I got a phone call the day prior to my latest appointment letting me know there was a problem with my insurance on file. that's a huge plus in my book; had I gone in for my appointment without clearing up the insurance coverage, it would have been a very expensive visit and a headache to fix retroactively. So the heads up was much appreciated. It gave me time to fix the issue and they were very accommodating about re-checking my coverage. I was referred to Dr. Lillian Lee by my optometrist (I have family history of glaucoma and some suspicious eye attributes, so need to be checked every 6 months.). I have been to see her about 4 times, and the visits have been thorough and comprehensive. Dr. Lillian Lee always explains what she's watching, and I leave feeling informed about my eye health.

I try to be fair in my reviews but this I cannot overlook. We were sent here by referral to have an…read moreeye refraction exam for my Father. Days prior I received 5 notifications to confirm appointment which I acknowledged each time. I thought that was excessive granted this was an important appointment that we had no choice to attend. I never received anything else what to bring, what is needed as we assumed eye measurement only. Anyway, accompanying my Father, she was asking many questions and he is hearing impaired. I tried to intervene a few times and she was abrupt and condescending in her words to him. We didn't bring a list of his medications and his eye medications were in the list from the referred Dr. When she asked what eye meds he was taking she asked do you wait 15 min between eye meds? My Father said no, then she immediately lectured him that it's useless and went on and on. The energy in the room changed as I felt her attitude was just simply rude. My Father waits 3-5 minutes in between per his instructions on the package. If she had listened waited for him to respond instead of lecture then he would have spoken. I tried to retrieve his medication list but this office has NO internet connection. Again, she could have retrieved the info from the referring Dr. So in comes Dr. Lee. Her bedside manner is not warm and welcoming. She looked at my Father for under 2 minutes when I was getting a call from our referring Dr which I thought might be important. I kindly asked if I can take the call and told her who it was. She had a blank look on her face and said she was "DONE" with the exam!!! BTW there is a piece of paper that says no phone calls in the room. I totally understand. However, this is the referring Dr which is giving this Dr business!! I was appalled by this behavior. I get you can be strict and controlling with calls, but again, referring Dr calling could be important and it was not a personal call!!! I did let our referring Dr know of our experience here. I also looked at the reviews after and there is a concerning pattern how others our treated with this particular team. Please treat the elderly with dignity. Kindness goes a long way!!!!

Even after moving to different parts of San Diego County, I continued returning because of the quality of care provided by Dr. Mashouf and the professionalism of the entire team. Recently, my glasses broke while I was playing with my sister's dog, and I stopped by the office hoping for some help. The experience started off a little frustrating, and I didn't feel my concerns were fully understood at first. However, after I asked to speak with a doctor, Savannah stepped in and completely changed the experience. She took the time to listen, looked into the situation, consulted with management, and followed up with me the next day. When my replacement glasses were mistakenly sent to an old address, Savannah went above and beyond by personally driving to the home and leaving her business card in an effort to help recover them. That level of customer service is rare. While the situation itself was frustrating, Savannah's professionalism, persistence, and willingness to help turned it into a positive experience. After more than 15 years as a patient, I can confidently say that Dr. Mashouf and the medical team have earned my trust. No office is perfect, but how a team responds when something goes wrong says a lot about its culture. The care, accountability, and follow-through I received reaffirmed why I've remained a patient here for so many years.

I took my daughter there nearly…read morea year ago and she had wanted contacts, I told her that she would have to pay for the contacts side of things and I would pay her back after three months, and she agreed. Well, she paid her cash that she'd saved, and the young man was a little flustered about taking cash (like he didn't know what to do with it). He had problems printing out a receipt, so we said we'd get it on the way out and we forgot. Six months later Scripps says we didn't pay. They have been "looking into it" supposedly. I have even gone to see their billing dept. we had even told the doctor that she'd paid cash because she was proud of herself. Now I am stuck with another bill! A year and a half ago, Scripps head surgeon of neurology diagnosed me with a brain aneurism, his radiologist disagrees, and so did other neurologists from other hospitals. My ent misdiagnosed my cancer (that I had) and he didn't medicate me correctly for an ear disease I have. So I left. They have always managed to notch my family's accounts - but this is a biggie - this sounds like a problem to me in Rancho Bernardo ophthalmology. And why did I need to make a category, did they take the old one down? I will continue re-posting. What happened was very wrong! My 12 year old worked hard for her money - and now it's just missing! I don't know the gentleman's name who was working there, but he was new and young and African American. I've been back a few times to talk with him about this, and he wasn't at the desk. He might have put it in the wrong account, I don't know - I just want to get this taken care of.

In April I called and scheduled first-time appointments for my (adult) son and myself with Dr…read more Lozier to get new glasses prescriptions. The girl scheduling the appointment assured me that even if my insurance didn't cover vision, that since it's a medical procedure (getting dilated, checking the health of the eyeball, etcetera) that it would be covered, in both mine and my son's cases. Fast forward a month or so and I'm receiving a bill for my son's appointment, while mine has been paid by our insurance. After much research with both the Arch Health billing department, my insurance company, and actually having to pay three visits to Arch (the facility where Dr. Lozier's office is located) to provide them paperwork and pick up paperwork, it was finally discovered that the doctor had coded my son's "diagnosis" as near-sighted, which means it's not considered medical, and therefore not covered by insurance. All fine and good. However, had I been advised of this or even had it brought to my attention at the time the appointment was made, knowing he was only getting a new prescription for glasses, I would have had him to go Lenscrafters and paid $69, rather than the $265 Lozier's office is billing me. This morning I spoke with someone at Dr. Lozier's office whose name began with an N, which is the only part of it I understood. I attempted to (very nicely) impart my confusion and ask if there was anything that could be done to help me, since I cannot afford this charge. Rather than allowing me a partial word, N instead thought it best to simply talk over me and ignore anything I tried to say. I even verified with her that she could hear me all right, and that there was no lag time in the line, because I couldn't understand why anyone would interrupt and talk over someone when they were clearly speaking, particularly in a professional setting, and especially because I wasn't raising my voice or being mean or using bad words at all. I was just confused. I don't know about Dr. Lozier's doctor rating or whether he's a good doctor, he seemed like a nice man. But because of N's behavior on the phone with me this morning, and due to the fact she refused to even listen, much less try to do anything to help (or at least pay it lip service), that alone will prevent me from ever seeing Dr. Lozier again. Probably won't miss me, apparently he's so busy he can hardly fit in patients sideways as it is, according to the folks I spoke with in his waiting room the two times I was there. Find another eye doctor, folks. This one doesn't need you and his support staff REALLY doesn't need you.
