I try to be fair in my reviews but this I cannot overlook. We were sent here by referral to have an eye refraction exam for my Father. Days prior I received 5 notifications to confirm appointment which I acknowledged each time. I thought that was excessive granted this was an important appointment that we had no choice to attend. I never received anything else what to bring, what is needed as we assumed eye measurement only. Anyway, accompanying my Father, she was asking many questions and he is hearing impaired. I tried to intervene a few times and she was abrupt and condescending in her words to him. We didn't bring a list of his medications and his eye medications were in the list from the referred Dr. When she asked what eye meds he was taking she asked do you wait 15 min between eye meds? My Father said no, then she immediately lectured him that it's useless and went on and on. The energy in the room changed as I felt her attitude was just simply rude. My Father waits 3-5 minutes in between per his instructions on the package. If she had listened waited for him to respond instead of lecture then he would have spoken. I tried to retrieve his medication list but this office has NO internet connection. Again, she could have retrieved the info from the referring Dr. So in comes Dr. Lee. Her bedside manner is not warm and welcoming. She looked at my Father for under 2 minutes when I was getting a call from our referring Dr which I thought might be important. I kindly asked if I can take the call and told her who it was. She had a blank look on her face and said she was "DONE" with the exam!!! BTW there is a piece of paper that says no phone calls in the room. I totally understand. However, this is the referring Dr which is giving this Dr business!! I was appalled by this behavior. I get you can be strict and controlling with calls, but again, referring Dr calling could be important and it was not a personal call!!! I did let our referring Dr know of our experience here. I also looked at the reviews after and there is a concerning pattern how others our treated with this particular team. Please treat the elderly with dignity. Kindness goes a long way!!!! read more

I really like this place. I get my eyes checked here every time I'm back home. The front desk have always been nice and accommodating to me, for example, trying to squeeze me in when my eyes were bothering me, or emailing me a record of my prescriptions. Dr. Morris (?) was my first ophthalmologist who was great. He left the practice so my new ophthalmologist is Dr. Searson, who is very very caring, warm, and thorough. She explained everything step by step. read more

I've been waiting to schedule an appointment. I work 40+ hours a week. The same exact hours they are open. It's hard for me to find time off work to schedule things like this. I've been a loyal client for over 10 years. This particular apt I was 5 min late because I had to go to work before the apt. When it was my turn to check in, the front desk woman rudely said I had to reschedule my apt Bc the next apt was 20 min early. So? This is time out of MY busy week to come in! I work in the business of supplying OPTIONS or a one time courtesy! Which they did nothing but ignore my frustration and do absolutely nothing to make the situation better. Extremely disappointed. Lost the business of myself and my family. Will not be returning. read more

I have had good experiences here. The office has an automated confirmation system which I find beneficial as a reminder. I got a phone call the day prior to my latest appointment letting me know there was a problem with my insurance on file. that's a huge plus in my book; had I gone in for my appointment without clearing up the insurance coverage, it would have been a very expensive visit and a headache to fix retroactively. So the heads up was much appreciated. It gave me time to fix the issue and they were very accommodating about re-checking my coverage. I was referred to Dr. Lillian Lee by my optometrist (I have family history of glaucoma and some suspicious eye attributes, so need to be checked every 6 months.). I have been to see her about 4 times, and the visits have been thorough and comprehensive. Dr. Lillian Lee always explains what she's watching, and I leave feeling informed about my eye health. read more

I was treated at the Poway location in 2016. I paid cash at the time of service. On 12/21/2020 a collection agency filed a report with Equifax against me for $143. My credit is now ruined over a bill from 2016 that I paid cash for when I checked out on the day I was treated. I don't know who took the cash, or why it was not posted accurately, but ruining someone's credit 4 years later over $143, during a pandemic, is really really low. You can see from the other poor reviews, that I am not the only patient who has had an issue with the way this business is being run. read more

This is a poorly ran business! I called a little over two weeks ago to book an appointment. The first time I called, I was put on hold for almost 10mins. I decided to hang up and call again after half an hour. I spoke with the same girl over the phone and finally got an appointment. I arrived at my appointment this morning only to be told I was not on the schedule and they can't fit a 20-30min eye exam until NEXT WEEK! The lady at the front desk was not helpful and did not even try to offer a solution for either her or her coworkers mistakes, and this entire patient experienxe has been extremely inconvenient since I had to take time off from work for this appointment. Avoid this place I if you value your time, there are so many other optometry offices elsewhere in north county! read more

I've been with the Poway branch for over 15 years. The doctors past and present were great! But cannot say the same for the administrative staff and assistants. My prescription eye drops took almost a month to be approved after they placed a hold. Miscommunications and lack of professionalism contributed to this. If only the staff was more friendly and accommodating. Love to stay on but forced to look around for another office near by. read more

Dr Barbara Searson was my optometrist and I was very happy to give her and this place a try. She has solved my eye misery that I had for about a year. My previous optometrist couldn't quite find the right prescription for my eyes and so we kept going back and forth trying different numbers for my contact lenses. After 3 months of trying I gave up and just using the last one I tried. It gave me dizziness whenever I had the contacts on. When Dr Barbara said my prescription should be lower, my eyes and head instantly felt great after trying the new contacts. I am so happy with it! She is a really good listener and very engaging. Also they don't use the machine that blows air into your eyes!! That was very scary to me in the past. They told me they haven't used that for a decade now, instead they use this tiny little tool to measure my eye pressure. Hello little fella, where have you been in my past 10 years? This place appreciates good technology, let's put it that way. Another person who helped me a lot was Bernard from the front! He went above and beyond to help me when my contact lens prescriptions wasn't arriving as expected and I needed them urgently for the weekend for an important conference. I will recommend people to give this place a try, you will like it just as much. read more

This is the worst communication I've ever experienced! I phoned for an appointment with an eye DOCTOR - as in M.D.! Instead they scheduled me with an opthamologist (tests vision for glasses/contacts). I had a very specific reason for requesting a DOCTOR since I was having ongoing eye problems not related to vision. I was given a prescription for glasses which I did need. I've phoned this office FOUR TIMES asking for help with something and had no response. read more

On the morning our daughter was to have our grand baby by c-section, an emergency c-section, my husband and I were startled at 5:30 am by our alarm. He jumped up and fell into a very sharp corner table, injuring his eye. His eye began to swell with blood so we rushed him to the emergency room at Pomerado hospital. The doc at Pomerado saw him and after evaluating his eye, told me to go be with our daughter, as she thought he was going to be ok. She referred him to Dr. Lillian Lee at N. County Eye Center. They took him in at 8 am, which was great. I went ahead to be with our daughter in La Jolla. When I was able, I called to give my husband an update. No answer. I called again, this time he mumbled something and hung up. I realized he was probably with the doctor so I was fine. Later, when he arrived to be with us an our new grand baby, related this story to me: "When you called, I looked at the doctor as if to ask if I could answer, as she was typing on her computer, and I decided not to answer. The second time you called I told the doctor that you and I have an agreement (because of business meetings, etc.) that whenever you call twice in a row, I need to answer, as it means no matter what, you need to talk to me. So I asked Dr. Lee if it was ok to answer. She said", 'No, you cannot answer, we are consulting. You're on my time. I know you're having your grandchild, but this is my time.'" I have never even written a Yelp review...ever...good or bad. But the absolute disregard for his/our situation and Dr. Lee's complete lack of compassion were egregious. "You're on my time"???? Really? Was the consultation FREE? Or were you being PAID to give service??? You were on OUR time!! I have considered going in to your office to tell you this face to face, but realized that others should know so as to avoid a bad interface with you. So this is to help others. Your bedside manner needs WORK...in a huge way. I would never recommend this office. I would avoid it at all cost. read more

I saw a young male doctor when I came here a few weeks ago. He had a very gentle manner about him, probably one of the best bedside manners I have ever encountered actually. The lady who helped with the glasses was also extremely kind and helpful too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the front desk lady was super annoying. She seemed super annoyed that I was there. They were not busy at all so you would think she would appreciate my business. She was impatient and just not friendly at all. She looked like she hated her job and she seemed super lazy. I feel bad saying it, but she was definitely the squeaky wheel that day. read more

I felt sick to my stomach after every visit to this office - not because of Dr. Lillian Lee's lack of technical skill, but the stress of the environment she has created. She is cold and dominating - this is her castle. Her assistant physician shows passive aggression by being downright rude to patients (me), and her staff seem to fear her. I had called before a visit to see if my eye would have to be dilated. I was told no, so I planned other appointments directly after that visit, but had to cancel them, instead, when Dr. Lee had my eye dilated. I was sitting alone in the darkened exam room, so quietly used my cell phone to cancel the appointments. Dr. Lee came in and said sternly and loudly, "No cell phones!" When I tried to explain, she walked out, slamming the door. At another visit, the doctor who works with Dr. Lee checked my vision. She was abrupt and impatient. She then walked me across the hall for Dr. Lee's exam - and stood in the corner during the entire exam, looking at the ceiling, and sighing. She looked like a child pouting for being punished! Before my surgery, Dr. Lee ordered three name-brand medicines for my eye. As her technician explained to me, they were likely to be expensive because she refused any generics. But, luckily, she could also recommend a pharmacy that had lower prices than Walmart or CVS, etc. Had Dr. Lee accepted generics like the thousands of other eye physicians listed as military providers, I could have gotten my medicine for free from the military pharmacy instead of paying more than I could afford because these meds are also not covered by insurance. I canceled my remaining visit and will never return to the North County Eye Center. read more

I don't know what all the negative reviews are about. The office staff were pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely. The technician I had was funny. I saw two doctors and both were kind and thorough. I was seen for diabetic eye check up and prescription appointment. I also had a woman help me choose glasses. All very nice. Great MD and Optometrist. Stay away from the in-house concession eye glass seller. After three unique instances of failure to fulfill an order, the lens fell out of the frame. Not a good choice for eyeglasses or customer service. It's best to take the script and run to some other place, best much better options include Costco and WalMart. read more

I have been going to see Dr. Lillian Lee for quite some time now. I'd say close to 10 years. I am always impressed by her skill and Knowledge but this is the first time I have ever wanted to write a review. I came to an appointment recently and met her new Technician, Jessica. I have never been treated by such kindness and respect when coming to any Doctor as I was with Jessica. She was thorough, knowledgeable, and to the point, while still making me feel like she cared instead of hurrying me along. Answered questions I had, made me laugh, and made me leave the office very pleased and satisfied. Dr. Brian Le, and Dr. Searson have taken care of my wife's and my vision for many years, providing excellent service. In 2017 we both had Cataracts removed by Dr. Le and now have 20/20 vision again. This office is extremely professional, with hi-tech equipment, caring staff, and the results are outstanding. I would recommend this practice to anyone seeking any level of eye care. read more

Hum, I wished I'd checked out Yelp to see their reviews at their other office locations. Then, I probably wouldn't be writing this review. It's clear when walking into the office lobby that this office is more into marketing their glasses, than maintaining an image as an optimality office. It wasn't that busy but they had no less than two attendants waiting to sell their glasses. While waiting for my turn, a large Hispanic family entered the office to check their mother in for an appointment. One of the two receptionists told them that they might not be covered under their plan. The only English-speaking person, the eldest daughter, said that their plan was waiting for the office to call them, with the promise to the family that they would convey their coverage. Still, the receptionist hemmed and hawed, only to be interrupted by the other receptionist stating, "We're not a provider!", implying, I suppose, that it wasn't their duty to call anyone for coverage. That kinda pissed me off, as I have run into this same scenario through my HMO, better known as "mangled care". As a result, the family had no alternative than to drive back home. After they left, the receptionist who said they aren't a provider told the other that the family had called earlier. "Damn Lady, if they had called earlier then why didn't you get their coverage straightened out then, or advise them to not come into the office!" Again, the place was not busy, and these two individuals didn't even need to get off their ass to call the family's medical provider. How lazy can you get! I finally got into the see the doctor, and she game me my exam. Then, she put some drops into my eyes to dilate them for the cataract test., telling me to wait in the lobby for about 10 minutes until the drops took effect. She also, of course, mentioned to check out their assortment of glasses for sale. Well, after waiting twenty minutes, I asked the receptionist if the doctor had another patient in the room. She said yes, and that they need to keep things moving that way. Crap, are you kidding! I've never had to wait for the other patient to finish their exam, before completing my exam. Never! So, I waited over 1/2 hour and then decided to get the hell out of there. The clinic is a scam, very unprofessional, and they should all be ashamed of themselves.
