Ate at BaDa because it was the closest Korean restaurant around where we were staying. Since I was having some stomach problems that day, I got their brisket daen jang soup for $20. I feel like it's not worth the price and would recommend getting their jam pong instead. The soup was very salty, but it did have a good amount of thinly sliced meat. Our server was very nice and helpful. She was attentive in refilling waters and giving us take out boxes and utensils for our leftovers. My friends and I stumbled upon Bada after finding out there was an extremely long wait at another nearby restaurant--and honestly, it turned out to be a happy accident. This spot totally exceeded our expectations. We ordered the King Pork Donkatsu, udon, and bibimbap, and everything came out hot, fresh, and flavorful. The pork cutlet was huge--crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and perfectly cooked. I hadn't planned on finishing it, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. The bibimbap was served in a hot stone bowl, and the bottom had that ideal crispy layer of rice that adds such a nice texture. You could tell they nailed the temperature and timing on it. The udon had a clean, savory broth and chewy noodles, though I do wish it had a little more seafood to round it out. Service was great--our waiter was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The place was very casual. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was served piping hot, which made a big difference. Another plus: the parking situation. There was plenty of parking available, which is always a relief, especially since it's located in a corner lot that's easy to get in and out of. Overall, this was a great experience, especially considering it wasn't our original dinner plan. I'll definitely be back--next time, I want to try some of their other Korean dishes. We had such a great experience for lunch yesterday at Bada Kitchen! The Korean fried chicken was hands down the best we've had in Monterey--seriously 10/10. We tried the Yangyum flavor (sweet and spicy), and while it leaned more sweet than spicy, it was still absolutely delicious. Next time we'll definitely ask for a higher spice level. The Honey Garlic was also amazing--super flavorful, and the chicken itself was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and still moist and juicy inside. It could've used just a little more sauce, but honestly still so good. We also ordered the pork and veg gyoza, which were tasty, and edamame, which was good but pretty standard. I had the Spicy Tuna Roll and really enjoyed it, and my husband got the Shrimp Tempura Roll, which he said was great too. The portions are huge--we definitely had leftovers! I also got a side of white rice to go with the chicken, and it was just chef's kiss. A couple small notes: the restaurant is a little tricky to find since it's tucked into a shopping area, and the music was a bit loud for my taste. My partner and I came back to this place because we saw they had sushi rolls again and we loved them when they had them before--- and they are currently half priced right now--- so go! :) service was great and attentive, server was friendly and helpful, and can't wait to go back because they have ramen again on top of their delicious rolls like when they first opened a few years back. Okay so I'm from the Bay Area and living here I certainly feel the lack of diversity when it comes to food options. Very excited to try this place and it didn't disappoint! I will be honest with prefacing it certainly isn't the most authentic Korean food Ive had. I mean, to not get kimchi as a side is pretty weird. But all things considered it is still good! Came in on a weekday evening and the place was basically empty. Server was very friendly and tentative and we got seated quickly. Place is super clean and cool vibes. My friend and I went on Sunday around 5pm. Super clean and the restaurant was decorated nicely. Got seated right away. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. I had the honey garlic soy, bone in, chicken wings. My friend had the yangyum flavor but boneless. We both had a side of white rice. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted great, lots of flavor. I did think that the drinks were a little pricey so I just had the one. I wanted another but it adds up. It's a nope. Food came out not even close to the pictures I saw on yelp. Looks like the quality has been much downgraded from when it was just opened. Nothing is freshly made. The katsu was very dry and thin. Felt like chewing a cardboard box. We couldn't even finish them all because we just didn't want to. And the side dishes were just a joke. I would say my poor rating is for the service / food safety, not the food itself - I loved the food itself, the meats, sides and everything I have ever gotten them - both from going in person and getting take out has been great. They also are one of the only near by places with an "authentic" Korean ...corn dog? with sugar, cheese and sausage options etc. The problem was that they have these Korean pancakes on their dessert menu that DO NOT LIST THAT THEY HAD PEANUTS IN THEM - and I have a deathly peanut allergy. I was lucky to taste it early on and take medicine for it (though I was basically knocked out/not able to do anything the rest of the day). But it is not listed on the menu or anywhere and I feel like it's a pretty common allergy. They did give me a different dessert that I could eat as soon as I told them that I couldn't have peanuts but also they totally still charged us for all of our desserts - not very classy or service forward of them I would say. For that reason, I hesitate to continue to support their business, despite their good food. 2024/07/09 We tried this place out since it's a new Korean restaurant in the area, lured in by reviews saying kpop is always playing in the background. The vibe seems like a homey restaurant with Totoro playing in the background on the big screen but the menu has non traditional items like cheese buldak chicken. Everyone else ordered pretty standard meals (dolsot bibimbap, tofu soup, jjampong) and was pretty satisfied with their meal. Someone ordered yangyum chicken for the table to share and it was decent. The sauce was not coating the chicken as I've come to expect it, but drizzled over. Banchan (kimchi, potato, japchae) only came with some of the dishes, not for the whole table. It was also decent. I decided to try the trendy food (cheese cutlet) and regretted it. The rice came separately but was served last, so I waited. The cheese cutlet itself was not bad, but extremely dense and heavy on the stomach. The salads were supposed to balance out the heaviness of the cutlet, but were just too strong. The macaroni salad tasted straight up like relish. The service was slow, but I'll chalk it up to new restaurant finding their footing. The restaurant may look small from the outside, but once you're inside, it feels spacious and comfy with its high ceiling and trendy decor. My girlfriend and I ordered way too much food, but we wanted to get the full experience We started with the Fried Mandoo along with the Honey Garlic fried chicken and Yangyum fried chicken. The Mandoo was crispy and the pork stuffing was delicious. You can easily tell that it was homemade. The Yangyum fried chicken stole the show. It tastes sweet, tangy, and has a nice kick from the gochujang. We are getting the full order of that next time. For the entrees, we order the Daeji Bulgogi, Ra Bok Gi, and Omel-Rice. The Bulgogi was our favorite. The meat was very flavorfulful, had some heat, and cooked to perfection. The Ra Bok Gi are the sautee rice cake in spicy sauce with fish cake and Korean ramen noodles. It was full of flavors and perfect to go along with our drinks. The Omel-Rice was very unique, Omelette style egg covered over fried rice topped with their house sauce that had a rich and velvety texture. It was massive and delicious! Our server Sofia worked really hard handling all the tables. She was attentive and kept checking on us if we were good. I I really appreciate her hard work. Overall, this restaurant is a must try when you are in Seaside. I believe the style of food is perfect for this town since it's always pretty cool. It was, without exaggeration, some of the worst bulgogi I've ever had. To make matters worse, shortly after dining there, I became extremely ill. This experience went from unpleasant to outright concerning. Whether it was due to food handling or ingredient quality, it's clear there are serious issues in the kitchen. Stopped by here on a Saturday evening at 6pm with 3 of my friends. It was a busy night probably because there was only 1 server. We got there just before the crowd arrived so we did not have to wait. We felt bad because she was trying to handle all the tables on her own plus any of the door dash orders coming thru. Door dash people were coming to pick up orders that were not ready and she was waiting on the cooks to finish up the orders for the tables as well. You can tell the cooks looked overwhelmed. But my 2-star rating is because of the food. I definitely eat a lot of Korean food and, while I totally understand different restaurants have their own different recipes and cook it differently, we were highly disappointed. The only thing that was okay was the fried chicken. You can't really mess up fried chicken though. We ordered a lot of other dishes..lacking much flavor, some dishes were overcooked and almost mushy consistency. Besides the fried chicken we ordered the Seafood pancake (which was okay), the Daeji Bulgogi, brisket bulgogi, spicy chicken, japchae mandoo. It was so bad, we did not finish our food nor did we take it home for leftovers.
