I've heard about Ho-Wah from fellow Yelpers for years and finally decided to take a trip over on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Marina. I came in around 5pm for dinner service and was quickly seated. The wait staff were very friendly. They recommended the salt and pepper chicken (which I got the salt and pepper fish and wings). Kudos to Ho-Wah for giving me all-flats for wings without even asking! I did ask for a small side of steamed rice which they normally do not serve with the entree. The chicken was a little overcooked, and the fish a little soft. The seasoning and spices were good. I did add the hot sauce that came on the side which elevated the food. We love the food at Ho Wah. I finally tried the salt and pepper chicken and oh my goodness it is so delicious! My mother-in-law and I usually share the lemon chicken, which is also very delicious! I also like the pork fried rice and they're so accommodating ordering it the way I like it with extra egg. The service provided at the restaurant is always great. The welcoming ambience is very nice. I will definitely be going back for some more salt and pepper chicken or go with more people next time so I could have both the salt and pepper chicken and the lemon chicken. I found that in general, I agree with Rob U's review. Food tended to be oily and bland. Some dishes were also really small. The customer service was great and the staff is interesting to talk to. People looking for reviews should be reading thoroughly and also reading the unrecommended section of reviews. This particular business has methods to push a lot of reviews to unrecommended, but a real human being (not ai; not overseas customer support) would be able to see the consistency in complaints and types of complaints. read more

I ordered the dinner special, my son got the shrimp fried rice. My dinner special included 2pc fried prawns, egg roll, BBQ pork fried rice & pork chow mein. The fried rice has good flavor and I loved that it didn't have any peas or carrots but it needed some soy sauce during the cooking process to give it the traditional fried rice look and flavor. The chow mein was delicious but lacked the crunch that come from fresh bean sprouts. I was unimpressed by the egg roll, it was bland and the veggies lacked flavor. My sons fried rice lacked the same traditional look & flavor. As a suggestion, using smaller shrimp would be economical, give more shrimp per bite and make the rice more flavorful. The service was fast and friendly. Ambiance is giving retro Chinese. The lanterns outside are a nice decorative touch. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and the Moo Shu Pork. The Moo Shu Pork was excellent overall, although the pancakes were a bit too dry to roll properly. Unfortunately, the Kung Pao Chicken was very disappointing, easily the worst we've had. The vegetables seemed wrong for the dish and were undercooked, and the sauce lacked the bold flavor and spice you'd expect from Kung Pao Chicken. It tasted more like a plain stir-fry than an authentic Kung Pao dish. Considering the small portion sizes, the prices also felt quite high. read more

There was an issue with the Chow Fun, but the lady was super nice to take it back without any additional question, and re-made another one for us. This gesture is worth 5 star plus for service. Food was just ok, cannot be compared to most Chinese restaurants in big cities. Portion was big and there was generous amount of meats and shrimps in both dishes. A big bummer is that they didn't have crisp chili oil like most Chinese restaurants. They take card but do prefer cash. Store looks clean with nice decoration. read more

I've only been here once but I enjoyed the atmosphere. The wonton soup is delicious. I recommend it, though I would have enjoyed some ginger to add to the delicious flavor. Fast and friendly to-go service. I ordered from here an hour before closing, just make sure you're there to pick up the order before they close. They like to shut down service on time. I picked up veggie friend rice, garlic chicken, and chicken stir fry noodles. Their fried rice is delicious, it's very different from any version I have had and it was loaded with veggies. Garlic chicken had a slight spice to it but nothing crazy, the sauce was delicious. Big soft noodles and lots of veggies came in the stir fry, this was the only dish that was lacking flavor to me. It needed a splash or two of soy sauce. Oddly enough, the noodles were much better the next day and cold straight out of the fridge. No soy sauce, hot sauce or hot mustard was given in the to-go bag. Definitely would recommend. 10/10. The Mongolian Beef was so savory with a touch of spicy. The chicken chow mein was good and even better dipped with the Mongolian sauce. The beef and broccoli was stewing in its on sauces which was good on its own and the potsticker are made fresh with a thick dough. All around amazing I had to write a review. This is now my favorite Chinese restaurant. They do not use MSG in their food :) The service is so great and fast. Everyone is super friendly and they even gave us complimentary sesame red bean balls. We got several plates that we all shared: honey walnut shrimp, combo fried rice, seafood shanghai noodles, ginger & onion beef & the orange chicken. All were amazing and cooked to perfection!
