It's right up the street from my apartment so I order it over the phone, walk up there, tie my dog up outside (who is happy to wait patiently as he knows they yummy bites he's gonna get), and go in to get it. I've been sampling Chinese spots and decided to try this one. I ordered over the phone. The customer service was kind. I asked for an opinion on appetizers and was swayed to the pot stickers. My main dish was Mongolian beef. The prices rival Chef Lee's and Lucky Bamboo. The beef, however not greasy , was not spicy as quoted on the menu and not favorable. Total cost: $50 (w/ tip) They do not serve boba (the guy upfront said they stopped serving boba once COVID hit) anymore, but they offer it on a dry erase board right up front... The ambiance of this place is pretty sad. One side of the restaurant is completely dark and the other side is very dim, not a romantic dim, but dreary. Most of the people who came in took takeout. Lemongrass tofu - sounds great right? A better description would be lots of overcooked green bell peppers and some deep fried to death cardboard flavored tofu. Stingy on the lemongrass. But I took it home, threw away the peppers, blanched some carrots and sugar snap peas, added garlic, crushed red peppers, and some soy sauce, and voilà, I made a decent dinner out of this disappointment. They are quick and I've gone there twice to order and take out. But something in their food makes me sick. I think it might have been left out too long. The taste was just so-so. I had just a little bit but the texture was off so I decided to throw the rest out. Yet I still got sick (vomiting.) I got Chow mein with shrimp. Thinking it could be a one time think, I went a 2nd time. I got shrimp with something else like rice. The food was also the same bad quality and it made me sick. It was late and the restaurant was darkened. The man wasn't friendly but I think they probably wanted to close up. 1st of all let me say the food is extremely good. I ordered 5 items off the menu based on the screenshots of the menu on Yelp. I expected my bill to be around $50. When I went to pick it up, the bill was actually $70. I contacted the owner or whoever it was that answered the phone and I told them that it was very deceiving to go on their website and see these prices and then to be charged differently. He told me that he doesn't have a website and the information that's on the Internet is not his information and that he has tried many times to contact Yelp to change the prices and he says that he is not able to. I told him it's clearly a bait and switch, which is a shame because his food is so good, but I will not patronize a business that deceives people with their pricing. An item that shows on Yelp to be $9.95 is actually $15.95. That's a big difference. Shame on this Restaurant. read more

Maybe it's the privilege of having grown up in the 626 for American Chinese food, but everything tasted incredibly over sweetened and lacked spice.The mapo tofu was more savory then spicy (and had peas!?!?). The twice cooked cooked pork had an off flavor (the rice wine was probably not cooked out correctly). The hunan chicken has chilies but had no spice.The hot and sour soup wasn't too bad. We were greeted when we came in around 2 PM one weekday afternoon. It was well past the business hour so the place was quiet. We both had Szechuan Green Bean Chicken that was on the day's special posted on the blackboard by the front counter.The lunch arrived in a very timely manner, not more than 10 minutes. We were served egg drop soup right away. Then the lunch plates were served not long after, freshly cooked and steaming. The sauce was light and fresh and the chicken was nice and garlicky. We also ordered tea and were surprised to find it not arriving in a metal teapot but in two large white porcelain coffee mugs. Actually that was a great idea, there was plenty of tea, it tasted like jasmine, and it was very good. In some Chinese restaurants the metal teapots are old and beat up from so much use and they can dribble or leak, so after we got over the surprise of the mugs, we really appreciated them. The restaurant was clean and the service timely. The only thing I would add is that if you are going north on Fremont to get to the restaurant there is that huge pedestrian/bicycle divide in the middle of Fremont street, so you have to drive beyond the restaurant and then make a U turn. We chose to take the Del Monte/Canyon Del Rey exit off Hwy 1 north, and follow Canyon Del Rey to Fremont, turn right and the restaurant was only one block away on the right. That was easy. This is a nice neighborhood restaurant and there was plenty of parking. Definitely recommended. read more
