This is a new business recently set up in Carriage Square, it's the 1st unit which was formally occupied by a coffee shop. The name Puerto Escondido means hidden harbor. Why? One would have to ask the owner Jaime who hails from Oaxaca, Mexico. The place is spotless. There are approximately five tables. From what I could see in the time i was there was mostly takeout. The owner waited on me directly. I ordered Gobernadores, a plate of 4 tacos, $14.5 see menu. And to drink...coconut horchata. The meal was delicious. I'm sure they have to get the kinks out, for starters...removal of the coffee, shop, sign, and lower the regional music, since it would be hard to have a conversation. Jaime speaks good English. They also serve breakfast. Hours: Mon-Sat 9am-9pm Sun 9am-7pm Uber Eats & Door Dash

Recommend Octopus, shrimp and fish tacos. Paired with Coca-Cola it hits the spot. Food is made to order so it might take a little longer but worth the wait for fresh food.

They make their corn tortillas for the soft tacos fresh to order and they're SO GOOD!

This hidden restaurant is around a 12 min walk from the shore and neatly packed with long tables perfect for bigger parties (4 to 6 people). The few times I've been there, there had only been one waitress manning all the tables, but she does a good job of keeping tabs on everyone. I haven't had a chance to try their other items on the menu yet, mainly because I keep going back for the grilled chicken chimichanga. Let me just say, it is heavy, cheesy, saucy and satisfying! Especially given the refried beans, hot rice, sour cream and salad, this is a hefty plate. Each time I order, it ends up in the to go box, ready for another meal (and I can't say I'm upset about that :) ) that's all from me, ty for reading!

We finally made it back -- and it was just as good as we remembered! I had the carne asada, which was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly (so many places tend to overcook it until it's like cardboard, but not here). My wife ordered the chicken torta, generously layered with lettuce, crema, and all the right fixings. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food is not only tasty but also reasonably priced, and the warm, cozy atmosphere paired with friendly service makes the experience even better. We're so glad we rediscovered this gem -- still a favorite after all these years!

The service, wait times, and overall cleanliness were all extremely disappointing. When my friends and I arrived, there was a sign asking guests to wait to be seated, so we did. After about 10 minutes of standing there without anyone acknowledging us, despite making eye contact with multiple employees, we finally asked a server if we should just seat ourselves. She responded with a rude "yes." We went to the back room to find a table and ended up choosing the only one that felt clean enough to sit at, as most of the others still had not been cleared or wiped down from previous customers. It then took another 15-20 minutes before a server came to our table, and close to 30 minutes just to receive chips and guacamole. Our entrees arrived roughly 45-60 minutes later, which honestly felt lucky considering the table next to us, who had three small children, had apparently been waiting nearly two hours for their food. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We came on Cinco de Mayo and expected it to be busy, but long waits don't excuse poor service and lack of cleanliness. I hope the restaurant plans and staffs more appropriately for holidays and high-volume nights in the future.
