I really wanted to love this place -- the food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and our server, Gabriella, was initially attentive. We had a reservation, were seated on time, and truly enjoyed ourselves for the first hour. I want to give credit where it's due. Toward the end of our meal, I ordered a hookah -- and only then was I told by Gabriela that our reservation was limited to two hours, and that if we wanted to stay for the hookah, we'd need to move to the bar. She also stated that if I ordered a hookah, I wouldn't be able to finish it because she would have to rush us out of the table. At that point, we had only been there for one hour. I said that was fine, even though I had no idea there was a two-hour limit -- it's not posted anywhere in the restaurant, and it's not listed on OpenTable. I agreed with the understanding that it's a business, we were done eating since we had ordered a lot of food, they need the table, but that she would also make sure to accommodate us at the bar. She mentioned that there was only one seat available at the moment, but said she'd ask the bartender if someone was about to leave soon so we wouldn't be left without a seat. Then she asked if I wanted to close out the check -- I agreed, trusting that she would come back after checking on the seating. But she never did. Instead, Gabriela began actively avoiding eye contact and serving other tables around us. After waiting and feeling increasingly uncomfortable, we finally just got up and left. I stopped her on the way out to explain how I felt -- that she said she'd come back and didn't, and that from my perspective, it felt like we were kicked out after paying. She claimed she thought I was going to find my own seat at the bar, which is not what she originally said. The worst part is that this all happened after such a good experience. It was my friends birthday! It left a bad taste -- not because we couldn't stay longer, but because we were disregarded and dismissed without clarity or follow-up. That moment changed everything. I can't in good faith recommend this place, because I would be mortified if any of my friends were treated the way we were. Hospitality matters just as much as the food -- and unfortunately, that was lacking when it counted. read more

I went on a Wednesday for happy hour and the prices didn't seem to be discounted much. The servers and bartenders weren't very friendly or personable. Our calamari was undercooked and the sauce was just okay. The sushi was mediocre at best. The place is pretty small so if you do go try and get there early. They do have live jazz on Wednesday's but I personally don't see what the hype is about. There's other places with better sushi, prices, and vibes! I likely wouldn't go back. My wife and I came here for Happy Hour which they also do on Sunday after the Kennedy Center. We got a mix of appetizers, sushi, and poke as well as a variety of 3 cocktails and a beer on the happy hour menu we both loved. The food is pricy but with happy hour we saved quite a lot. They also take InKind which you can save money on too especially with the Costco gift cards. The service was very friendly as well. The decor is quite modern and swanky. The concierge at the Jefferson recommended this place. Came here Sunday night. We started with edamame and kale salad. Edamame was perfect. The salad had too much vinegar. Then we got the mixed sashimi plate. Very good and very fresh. We also ordered more for after but it came quickly! We got the Hamachi yellowtail tiraditos. It was delicious but a bit too spicy for me. We also got the Tuna (tokushina maguro) tiraditos and they were good. The Tenno roll was the show stopper. That was one of the best rolls I've had in a long time. I will return just for that roll. We ended with Mochi ice cream in three flavors. Yummy! Service was ok. Loved the ambiance. This is one of these restaurants we've wanted to try for a while but every time we were in the vicinity it's always during lunch and they only serve dinner - from 4, HH from 5-6 pm. This time made a special trip and got there for early dinner. The place has a night club feel, dimly lit inside, with an impressive looking bar and decor has a lot of black and gold and mirrors. There are several sections each Up a couple of steps, and now they also have a front patio running the length of the street. Food is pretty good, we had cerviches, spicy rolled sushi, fried calamari, fried chicken dumplings (very small dry fried dumplings pricy for the portion). They don't use paper menus anymore so you need to scan a code for the menu - wifi Is available with password. They also apply a fee (about 4%) if not paying cash. read more

I stopped by here for happy hour drinks and food yesterday before an event in Georgetown. The atmosphere is ok. It's very dark and not really my style. Not saying its bad, just didn't suit me. The bar service was pretty good. I had to wait a little while to get served as the Manager was educating the bartenders on some stuff. I felt he could've waited until I was at least served a drink first. For a cocktail I had the Umami, which was pretty disgusting. I thought it was a glass of water when it came out and the flavor was pretty gross. The Lychee Martini was solid. For food, the Special Poke was delicious and only around $17. When I buy a Poke Bowl at a Poke place I pay about double so this is a good deal. The Ceviche Mixto was also pretty good. I know I do and because I'm a sushi lover, this upscale sushi restaurant hit the spot! Ambience is extremely important to me and Susheria definitely has that covered and then some. This place is modern with cool tunes playing inside and out to add to your dining experience! For a minute there, I thought I was in the City that never Sleeps..lol. With reservations, we were seated immediately eventhough the restaurant was packed. I wish other restaurants in the DMV would take note!! The food was outstanding! We had calamari as an appetizer. For dinner, we had the Sebastian Roll (Shrimp and Crab), The Buenos Aires Roll (Crab and Salmon) and my favorite, the Trio Roll (Shrimp, Lobster and Crab). The sushi was so loaded that regretfully we could not finish it all. The drinks and service were top notch, with constant friendly attention throughout our meal. I was between 3-4 out of 5, because we were happy with the drinks and food, but service was really poor and slow. As in we actually had to walk up to the bar and place our order for drinks because the server was nowhere to be found. However, what spiraled downward for me was the fact that for simply a party of 2, they automatically charged a gratuity of 20%, without even letting us know about it in advance. Luckily, I caught it and I took it up with them and they apologized and removed it. I just think that that's ridiculous given how terrible the service was and legally, they cannot do that either. I really hope that they can revise their sketchy way of business because I believe they have potential as an establishment, but not quite there yet. read more

Food was okay, service was worse. Setting is calming with dim lighting but music did not match the setting at all. It took us about 10-15 minutes to get seated with a reservation. It took another 10-15 mins to get service that was after flagging down the manager. He then asked if he could get us drinks but we hadn't even seen a menu- of course it's online and we had to search it up ourself. He could've avoided the awkward tension by offering to go over some of the famous drinks while we pulled up the menu. Instead he just offered to "come back" after knowing we had been sitting unattended for a while. When we finally ordered the server made a remark as if we ordered a lot of food "you will probably not need anymore food after this" who gets to say? Am I eating too much food for you? Is this not a restaurant? I'm confused. They offered us a free dessert but I wasn't interested plus nothing was listed on their online menu. So to avoid wasting my breath we just called it a night. Service: Can I take a moment to celebrate Iisly for her high level of service and hospitality. From start to finish, Iisly was informative, descriptive with every dish, and super funny and friendly. We waited 20 minutes just to be seated, and once we finally sat down, we waited another 20 minutes before we had to get up and track down a worker just to place our order. Solid place for Nikkei-Peruvian cuisine. They have good selections of sushi, and while they're priced high, the happy hour deals do make this place place a reasonably-priced. The ceviche here is good, having had both the ceviche mixto and the tuna nikkei (which isn't too different from the tuna tataki you might get elsewhere). The Sebastian roll was also very good, with tempura crab stick, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, pickle radish, spicy mayo & eel sauce.
