Great service, dealt with my picky ass...food is awesome at this location. Advertising is tempting. Great vibes.

Tofu Teriyaki Bowl
Alex R.

* Quick service * Friendly staff * Vegan/Vegetarian Options available * The tofu is cooked very well and the sauces are so good! * Ambiance/atmosphere isn't anything special. Just a quick bite to eat-style * Add ons are a bit pricey given portion sizes of the add ons (ie extra protein) * Quality/Service differs too much from other locations, which in this case is good because I prefer the Salinas location

As we entered, this strip center restaurant was a little sparse on decor. Two TV's enabled us to watch the 49'rs which was a big plus. Jaden was our host and server. Great young man. He was vested in making our experience as positive as possible. He told us what the most popular and his favorite dishes. We wanted to try many dishes so Jaden made sure the kitchen didn't fire everything all at once. We started with the Lumpia's (5/5). The 4 rolls comes with an interesting (in a good way) sauce that enhances the flavor of the Lumpia. This is a must-try for newbies. Next Jaden brought the alacarte garlic noodles (4/5), and the Cajun shrimp served over garlic rice (6/5). The garlic shrimp was one of my favorite dishes. The rice was like the best fried rice I'd ever had. The large grilled shrimp were cooked perfectly. We then tried the Cajun Parmesan chicken wings served with garlic fries (4/5). The wings could have been crispier, but the tasty sauce made the skin soft. Next came the kung pao chicken served over white rice (4/5) and the Mongolian steak served over white rice (4/5). Both were good, there just wasn't anything special about either dish. This restaurant is a must-try for folks living in Monterey County. All the dishes had great flavor and if you like garlic, you'll love this place. Jaden shared with us that the business is owned by a local chef who has worked at some of the high end restaurants around Monterey County, but is now blazing his own trail. Come support this local chef and small business. You won't be disappointed with these asian fusion dishes.

The ingredients all feel of high quality and the dishes are unique, and fun! The ambience of the restaurant itself is that of a bar, with dimmer lighting, but without overtly loud music, making it great for a casual hangout or date! If you want to come just for drinks, they have an extensive drink menu, including designated dates and times for happy hour (tiki hour?) with a special menu with small appetizers to enjoy with your drink. During my last visit, I ordered the jerk pork plate which came with pulled spicy pork, coconut rice, a gingery cole slaw, fried sweet plantains (perfect contrast to the spicy pork), and a small piece of a Johny cake (imagine a corncake that is a little crispy). We also ordered the coconut shrimp rolls to share and wish we would have ordered a second plate! These were filled with small pieces of shrimp, wrapped in a crunchy (but not very oily) shell, and topped with shredded coconut. They were served alongside a sweet and sour pineapple sauce (delicious, but honestly the rolls tasted great even without the sauce). My dad ordered fish of the day (he chose Mahi mahi) encrusted in macadamias and loved it! It is nice that they offer options that feel more like a sit-down restaurant than strict "bar food." I hope to return to try more things on their menu! Maybe even for a little Friday night fun drink!

There's something about savory meats and being comforted with creamy mac salad. If you're a dessert lover, a must-get is their Ohana Pie. It's made with sky-high famous Marianne's ice cream, Oreo cookie crust, mac nuts, house-made whipped cream and hot fudge. It's luxurious, cold, and lots of crunchy textures. Hula's Island Grill is such a fun spot to hang and lounge around with cocktails. Service is sweet and attentive.

I gotta keep it real:…read more Finding good AZN food in Monterey County is like unicorn hunting. You'll have an easier time finding a sugar daddy (or mama) at Pebble Beach or Carmel by the Sea. Judging by the name and playful monkey mascot, Cong N Go may not look like a spot serving up seriously delicious and flavorful SE AZN cuisine BUT they are! Owned by two Cambodian sisters, one holds it down in the FOH while the other is cheffing it up in the kitchen. Indoor seating but they have dog-friendly outdoor seating upon request (two tables). F O O D * Sach Ko Jakak: Cambodian Beef Satay (3 pc-$14) The marinated, tender beef skewers were sweet-savory with aromatic lemongrass flavor and nicely charred, slightly crisp edges. I forgot to ask if they offer sticky rice but it would've been the ideal accompaniment. * Fried Chicken Wings w/ jeow som dipping sauce, rice ($18) Perfectly done, the massive whole chicken wings were shatteringly crunchy on the outside and juicy inside. The "crack sauce" (jeow som) was bright and punchy, hitting all the right notes...salty, tangy, sweet, garlicky, and slightly spicy. Served with steamed rice and fresh veggies. * Kuy Teav Cha: Cambodian Stir-Fried Noodles w/ pork, shrimp ($18) Savory, slightly sweet, and umami, the soft, chewy rice noodles came with tender pork, shrimp, and a boiled egg. Raw bean sprouts, cilantro, green onions, and peanuts brought welcome freshness and crunch for a well-balanced dish. S E R V I C E Friendly, attentive, and prompt.
