Surf Taco is a fun place with a great atmosphere and good food. The prices can be a little up there, but then again, people pay for it (including me), so it's warranted. Many people complain about the lines being out the door (which I have never experienced, and I've been going there at least once or twice a month for four years). The Mediterranean Wrap is delicious, as are the chilli nachos. Pretty much everything is served with chips and they have a salsa bar with delicious hot salsa. I came into this Surf Taco expecting a continuation of the other local chain restaurants of the company, which I had enjoyed. I was with friends, and wanted a decent sit-down bite to eat. Shortly after I sat down, I knew I had made a mistake. The atmosphere was messy, possibly due to the lack of staff to clean up after customers. The food was average, albeit a tad greasy, and the service was mediocre. Usually when my husband and I have a craving for some fish tacos we head over to Fins in Bradley Beach, but last night we decided to try something new. It was super busy so I wont focus on how long it took to place our order let alone get our food once placed, I get it...they were slammed. The food itself was pretty lackluster and boring. I got the Carne Asada taco and my husband got a burrito with Mahi Mahi...both of our proteins were very dry and overcooked and my carne asada was lacking in the flavor department. The girl taking my order wasn't familiar with the menu, the food runner didn't see me and instead of continue to look for me or ask Someone where the order was going he took my food back and i would have been waiting forever for nothing if i didn't recognize my order in his hands. Today Sept 20 2018 @ 4pm I ordered the #1 combo with soft tacos. The soda was good. The taco was awful. I took 2 bites. I don't think it was beef. Mystery meat at best. I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. I used their mobile order app and watched as people who ordered in the restaurant received their food. After explaining that I had to leave for work and asking for a refund I was met with no service and had to leave the building with neither food nor a refund. We have friends that live in Neptune and they took my wife and I to Surf Taco. Wow. Changed my life. I am a big fan of Mexican food and this is a new take on it. Cannot say I am a huge seafood lover but being anywhere near the shore I feel compelled to go that way. I must say I was sold on the Mahi Taco. I will for sure eat here again. Place is a little small but they do offer outdoor seating but considering its location that size really did not bother us. I imagine this place is jammed over the summer though. Defintely recommend. There are a few other locations which I am sure are just as good. read more

Food is great, ordered the taco salad and garlic shrimp taco ingredients were fresh and were perfectly filling. They also have a salsa bar to go along with your meal and chips. Although, the customer service definitely threw me off a little. Casey, who i believe is the manager had such a miserable attitude and made it clear that she did not want to be there at all with her groans and constant attention to her phone. Surf Taco has gone down hill - I have been going for years and the restaurants are very dirty and slow. The one in Manasquan is better but the service has really decreased. I had to wait 40 minutes for take out in Belmar - unheard of. Maybe they need to teach their kitchen staff how to actually cook for the size and volume of the restaurant. Terrible- wont go back. I got Combo#4 with Maverick's burrito with steak and Surf Taco, chips and a drink. My daughter had Chicken Tenders and Chips. I really wanted to like this place since I went out of my way to try it out. The service was very slow and I had to remind the cashier that I was still waiting on my smoothie before he proceeded to make it for my To Go order. My son liked Maverick's burrito which I didn't get to try it out. Surf Taco sounded really good on the paper but I was really disappointed because it lacked flavor. This place serves low grade dog food! Seriously this chain is terrible. The food is very overpriced and they are skimpy with their portions. Nothing here is good the chips were the worst and the salsa bar is a joke everything including burritos and fajitas taste like out of a box or jar. Guacamole tasted like bad toothpaste. My friends and I always make it a point to come here for dinner whenever we go to the beach at Belmar. I love the food here and I've yet to have a bad meal. My only complaint is that the tables, chairs, and floor are always a tad bit grimy when we eat here. Once, there were parents who would let their children run around the restaurant while they ate, which annoyed my friends and I while we were eating. Also, someone managed to clog the one bathroom, causing a massive line for the other bathroom. Other than these restaurant atmospheric issues, I love the food here! read more

My wife and I love going to Surf Taco. Even in the off-season it feels like you're at the beach. We always order too much and end up eating all of it because it's delicious. I always order the signature 'surf taco' which has a nice batter and delicious sauce and pico de gallo. The only thing I would never order again is the chips and cheese which is just cheap cheese half melted over chips. Blah. We always enjoy a trip to Surf Taco. The shrimp tacos are great, but sometimes are a little "juicy." When you order you can let them know to take it easy on the sauce. The prices are good and the monthly specials are a great deal. Definitely worth a visit the next time you are in Belmar. read more

Nothing really to complain about here I have to say this food was superior unlike other surf taco places that I've been to nearby this one was so it was good I think it's because I try new food but it was good I got barbecue chicken wrap thing good chips homemade to the max my friends also enjoyed it also the customer service was good too I asked what's the best thing they can get here and the gimme good choices but I don't eat much things to be honest but I do love Mexican so much worse as good as hell and my friend Scott showed us from the so machine and we met some people plus it was a long drive so that was annoying and my friend over chips and then quite receive them but but she didn't care she said I don't want them anymore anyway because our food came with chips so anyway I will deathly come back except it's just too far so maybe somewhere closer by but if you live by Belmar I would definitely recommend checking out checking it out read more
