Chicken Teriyaki + Salmon teriyaki dinners + a side of California roll

Everything was EXCELLENT! We thoroughly enjoyed our food. Hubby was craving ramen and it hit the spot! Best ramen in town! My daughter ordered her favorite salmon skin roll and I tried the popcorn lobster roll. Everything was delicious! Service was SUPERB! Everyone was friendly and warm.

I was recently in town and found this small locally owned sushi restaurant with a good atmosphere and service. I had the Harumi 3. The food was amazing. I will happily go back again.

If you're looking for amazing Japanese food in Monterey County, I can't recommend Harumi's Sushi enough. I've been coming here for years, and it's consistently my go-to spot. From the moment you walk in, the hospitality makes you feel welcome, and the quality of the food speaks for itself. Their house salad with that signature dressing is seriously addictive, and the beef teriyaki stands out because they use real, high-quality steak, not something you find everywhere. And if you love sushi, you have to try the Ooh La La roll, it's easily one of my favorites and always hits the mark. Whether you're a local or just visiting the area, this is the kind of place you'll keep coming back to. For great food, great service, and a reliable, top-tier experience, Harumi's is always my first choice.

Best sushi spot in town. Always consistent! Best hot cheeto roll I've found! Good veggie options and eternal sunshine is so fresh.

Found this restaurant on yelp and decided to give it a try. We went on a weekday afternoon right at 4:50ish to find out the are closed until 5:00pm. No biggie so we walked around the plaza until they reopened at 5 PM and were promptly seated. They have a good selection of items on the menu with some specials. The hostess was very nice and attentive. The food however, was just OK. I did not particularly love my sushi roll as it had way too much cream cheese that overpowered the roll and everything else was just average. We ended up taking about half of the food to go because we didn't love how it tasted unfortunately. Normally, when the food is delicious, my husband will clean his plate. This time we found it to be a little bland and not flavorful. It was, however, fresh. The atmosphere of the place is nice however it gets pretty busy around 5:30pm. I think overall based on the yelp reviews, it was worth the try, but will continue to try out other sushi spots in the area.

The restaurant is cool. The sushi bar is cool and very popular. The dining is good as well. Our service was fine and the waitress was very friendly. I ordered the kuromayo ramen. Very good soup broth. I added chili oil to it, much better. (Had to request the chili oil) the chashu in the ramen is so good. Very well made.

Food was amazing, ambiance was great but the service was not as good. I went there for lunch to get some ME time. The lady took my order and I asked to keep the menu in case. I went to the restroom, came back and the menu was gone. I took a menu from the counter then not even 5 minutes with reviewing it, I set it down and the same lady was ready to grab it without even asking if I was done with it. I felt rushed.

Absolutely delicious casual sushi spot. I'm a huge fan of yellowtail, so I got the Megan's roll and hand roll and they were so satisfying. Service was very friendly and quick. Prices reasonable. Wish I lived closer so I could come back sooner!

visiting Monterey and craving for sushi. found this place that has a decent sushi bar. 3 sushi chefs, 1 asian chef who doesn't speak much English. most orders are run by the hispanic chef who spoke fluent english. they do have a combination of sushi rolls and other typical Japanese menu items. we don't usually order rolls as we felt it's too much rice to fill the tummy too fast. but we still ended up ordering 2 rolls, lana roll and protein roll. then we ordered a tonkatsu ramen to share at the end. the rolls were average, portion was similar to what we're used to from SoCal. price is higher but not by much. when the ramen came, hubby and I both thought it was good portion in a large bowl. lots of chashu pork belly (5 pieces). soup was very flavorful. we were surprise to see that we got charged additional $4 for extra chashu (which we didn't order but waitress's english had a strong accent so there might have been a misunderstanding?) but $4 for 5 pieces of chashu? we wondered how many pieces comes with the original order?

The sushi rolls are delicious! Great service and not too crowded. We love coming here.

We came for some ramen dinner. I ordered the miso ramen and while it looked appetizing, it felt lacking flavor wise, almost like it needed more salt. I tried my friends' tonkatsu ramen and that was delicious. Also tried their chicken karaage which was pretty good. The service is pretty fast.

Excellent food, great service, highly recommend! out family had been coming here for years

Parking was only mildly challenging, as a space opened up after only a single lap around the block. Inside here, you'll find a busy place with a few tables and individual bar-style (partitioned!) paired seating along the walls adjacent to the kitchen in the middle part of the restaurant. Order up at the self-serve order kiosks, tap in your table/counter number, and they bring out your order in a couple of minutes. We had six of us in our party, and most of us kept it simple by ordering the default Tonkatsu Ramen with different customizable options. Most all of the ingredients in this order were on point - The Chasu Pork Belly was tender, thick and delicious, ramen noodles nothing special, but generally stil on point, as were the bamboo shoots. However, the co-star/centerpiece of the Tonkatsu Ramen other than the Chasu Pork slab should be the broth, but sadly the broth was far far TOO salty which overpowered the other flavors in the broth. Chasu Pork 4.8/5, Tonkatsu Ramen 3.1/5. Service was good as everyone was hustling hard in the kitchen, along with attentive bussers/waitstaff to quickly turn tables. They take good care in wiping down the tables here. If I return, I'll just get the Paitan Ramen like I did in years past, as that seemed less salty. Then again the Paitan soup base begins with the same chicken+pork soup base as the Tonkatsu Ramen. I hope Toribashi will step back up to their former glory.

We tried the Yangyum flavor (sweet and spicy), and while it leaned more sweet than spicy, it was still absolutely delicious. Next time we'll definitely ask for a higher spice level. The Honey Garlic was also amazing--super flavorful, and the chicken itself was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and still moist and juicy inside. It could've used just a little more sauce, but honestly still so good. We also ordered the pork and veg gyoza, which were tasty, and edamame, which was good but pretty standard. I had the Spicy Tuna Roll and really enjoyed it, and my husband got the Shrimp Tempura Roll, which he said was great too. The portions are huge--we definitely had leftovers! I also got a side of white rice to go with the chicken, and it was just chef's kiss. A couple small notes: the restaurant is a little tricky to find since it's tucked into a shopping area, and the music was a bit loud for my taste. But the service was great, and when we went (around 12:30-1:00 on a Friday), it wasn't too busy, which was nice. We'll definitely be back a few more times!

After lunch at Sand Dabs, we stumbled across this really cute café, and it ended up being the perfect stop. When we walked in, the first thing we noticed was that they were making fresh taiyaki, those sweet, fish-shaped pastries. The fillings offered were red bean, Nutella, and Oreo. There's a small discount if you order two, so we started with the red bean and Nutella, and honestly, they were so good that wished we ordered the Oreo too...warm, freshly made, and really delicious. I'll admit, I've had Taiyaki desserts before and was never a huge fan, sometimes they're bland or overly sweet. These were different. Even my friend said the same thing, we were both pleasantly surprised by how good they were. We both ordered hot teas, which felt perfect for the rainy weather, and I was totally intrigued by their ramen vending machines. You pick your ramen, choose your toppings, place it in the machine, and it fills with hot water and cooks right there. A few minutes later, your bowl is ready. It felt very Asia-inspired and not something you see very often around here, especially in a café setting. This spot is the café version of their main restaurant, which I believe is on Alvarado Street (I haven't been there yet). The service was genuinely great. The guys working were friendly, patient, and took the time to explain everything to us without rushing. You could tell they enjoyed what they were doing. Because it was raining, it wasn't crowded at all, which made the experience even better. We ended up hanging out for about an hour, just chatting, sipping tea, enjoying dessert, and looking out at the water. They also carry Marianne's Ice Cream, so I'm already planning a return visit on a warmer day. And honestly, next time I'll probably try the ramen too, if only for the fun of it and all the topping choices. Parking around the wharf is paid. We parked in a nearby lot and walked over, which was pretty easy, just something to keep in mind. Overall, the vibe was fun, cozy, and relaxed. Great desserts, a unique experience, kind staff, and a really nice place to spend a rainy afternoon by the water. I'll definitely be back.

I ordered the mango matcha latte, which was a whopping $8.75 ($9.55 after tax). I gulped pressing the "pay" button; part of me wanted to swallow the doubt and see if it was any good. TLDR: it was bad. I'm not sure what the mango is made out of, but it is not smooth like a mango jam or puree. The texture is like blended up unripened mango meat. I will say, matcha taste is there, but the entire drink was just extremely sweet and there was little to no mango taste, besides chewing on the chunks in each sip. It's as if the drink was purposely made extremely sweet to hide the quality of the matcha and fruit. I tried finishing the drink since I paid nearly $10 for it but I couldn't, and had to throw the rest away. However, the worker who made my drink was kind and seems very friendly. The interior is very simple and cute, and there is a nice view of the ocean from the outside seating. I just wouldn't recommend the matcha here. Especially for what I paid for, I am pretty disappointed! :(

Not only are they a local and Yelper-favorite restaurant, but they were also listed in the exclusive Michelin Guide as recently as 2019. The Good: * Located away from the wharf and Cannery Row, so you don't have to deal with all the nonsense those two come with. * Private parking lot, as well as street parking. * Prices aren't too shabby considering the location. * Service was a bit odd, but friendly enough. * Their house-made linguini was very good and worth the extra $6 upgrade. * Veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly. * Beers on tap and in bottles, as well as wine. * I liked the flavor from the oak grill. The Meh: * Hard to complain about free bread, but just watch me. The bread was stale and not fresh at all. Even the pats of butter weren't enough to save it. * The Diablo sauce was all gas and no brakes. It needed a little sweetness and acid to complement the spice. * Carissa's penne pasta was waaayyyyyy overcooked. And so was her salmon. The Ugly: * WTF is this second menu they have? I shit you not, the poor waiter had to recite what must have been over twenty off-menu items. It was mildly amusing at first, but then you realize you're supposed to actually absorb all of this? It's got to be some kind of inside joke with the staff. No way it's real. * The clam chowder was watery and not thick at all. Not to mention, the flavor just wasn't good, and there weren't many clams. * My tuna steak was just not good. It didn't taste very fresh and had an off texture. I thought for sure I was going to get food poisoning from it, but luckily that didn't happen. Conclusion: I hate shitting on an institution like this, but it is what it is. It appears their better days are behind them, as there's probably a good reason they lost their Michelin recommendation.
