Very good food, and amazing service. We haven't come here since they changed owners a few years ago, and can't believe what we were missing. I definitely think we found a new restaurant to add to our rotation. We were seated right away, as the restaurant was not super busy, and our order was taken fairly quickly. Appetizers came out after a few minutes, and the entrees a few minutes after that. They didn't all come out at the same time, but it was within a couple minutes of each other. We got the Miso soups, meat dumplings, crunch dragon roll, California roll, and the dinner bento box. Everything looked amazing! The presentation is not skipped here, with even the California roll being dressed up a little bit. As for taste, nothing to complain about here. Everything tasted delicious and was a good portion size. Ingredients for the sushi rolls were very good quality, and along with our meal we were served two kinds of kimchi and three kinds of radishes. This place definitely isn't shy with spice, which I love as a spicy food enthusiast. Their beef bulgogi is the bento box was very flavorful, and the meat dumplings had the perfect crunch. This is a fairly new place with an awesome Korean owner. I was able to speak with him and he's very passionate about the dishes that he makes, and it shows. I've been here about three times already and the quality is on par with the Korean restaurants over the hill. It's hard to find good pho and Korean food on this side of the hill. He doesn't serve pho but just saying, it's limited here and not very good. I really hope he does good as this particular spot, the turnover rate is very high. The restaurant is huge so I can only imagine how expensive the lease is here. The interior is very inviting, clean, spacious and spread out perfectly for intimate and larger party settings. Parking is plentiful as it's shared but a lot of other businesses like a locally owned supermarket, pizza and Mexican restaurant too. I'll definitely be back as it's not too far from home. I highly recommend this spot. It's definitely a must try if you're hungry and headed home from a long day at the beach or for the locals, if you want some quality food. read more

The new spot in Scotts Valley! They have a great fusion of asian flavors that include Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. They have a sushi bar that is solid but you can also get some traditional and not so traditional Korean creations. My first visit tonight was awesome. I'll just start with why they lost the star. It was a hot July day and they were serving Soju that was almost cold and my water was refilled with warm water! Get the ice working and you have a winner! We started with 3 appetizers. The spicy edamame was awesome! Just spicy enough and loaded with flavor, a must try! The agedashi tofu was textbook, check out my video to see the dashi flakes wiggling from the hot broth's steam, yum! And my wife got the crab soup which (with a little salt) was delicious! For entrees I got the Bentley Maki and my wife got a dinner Bento Box. The Bentley was super good, the size looked intimidating to try to fit in my mouth but the thin slice was just right. A flavor explosion, yum! Her Bento was with the Scotts Valley Maki and Sweet & Sour Beef. I tried both and they were awesome, the S&S Beef was a great fusion example, try it! Overall the experience was nice, we walked out a bit overheated from the spice and warm beverages but quite satisfied. The prices are on the high side so we likely won't be here all the time but we will definitely be back. Give'em a try! read more

Jo and I have visited Far East + Kitchen a couple of times already usually to take advantage of 30% off all sushi rolls which are great (love the J's Maki roll). This visit we tried the Spicy Squid which we enjoyed through and through. The flavors were just right, it is a spicy meal but the type of spice is one that builds the more you eat. I got the bento box both times, and it was excellent. The portions are generous, the sushi is fresh, and everything is nicely presented. The prices are also really reasonable for the quality and amount of food. The service was just as good as the food. Robbie, the server, was great - friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect both times. On top of that, the restaurant itself is super clean and well-designed. The layout makes sense, and it has a nice, comfortable feel--definitely a place you want to sit and enjoy a meal. This place is a bit overpriced in my opinion. I ordered the lunch special which cost $18 and what I got was rather mediocre. The options I added for my lunch plate was the vegetable tempura and the salmon avocado rolls. The rolls were rather playing with only just salmon and avocado in it, nothing else special inside it. But the part that put me off quite a bit was the vegetable tempura. It was just a bunch of thinly sliced vegetables all fried up in little nests. Exactly what I was expecting. I was hoping to have actual full pieces of vegetables like broccoli and potato that I can dip into my tempura sauce. But instead I had a little vegetable nest all fried up. I will say that the dressing was pretty decent. But I prefer your typical miso style dressing. But that's not saying much being that it was just a rather plain salad. The service was good. The ambiance was okay as well. Other than the fact that it was a little bit loud in there because I was sitting next to a family with really loud children that were running all around. All in all, I'm a bit disappointed with how much I spent. Because I also got some Jaepchae to go. What I didn't like, and why I can only give 3 stars is the ambience. It's very basic diner-like. No effort given. I can deal with that, but then a STUPID robot was cruising around delivering food "please take your food." WTH?! I literally go out to eat so I can have a human experience. I get where we're headed in this messed up world, but keep it out of the restaurant business ! Seriously. Resist. Don't mess with the joy of dining out. That being said, the server that was there was very nice. The other thing where they epically fail is the photos on their menu. The food actually looks nasty in the photos. The photos that people posted on Yelp look appetizing, so look there first. I do intend on trying the food again, but only to go. No more robotic dining out experiences for me ! read more
