The noodles here are so flavorful and pack such a punch, we found ourselves ordering from here two nights in a rows The texture of the thick rice noodles (pad see ewe, drunken noodle) are perfect- tender with a slight bit of chewiness. The sauce that's in the pad see ewe in particular is so addictive. The right amount of savory, slightly sweet and lots of umami. Even the kids, the hardest to please, loved the food here. Clean, pleasant interior and friendly service. The only minor critique is that the beef in the noodles was too chewy, definitely could use some tenderization. Will definitely be back! read more

This used to be our regular Thai fix. Little disappointed for the last 2 visits. All have been lunch specials though. Portion sizes have dropped significantly. As this is our local spot, we may give it another try. But there are other decent alternatives in the nearby cities. read more

Not going to lie, the food was pretty impressive here. Flavors were on point and up to par. Ordered the salmon lover, drunken noodles, masuman curry, and spicy basil chicken. Massuman curry was definitely the best and stood out. Drunken noodles and basil chicken were also great. The only reason why I knocked this down 2 stars is because of the portion sizes. I mean just take a look at the amount of drunken noodles we got? I genuinely thought the chef took a couple nibbles out of my food? I understand it's a lunch special but seriously? I could have cleared each one of these plates in maybe 4 bites and would need another one to be full. The masuman curry was portioned well however. Salmon was also a ripoff for 20 bucks, BUT it was pretty tasty. This would've been an easy 5 stars if they had just increased the dish size. I was traveling thru the area and had to stay overnight. When it was time for dinner, I took a quick drive around and found this restaurant. Thai food sounded good so I walked in and was greeted by the friendly family who runs this place. I ordered the following: - Beef Larb - Yellow chicken curry - Jasmine rice - Sticky rice with sweet coconut milk and mangos - Thai iced tea Once I got back to my hotel, I was greeted with everything packaged nicely and with care. And I was delighted that the food I ordered was DELICIOUS. The beef Larb was so savory and tangy with the lime juice, and the lettuce leafs were so fresh and crisp. The yellow curry was so flavorful and full of fresh vegetables, and the chicken was so tender. The sticky rice with coconut milk and mangos was so satisfying. The mangos were so sweet and fresh, usually a hit or miss when buying mangos in general. Such a sweet treat. And the Thai iced tea was refreshing and gently sweet. I really can't say enough good things about my meal. I wish I lived in the area as I would absolutely come here all the time read more

Great service, great interior atmosphere, and great food...what else could you ask for? Located in a shopping strip of some large stores, Sukho Thai has easy parking. What was surprising to me was to find the interior to be spacious, clean, and well-decorated because the exterior shows a small storefront with some wear and tear (pretty standard findings in Watsonville). But inside, it was lovely. Prices were decent, portions were average, flavors were fabulous. We were seated right away, and the service was so fast and they were always paying attention -- whether it was when my daughter finished her drink or when we finished a dish, someone was at our table within seconds. I was very impressed. If you are craving solid Thai cuisine in the Watsonville area, I'd come here for sure. The are may not be "date-worthy", but it would be great to go to with friends and family. read more

We dined in during lunch and got to order off their lunch menu. It's a great deal! $12.95 entree, salad, and rice with some upgrade options. They also have another deal that's $14.95 for the same items PLUS an appetizer. My husand and I both chose this option. I got Tom Kha as the appetizer, massaman curry as my entree, and upgraded to sticky rice for an extra $1. My husband got the eggplant plate with a $1 upgrade to rice noodles, and crab Rangoon as the appetizer. Everything was so flavorful and cooked well! Loved the consistency of my curry. Some places make it too thin but they get it just right here. The tom kha is so comforting. I love the peanut dressing on the salad! The service was great too and they were so patient and sweet with our baby boy who would not stop waving at them lol. Great birthday lunch after kayaking close by! read more

Sukhothai used to be the best restaurant in Watsonville. It's been sold and the new owners are clueless about quality, flavorful food. The server told me the former owners did not sell the recipes, so the same menu tastes completely different. And it's not good. The lunch salad contained lettuce that was old and brown and had a gloppy peanut sauce that couldn't dress the salad. The spring roll was filled with alfalfa sprouts, not mung sprouts and it tasted unpleasant. The green curry was unbalanced and also unpleasant. What was wonderful about the former Sukhothai was a chef with an excellent palate who knew how to balance Thai flavors, salty, sweet, spicy, acidic. The stuff being served now is being prepared by someone unknowing. Sorry to be harsh, but I'm disappointed. read more

This place is pretty solid spot for Thai food it was my first time coming here, I came in yesterday around noon, the place was basically empty and the service was super fast! The ambiance was really nice, I enjoyed the decor it seemed very trendy. I ordered the seafood lovers special and it was pretty good and left me full. This place was recommended to me by a good family friend who lives in the area. They said that this was the place that a lot of people go to and that we would love it. I think that she completely undersold this place. Sukhothai was a great suggestion for a hearty meal at a reasonable price. The interior design catches your eye and immediately separates you from the outside. This place would do well as a stand alone restaurant! We were greeted immediately upon entry, and were allowed to sit anywhere. The place is clean, smells like the food you are about to eat, and I forgot that it's a part of a shopping center/mall area. The service is quick, considerate, but they are not in a rush. The food is AMAZING. Their thai ice tea was creamy and definitely gave me the pick-me-up needed. I could not stop drinking it and I almost ordered one to go. The pad see ew was tasty, and I think I will ask for a replacement sauce to be added (if they have) like mushroom sauce or hoisin sauce in place of the fish sauce I asked them to take out. The tofu was cooked to perfection and it was the filling meal my wife and I needed. I wish there were more stars to give because this place not only satiated our hunger, it was a welcome delight after several other disappointing eatery options before here. Sukhothai has some of the best Thai food around: Veggie Tom Kha, egg rolls, fresh tofu spring rolls, chicken satay(and tofu satay), pineapple curry With tofu - excellent, panang curry with tofu, and panang curry with chicken, ginger tea and Thai tea. All dishes served with their housemade peanut sauce and spicy sweet sauce. We took all of our order to go to enjoy with family in Hollister. First visit here. I had the "Famous" Pad Thai with chicken. They don't velvet the chicken and it was dry, tough and chewy. The tamarind sauce was very sweet. Pad Thai is my litmus test for Thai restaurants, and I can only give it a "C" grade. The ambiance is nice, comfortable seating. Decor is showing some age but not offensive. The pineapple fried rice barely had any pineapple in it. The menu showed it served in a pineapple but perhaps you have to order that specifically? Ours just come on a normal plate. Only disappointment with the food was the pad Thai. Way too much sauce and the sweetness was overwhelming. Service was friendly and quick. No complaints there! The restaurant was nice inside. Quiet and the decor was pretty. They must have burnt some peppers though because my whole family was coughing and rubbing our eyes from the moment we walked in. It was intense. From the delicious and super reasonable lunch specials and nice dinners, we come back again and again. These may be fighting words, but this to me is the best Thai in Santa Cruz County. Let's talk about my boyfriend: masaman curry. I get it every time with chicken and ask for no zucchini. It's so flavorful and creamy and filling that I could probably eat it daily. I always pour it over rice and add chile paste to complete this heaven in a bowl. It's literally last meal worthy. The ambiance is peaceful and beautifully decorated, and I always feel I'm getting value for my dollar there. The pumpkin curry, drunken noodles, chicken skewers, and potstickers are also delicious. I have tried Sukothai a few times for lunch, and have always come away happy. This day I had a cup of their Seafood Tom Yum and a Green Papaya Salad. I lived in Thailand for 2 years as a kid and know Thai flavors and Sukothai delivers. They definitely cater to neophytes in the heat department, so next time I will ask them to kick it up a little.
