    Combination Chow Mein

Really enjoyed their orange chicken. Its crispy & savory. Never had orange chicken like theirs. 5/5 The combination chow mien was 2/5. Not my favorite personally. Service was great, very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And inside of the restaurant is very pretty and such a calm place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food excellent ambience recommend for a relaxing family dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They've got awesome bags for shopping reasonably priced at five dollars, [[HIGHLIGHT]]nice little bar section and plenty of drinks and kid friendly[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Seafood and fresh housemade noodles as of December 2024 (5/7).

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Clean restaurant, was seated right away, and had decent service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've had a few black bean noodles around San Jose, and this is actually the best one I've had in terms of flavor. Adding chili sauce (the one in the jar) really elavated the taste. I appreciate the noodles and sauce coming separately because I was able to bring the sauce home and have a second meal over rice. Despite that, I can see someone finding the portion rather small if they ordered this during dinner time.

Food was good, service was awesome, and overall just a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Restaurant was clean[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], too.

Food was made to order, nice and hot not overly salty. Crispy duck has lots of tiny bone, seems like it was not chop properly. Service was great but food took longer to come out as more customers came in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance of the setting more for family style.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Noise level is a little louder.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The build seems more older so when you step in you can smell the carpet smell.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

One thing to know--this place gets very busy, especially during peak hours, so be prepared for a wait. But trust me, it's absolutely worth it. The quality of the food and service makes every minute and every dollar worthwhile. My personal favorite is the fried catfish plate. It's so good that I have to order it every single time we visit! Crispy, flavorful, and always cooked perfectly. If you're looking for great food, excellent service, and a restaurant that's worth the wait, this is the place. Highly recommended!

We decided to get the large bbq chicken and grilled chicken plates with the fried rice option. My friend added veggies to her bbq chicken plate and we each added a shrimp egg roll. Our food came out very fast and we laughed at the generous portions. Thomas made sure we had everything we needed and we had an assortment of sauces on the table to spruce up our dishes to our liking. All in all the food is good but wouldn't say we were wowed. The bbq chicken was both our favorites and I highly recommend that dish! The service was excellent, Thomas did everything right! The ambiance is low key, kind of has a hole in the wall feel, super casual. My one complaint is that the floors are SUPER slick and a major fall hazard. They have floor carpets everywhere to probably help with that but the tile sections are small death traps. (Yikes)

Starting with the yellow curry, this was one of the best dishes we ordered along with the soup! The curry had great flavor from the cumin and turmeric curry paste, and came with potatoes, carrots, yellow onions, and chicken. The sauce was rich, flavorful, and perfect with a side of rice to soak everything up. Portion size was generous enough to share as well. The only downside was that the chicken was unfortunately a bit dry. The BBQ beef was the biggest disappointment in my opinion. The beef was marinated with lemongrass and black pepper and had a nice grilled flavor, but the meat itself was very dry and not worth ordering again. The pad Thai was decent overall. It came with Thai rice noodles, stir-fried eggs, bean sprouts, onions, and sauce, and we ordered it with steak. The flavor was almost there and still enjoyable, but the dish leaned on the dry side which held it back a bit. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The ambiance was clean, quiet, and peaceful, exactly the relaxing atmosphere you would expect from a Thai restaurant.

We also tried the crab rangoons, and wow... it was my first time having them and I absolutely loved them. For our mains, my friend and I ordered the orange chicken and the chicken & shrimp pad thai. Just to note, this is only my second time trying Thai food, so I'm still exploring the cuisine. That said, the orange chicken didn't really stand out for me, I've had better elsewhere, and it lacked flavor (2/5). The pad thai was also a bit disappointing. It tasted pretty bland, like it needed more seasoning, and I didn't really notice any shrimp. I'd rate it around a 2/5 as well. On the positive side, the service was amazing. There was a sweet older man who was very attentive and kind, which really made the experience better. The ambiance was also nice and comfortable. Overall, while some dishes didn't hit for me, I'd still come back to try other items and definitely get the Thai tea again!

From the outside, it doesn't look like much, and inside it's tiny tiny. maybe 6 to 8 tables total. Honestly, it could use some updates or a bigger location, but don't let any of that fool you. The second you walk in, you get that old-school family restaurant feeling. The kind of place that's been around forever, where the same family is working every shift and knows half their customers by name. No room for a Togo box hidden storage, no trendy décor, just people focused on making great food and taking care of their customers. The owner was incredibly kind and even brought us a complimentary order of their veggie rolls to try. They were absolutely delicious and such a thoughtful touch that made us feel genuinely welcomed. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Every single thing we ordered was packed with flavor, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Not one dish disappointed. It's the kind of restaurant that reminds you why local family-owned spots are worth supporting. If you're looking for fancy, this isn't it. If you're looking for some of the best food around in the Monterey area, this place is a 10/10 and well worth the visit. Don't judge this place by its location or appearance, the food speaks for itself.
