do regularly. Just keep in mind that on busy weekends, they may be too backed up to take online orders, which is completely understandable given how popular they have become. JEJU Kitchen is warm, flavorful, creative, and sincere. Whether you are local, visiting Carmel, or just walking through Carmel Plaza, this is a restaurant worth trying. I hope they continue to grow, and I would be very excited to see them open more locations around the Peninsula.
