The food is amazing. Fresh. Delicious. Perfect temperature. I ordered the Chicken Mole and my husband ordered the Al Pastor Quesadilla. The mole sauce contained layers of flavor. The combination of pork and onions in the quesadilla was perfection. The amount of salt on the corn chip appetizer was flawless. The green cilantro sauce was both savory and sweet. Both our dishes were accompanied by rice and beans. The atmosphere is homey and casual. Parking was easily found on the street. The bathroom was immaculate. The service was excellent. Not only was the food delicious but they give you a super size portion. The plate is the size of my forearm. The bistek was perfectly cooked (no hard/crunchy spots and not too chewy) and they had a generous amount of cheese on the nachos. The chicken and bistek in the quesadillas were tender and savory. Unlike any other Mexican food We've had before. We absolutely loved all of it. Nachos were unique but very good, everything was seasoned well not overly spicy. I say it all the time, thank God for Yelp, Trip Advisor...etc, because "another" place I might drive by because of it's unassuming exterior and location, this one among thousands I've probably driven past while traveling around this country throughout the years without this info being as accessible. Walked in and interior was as spartan as can be, kitchen type chairs and tables for 4 spread out around the room and at 1150 hours, we were the only patrons. Read in a couple reviews that people waited a bit of time to be noticed and greeted. So being forewarned is being forearmed and all that, I was cool if I had to wait and yes, we did have to wait for a bit, but I also noted that everyone in the kitchen was bustling and at 1150 hours they were probably prepping for the day, so that's understood. A man came out from the kitchen in an apron and greeted, us handing us menus. Very reasonable prices. When the man came back he asked if we were ready. I ordered enchiladas, cheese were not on the menu, I asked if they could do cheese and he responded "yes of course" "Red or Green sauce?" I took Red. My wife ordered the spicy pork tacos. She asked if they used corn tortillas and was advised yes. I asked for salsa and chips first. We were asked for our drink choices, I had a bottle of "Mexican" Coca Cola (see accompanying picture). She had a water. Salsa and chips came out. Salsa was Verde with fresh cilantro, excellent!! Chips were nice and warm. Main came out, which we were each sampling, enchiladas were piled high with lettuce, slices of avocado, tomato and tons of Queso Fresca. The red sauce was excellent but the enchiladas could have had a bit more sauce on them. We both enjoyed them immensely, lots of flavor. Small side of refried beans and rice. Tacos were loaded with bite sized cubes of their spicy pork stuffed into 4 soft corn tortillas. Both of us found them delicious. Quanity and quality of food was unbeatable. Price was very reasonable. SO here's the thing. This is probably the most authentic Mexican food you are going to get on the east coast, and they seem like a nice family run place - but because I lived in Texas for 22 years and New Mexico for another, though visited for 30, it's just not great. Average. I have had ALL kinds of Mexican, Tex Mex, Traditionl Mex, etc. and this one is like an Austin cheaper Mexican joint. Some good average quality of the food and flavor. The beans were awesome, but the salsas were just watery and non-flavorful. They made a special veg. request which was a plus, but how it was done was not so stellar. If they just used the beans as I had asked for (and ended up ordering on the side instead) it would have been so much better. However, the portions are huge, and my boyfriend's burrito was epic-sized, full of a good amount of chicken of average taste and quality. So we liked it, but didn't adore it, and though we would come again, we would try a few more in the area as well since this was our second and we hated the first! read more

After reading some of the positive reviews we came here for a late lunch. We had order a mix of spicy pork tacos, al pastor and chicken tacos, Fresh whole fish, chicken burrito..... Both pork and chicken tacos were Very dry without much flavor. Also the Al pastor and the spicy pork tacos were the same even though they had it on the menu as two different types of tacos..... Maybe I'm used to having good tacos in NYC and northern NJ. I really can't recommend this establishment because the food is not authentic at all. Ok this place is a little scary on the outside, and a little cheesy on the inside, plastic flowers are a little much ; ) BUT after one bite of the chicken sopes piled high with chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and cheese and you will be transported to Mexico ( would kill for a Corona right now). The handmade corn 'cake' base of the sopes were sooooo tasty a must try! Guac was good as were the beef and pork tacos but sopes were the star of this meal!! Cozy interior with plaid tablecloths and friendly owners who do all of the cooking. The excellent chicken or beef soups are served with tostados and a side of chopped onions, limes and cilantro to season to your liking. The burritos and tacos are overstuffed and served with sides of beans and rice. The homemade warm chips can be ordered with salsa or guacamole. The to go orders of guacamole are small and are packed it the avocado pit. They offer Mexican brand bottled soft drinks. The sweet rolls are baked off premises. If that's what you're looking for, you will be oh so satisfied. Me encanta. Best Mexican food in the area. If you live in Belmar/Wall, it's less than a 10 minute drive to go the takeout route (literally). And they offer FREE delivery! I've yet to take advantage of delivery but pickup is easy - tiny place inside and the staff is pleasant. I was in the area and looking for an easy bite when I found Azteca Restaurant. It is a very local spot, very casual, and pretty comfortable. The ambiance is laid back and easy and is good if you're headed out with someone you want to just hang out with. The food itself was delicious; I ordered chicken tacos and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. These were authentic tacos, double tortillas with no sour cream, little cheese, and cilantro on top. I really enjoyed my experience here and will be back if I'm in the area again. read more

I really wanted to like this place. We stopped by on Saturday for lunch. When we got there, we waited 10 minutes to even bedefinitely greeted - the employees looked right at us and seemed annoyed that we entered but we ended up just picking a table. We proceeded to wait another 30+ minutes to even have our order taken. We were ready to leave. The staff looked very stressed and understaffed the whole time and it was very obvious.
