He is right down the street, accepts my insurance, and his staff was able to help me out when this office closed so abruptly. Dr. Homesley is an excellent optometrist, and a very warm and friendly person. I appreciate the exceptional standard of care for my eyes that I've received in her office for more than six years. I haven't needed new glasses every year, but this year I did, and it is wonderful to have such high quality transition (protects my eyes outside), progressive (great for close range and distance viewing) eyeglasses with UV and blue light protection. read more

Dr. Homesley is a very friendly and thorough optometrist. I have been going to her for more than 6 years. This year, I received a reminder postcard for an annual exam. I called for an appointment and was asked to select from two times available on the date I chose (about 3 weeks later.) When I arrived, the receptionist said that she had no record of an appointment for me at either of the times and seemed quite cold and uncaring about their mix-up.; didn;t offer an alternative date or time. Sadly, it was NOT like my experiences in the past. Dr Holmesley had suggested that I see an opthomologist due to what she suspected was a cataract---it was and I had it operated on. Perhaps, because I did not purchase glasses from them last year (due to upcoming eye surgery) they don't care about continuing with my patronage. read more

In my 54 years of breathing on this planet I have never been treated as poorly as when I entered this, hell, hole in the wall. I was judged by my attire, my disability, my medication choices and my speech ftom the get go. They attempted to gaslight me by pretending my appointment was 2 hours earlier because aparently I was not the class of clientelle they desired. (54, nearly crippled, parkinsons, seizures, ocational dementia) yep total trash. May none of you yelpers ever be treated as poorly as this office attempted to treat me. Don't worry though when I caught them ganging up on my caretaker I gave them an earfull of flying cusses and all the disrespect those kind of people deserve. My family and I have been going to Dr. Homesley for over 40 years. All six of our kids have been her patients and now she is seeing our grandchildren. I have never been to another optometrist and never plan on changing. I have heard horror stories from friends who have gone to other optometrist's and had to go back several times because of wrong prescriptions. Dr. Homesly's exams are very thorough and my glasses are always perfect. I just recently had my exam and everyone in her office makes you feel so welcome from the moment you walk in the door. My sister-in-law was in her office last week waiting for a friend and a couple that she knows, who recently moved to Idaho, came in for their appointments. They said it is definitely worth the drive for them to see Dr. Homesley. I was telling one of her assistants that and she said yes they have customers from several states that come back for their yearly exams! We are very fortunate to have Dr. Susan Homesley in Ramona! This was my first visit to Dr. Homesley. I decided to keep my business in Ramona. After spending over $500 I requested a copy of my prescription. When I looked at it I noticed it did not included the PD which is Pupillary Distance, the distance between the pupils. When I asked about it the receptionist told me that under California law she was not allowed to provide me with this information. I researched the California law. That is a flat out lie. It would be like your Dr ordering blood tests but refusing to provide you with the results! It is ludicrous. For what I paid I should be provided with ALL of results of the examination. It belongs to me, not Dr Homesley. read more

Come for glasses, but not contacts. I went in for my routine exam and to update my contact and glasses prescription. I haven't seen Dr. Homesley since 2014 because I was away at college, so I brought in my current contact prescription (PWR -5.50) that I received about a year ago from Costco. Once my trials came in, I found that they were weaker (PWR -5.25) than the contacts I had when I walked in! It turns out my current prescription was ignored when I first came in, and instead, they used what was on file from 2014 (PWR -4.75). I tried to explain this to Dr. Homesley, but she refused to budge. My prescription that I came in with was fine, and I just needed to order more, but it was expired. Dr. Homesley explained that my prescription was currently PWR -5.75, but contacts had to be brought down because they sit on my eyes where glasses don't. I get this, but why reduce the perception that has worked great for me for two years now...? The tipping point was at my physical two days after receiving my trials. My eyesight with my trial contacts was 20/70! Yeah, I knew it wasn't good. Anyway, I found that I could renew my prescription online for $20 through 1800-Contacts, so I went that route. $20, no appointment, and a few hours later, I was able to order my contacts. On the other hand, my new glasses prescription from Dr. Homesley is excellent! read more

We had the pleasure meeting Dr. Homesley unexpectedly. I called on a Friday morning to see if my Fiance would be able to be seen that day for an eye irritation. We made an appt for 4pm. Turns out, my Fiance had metal shavings in his eye, Dr. Homesley removed the metal, gave him antibiotic eye drops and made a follow up appointment for Monday. We were always greeted happily, seen on time and the cash price was less than what we expected! Great customer service...the receptionist also said, if any time we had an emergency on the weekends, call the office, listen to the entire message and at the end is her cell phone number. I want to give a big thank you to Dr Homesley! My son got poked in the eye with a stick late Friday afternoon, and we were worried about damage. Dr Homesley came back into the office after having left for the day & took the time to check my son's eye. Lucky for us, as he had 2 lacerations on his cornea. Dr Homesley had the meds he needed on hand, and saved us a trip to urgent care, down the hill opthalmologist, ect. She has taken amazing care of our family & I am so grateful for her & her staff. read more

I have been misinformed TWICE now by this office and it has wound up costing me $140. The first was in June/July of 2019 when I was getting new lenses put into my glasses. I SPECIFICALLY asked about how it was going to be billed with my insurance and what my insurance would cover. I was told one thing by one person. Well, turns out I was misinformed during my initial visit and I had to pay $100 for the new lenses, when I could have received an entirely new set of glasses for that price in the first place (the reason I had opted for just the lenses was because I was under the impression my insurance would cover it and had clearly stated that during my visit). Well, now I went to order contacts. I was initially informed I had $150 to use on contacts in a 12 month period and that it would be divided between two purchases. NOPE. It had to be used all at once, so I had a remaining balance of $40 that just went entirely to waste because this I can't seem to get accurate information from the people helping me there. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. I'll be saving more of it by doing so. read more

I've been coming to Dr. Homesley since I was 15. She's fantastic. She used to work with special needs children, so I've brought my son in to see her as well. She's very thorough and knowledgable. They have Saturday appointments for the locals who work during the week. I have never had a more thorough eye exam. I've recently got an eye exam i usually went to Kaiser but i wanted a second opinion, Kaiser usually took 15-20 mins with me and told me to come back in 4 years. When i Went to Dr Homesley the eye exam took an hour and half and i need glasses. I would recommend her to everyone! She is great! And so is her staff! read more

Dr. Homesley is very personable. Did an exam for me and the glasses came back wrong; she re-did the exam and changed the prescription but the glasses were still wrong. Her office refunded my insurance for the lenses and frames but refused to refund the exam. At the time I left the office and asked for the refund, they assured me that the insurance would be refunded. Now they say that I misunderstood because they only refund the glasses not the exam, but I am the one stuck with no glasses and a debt to a new optometrist. Dr. Homesley's office asked to see the new prescription. I asked if the prescription was different would they refund the exam and they said they would not. Dr. Homesley does not stand behind her work. Beware - she got it wrong twice and left me out of the ability to use my insurance for an exam from a competent doctor. read more
