He explained I had severe dry eyes and gave me a plan to help. It's been 2 months and having had eye pain for years, I no longer suffer. I now use Oasis artificial tears (preservative free), OcuSoft eyelid scrub and warm wet compress on eyes everyday. My eyes never felt better. He did not try to sell me glasses I don't need or talk me into surgery I don't need. One opthamologist even tried to put a needle in my eyes and wasn't giving me anytime to even think about it so I walked out. Give Dr Bloomberg a try. You will be very happy you did.

He wrote up the paperwork for high-index. Never once asked about 1.67 vs 1.74 and the chromatic issues caused with my astigmatism. No, he just charged me extra for "high index" lenses, then ordered me some polycarbonate bottlecaps. This really is fraud, but I'm too busy to deal with it. My old glasses are still fine and the prescription didn't change.

Everything was carefully and clearly explained to me. The prices were very reasonable. They took my insurance (EyeMed). They have a lovely interior. It is extremely clean, modern, and comfortable. I liked the receptionist and the doctor I interacted with. Both were friendly and professional. I ordered some colored contacts and they got them for me in a day. They estimated up to a week to get them in, then beat that estimate by a lot. Nice. Their bathroom is very clean, well-kept, and smelled nice. That's always a good thing! Much appreciated. All-around very professional and friendly people here. I would definitely recommend them for all things related to eye exams, glasses, and contacts.

I went in November 2022 because my eyes were red & itchy (which was outside of the "normal annual" exam). Dr Schulkin was so kind to take his time to examine my eyes, gave me instructions how to settle it down with a warm towel, eye drops, etc, & to return the following week if the redness continued. I was expecting to receive a bill for $100 (as the receptionist had informed me before the appointment), & was pleasantly surprised to find out upon exit that I didn't have to pay for anything! I was thankful to Dr Schulkin! My eyes got better after a few days following Dr Schulkin's instructions. Dr Schulkin is a small business, local office, so I'm happy to support them. Additionally, I support North County Optometry by purchasing my eyeglasses from them. I know that I could order a pair at Costco for cheaper, but I always make it a point to order from Dr Schulkin's Office. Days prior I received 5 notifications to confirm appointment which I acknowledged each time. I thought that was excessive granted this was an important appointment that we had no choice to attend. I never received anything else what to bring, what is needed as we assumed eye measurement only. Anyway, accompanying my Father, she was asking many questions and he is hearing impaired. I tried to intervene a few times and she was abrupt and condescending in her words to him. We didn't bring a list of his medications and his eye medications were in the list from the referred Dr. When she asked what eye meds he was taking she asked do you wait 15 min between eye meds? My Father said no, then she immediately lectured him that it's useless and went on and on. The energy in the room changed as I felt her attitude was just simply rude. My Father waits 3-5 minutes in between per his instructions on the package. If she had listened waited for him to respond instead of lecture then he would have spoken. I tried to retrieve his medication list but this office has NO internet connection. Again, she could have retrieved the info from the referring Dr. So in comes Dr. Lee. Her bedside manner is not warm and welcoming. She looked at my Father for under 2 minutes when I was getting a call from our referring Dr which I thought might be important. I kindly asked if I can take the call and told her who it was. She had a blank look on her face and said she was "DONE" with the exam!!! BTW there is a piece of paper that says no phone calls in the room. I totally understand. However, this is the referring Dr which is giving this Dr business!! I was appalled by this behavior. I get you can be strict and controlling with calls, but again, referring Dr calling could be important and it was not a personal call!!! I did let our referring Dr know of our experience here. I also looked at the reviews after and there is a concerning pattern how others our treated with this particular team. Please treat the elderly with dignity. Kindness goes a long way!!!!

Even after moving to different parts of San Diego County, I continued returning because of the quality of care provided by Dr. Mashouf and the professionalism of the entire team. Recently, my glasses broke while I was playing with my sister's dog, and I stopped by the office hoping for some help. The experience started off a little frustrating, and I didn't feel my concerns were fully understood at first. However, after I asked to speak with a doctor, Savannah stepped in and completely changed the experience. She took the time to listen, looked into the situation, consulted with management, and followed up with me the next day. When my replacement glasses were mistakenly sent to an old address, Savannah went above and beyond by personally driving to the home and leaving her business card in an effort to help recover them. That level of customer service is rare. While the situation itself was frustrating, Savannah's professionalism, persistence, and willingness to help turned it into a positive experience. After more than 15 years as a patient, I can confidently say that Dr. Mashouf and the medical team have earned my trust. No office is perfect, but how a team responds when something goes wrong says a lot about its culture.
