Dr Bloomberg is amazing. Explained in detail everything going on with my eyes. As a diabetic I need yearly tests for glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. He explained I had severe dry eyes and gave me a plan to help. It's been 2 months and having had eye pain for years, I no longer suffer. I now use Oasis artificial tears (preservative free), OcuSoft eyelid scrub and warm wet compress on eyes everyday. My eyes never felt better. He did not try to sell me glasses I don't need or talk me into surgery I don't need. One opthamologist even tried to put a needle in my eyes and wasn't giving me anytime to even think about it so I walked out. Give Dr Bloomberg a try. You will be very happy you did. read more

Went for eye exam, which was reasonably priced. Doctor gave me prescription for distance glasses and reading glasses. I then bought 3 pairs of glasses online: far, near and far sunglasses. I am happy with the eye exam, since with glasses my eyesight is very sharp for both near and far. I am also happy with the service. read more

The optometrist was professional and no complaints! But when I went to look at glasses in their showroom, it was a nightmare. The employee helping me was overwhelming. She talked constantly, hovered over me, and gave an opinion although I didn't ask When I'd chosen a pair, she was chaotic. I had to remind her to check my pupil measurements. I have been a patient for over 10 years and have spent thousands of dollars here . Up until my last experience , I would have told you this place was the best! I like Dr. Bloomberg and his talent and skill. He makes you feel very comfortable and takes an interest in you as a patient. I was always very pleased with my glasses, the service and his professionalism . I have referred many people here who were not happy with their glasses. I go every January when my benefits kick in. This year I didn't make my annual appointment and the office staff called to remind me and schedule. I explained I'm still dealing with a very expensive pair of glasses from last year that do not work. They were brought back in multiple times to be corrected( they were not right from my first try). This had never happened to me before so I kept going back ( 40 miles one way ). When I finally had to call them after six weeks with no glasses , I was told my glasses were sitting there not corrected because they did not know whose glasses they were. I asked for a call from the Dr. I never got that call back . Maybe he wasn't told or maybe they don't need customers . It's to bad because he's a great doc with a great selection of solutions. Dr Bloomberg was extremely informative and patient, answering all the questions I had about my vision, and he finally was able to help me with the headaches I was having with previous glasses I have been wearing. I have been there twice. First time I waited 45 minutes past my appt time to get service. This time 20 minutes past appt time. We made appt a month ago. I heard the girl who fitted glasses, take a woman ahead of us who had squeezed her in yesterday 15 min before my appointment. Which made me have to wait 20 minutes. Very disappointed. Had them take my wife and Fit her. I cancelled my appt. Two times they have done this. They also billed Medicare for items I was told I had to pay for last time and they billed Medicare twice and was turned down. I had already paid cash for this. I don't like the idea that Medicare is being taken advantage of. I will go elsewhere from now on read more

Loved, loved, loved my experience here! My daughter is 5 and I wanted to take her to a doctor who worked with kids as I knew this wouldn't be an easy experience for her. Dr. Bloomberg was great! He explained everything to her so she knew what he was doing and she felt at ease. He was so patient with her too. He will be our new eye doctor for sure! He also was very prepared with the pandemic. We had to sanitize our hands as we entered. My husband had to wait outside as the office was limited to 1 adult and my child. He took our temperature to be sure we weren't sick. He disinfected all the equipment as we watched. I don't have vision insurance but the exam, frames, and transition lenses were very affordable. I definitely recommend Dr. Bloomberg. read more

I went to Dr. Bloomberg and he seemed well intentioned enough...seemed to care about my eye care and the issues I had with chronic dry eyes. The receptionist / office manager, Silvia, is a completely useless though. There were way too many mistakes with my eye glass AND contact lens order for it to be all a coincidence. First, my eye glasses. When I left, she said she'd put in the order for my glasses and that they should come in about two weeks. Almost 3 weeks later, no call. I called to follow up and she said that it was on its way and that with the holiday weekend, it was caught in the mail system, but that it would arrive by end of the day or tomorrow, the latest. Two days pass, no call. So again, I call to inquire and she says that she'll have to "look into it" and call me back. No call. I finally got a hold of her a few days later, and she says that for some reason, the order was never placed. (What??? Couldn't she have checked on the status and come up with that answer a week or two ago?). Finally, she places the order and a week later I call...she says "sorry, but one of the lens came in w/ the wrong prescription."....more waiting... Next, I ordered new contact lens....they gave me a trial pair that wasn't exactly the prescription I needed. When my lens came in, again, one lens was not right...so another reorder and wait. I have since moved to San Francisco and my new doctor sent in my HIPAA to request my old vision records...2 months later, Dr. Bloomberg's office still has not sent any of my records. I just found out that they did receive my formal request of records and they just ignored it...or lost / misplaced the request...just like they forgot to place my eyeglass order... I have NEVER experienced so many blotches with my vision care in my life. My recommendation to Dr. Bloomberg is to better train the staff so that they are competent. I have been going to DR. BLOOMBERG for 2 years now I have real bad vision and use a special type of contact which is a hybrid soft and hard contact and difficult to fit. Well first year went well this year not to well I have been left with pain and discomfort because he could not get the right fit the first time that was about 3 months ago and was told they would try a different fit and would let me know when it came in NOTHING ! I called and asked and was told they would call me back that was a month ago ! I will never go back to them as they don't care about there patients I will be stuck with one pair of contacts that are not comfortable till next year when my insurance renews even though I have eye pain I would rather take my business else where that care about there patients. read more

I have never felt more comfortable at an optometrist office than here. I'm used to going to offices that have 6 doctors or more or a LensCrafters, so it's nice to know that the doctor I plan to see will be the one. I've been going here for almost two years now and Dr. Bloomberg is great at explaining any issues and non-issues or small things he might notice. I like the fact that if I ask a question about my eyes or contact recommendations, he's truthful about it. He is super thorough during his exams and won't recommend anything that's not necessary. It is easy to schedule an appointment with him as there was one time I had an eye infection and they took care of me right away. He figured out the problem and fixed it that day and got the prescription I needed. He gives me tips on how to care for my eyes better to ensure they are always healthy. Emalyn and Amy are a great team of opticians. They are always so cheerful and willing to help. Even when it gets busy, they greet every patient with a smile. Rosie (who doesn't work there anymore) used to give great advice for what looks good on my face, but my go-to is now Emalyn. She's honest about her opinion and definitely knows her styles according to your face shape and what compliments it. Well I have to give another 5 star review to Dr Bloomberg and his staff!!! Both my husband and I received our annual exam and ordered new glasses. They have a great selection of the current styles and are so great helping to pick out the perfect frames for our face shape. My husband had problems with a pair from last year and found they were defective and they were covered under warranty. All our ordered glasses turned out perfect! I trust Dr Bloomberg and he spends a lot of time on the exam and doesn't rush through. He makes sure he gets the prescription right. Up until my recent series of visits I would have rated Poway Vision much higher. But my frames broke, that were under warranty, the replacements are on back order so they told me I had the option to bring them in to swap into a different colored frame. Which I did. However about half the time the "right" staff is in to help me. Now the frames don't stay in my face and I am getting nowhere quickly. When you pay hundreds of dollars for glasses they should work. When a business is open their staff should be trained to help their customers. I now have my prescriptions in hand and will be going elsewhere. read more

Dr. Bloomberg is a great OD and I enjoyed being treated under him. He was kind and caring. He even saw me for little check-ups to make sure my eyes were running smoothly. However, his receptionist Silvia I did not care for. She never returned my calls even telling me she would call me back in an hour. She pressures you into buying or being re-examined regardless of insurance or your financial situation. I felt I was given a hard time. She also lets you know that you are not priority giving an excuse that you have to wait while she does paperwork, even though there were no other patients in the room. Have been going to this practice for about 5 years now and it is great. Dr. Bloomberg is extremely thorough and explains everything. The staff and optician are equally helpful and very professional. What I love the most is that I hardly ever have to wait! I appreciate the community involvement and generosity to philanthropic issues as well! I almost feel like the bad ratings on here have the offices confused with someone else. The girls at the front are the sweetest! Before I even went in they ran both of my insurances and broke down EXACTLY what I would pay so there were no surprises when I got there. It started with Regina's (receptionist) happy and outgoing attitude that got me to "yes" to making that first appt! She was already eager and glad to help, having not met me or knowing what i needed. Mind you, I live in Oceanside! That alone is a 45 min drive for an eye exam. But she assured me that i would be in good hands. I come to my appt and sure enough Regina is still in a great mood. Dr. Bloomberg walks out of the exam room (which im not used to) and he personally calls me in! That already was a great attribute. He listened and cared about what I wanted and -together- we came up with what was right for me. Almost like having a personal tailor! Which is exactly what i never thought i could find. I have had to go back into the office about 6x already in a year just because they wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied with what i wanted. I am pretty picky, and they are very patient!
