Ordered the chicken burrito bowl with sriracha ranch sauce. The food was ok, but unfortunately there was a long red hair in my food which definitely ruined my appetite. Then, when I went to let them know and get a refund, the manager who came out looked for my receipt and started telling me he couldn't refund me because it's not there. He continues looking and telling me he can't do anything because he "knows" my charge didn't go through. The cashier who rang me up was super sweet and helpful. She confirmed that I had paid and it went through (I had even signed the receipt only 15 min prior). After about 5 minutes of telling me he couldn't find my receipt, I went to my baking app and showed him the charge and suddenly my receipt was in his hand. I was turned onto this place by my husband. I prefer local places as opposed to national chains. I was a fan of Chipotle. Keyword WAS. I am a bigger fan of this place. I like the freshly cooked meat. Plus there is more variety. You can get steak & shrimp or chicken & steak or chicken & shrimp & you can get A1 or sriracha. I tried the 'Chiwawa'. It was too heavy for me, plus it was dry. I prefer the bowl or a burrito. I do think the rice could use a little more flavor to it. Plus it's a bonus to get a free burrito when you have the frequent flyer card. The one thing I would truly like to see is instead of Styrofoam takeout container, I would like to see plastic that's easier to recycle or reuse. Update: The story gets even weirder. We contacted Grubhub to cancel the order and get our money back and they also could not get in touch with the store. But then an hour later someone from Bubbakoos showed up with 1/2 of our order. We were missing a Quesadilla and an order of chips with Guac, but the two bowls made it here. The driver was super nice and I tipped him because obviously this mess wasn't his fault. Leaving the review at 1 star because even though the order made it here, it was 1. Cold and 2. Incomplete. Plus I had already gone out to get us dinner elsewhere so now I'm sitting here with a tremendous amount of food. Food 3.5/5 It's fairly average--quality is on par with any Chipotle or other Tex-Mex style chain at this price point. The 1 star review is for the two times now, that I have been able to place a Grubhub order when the store is closed. The first time I waited for an hour and a half, before calling, repeatedly, and being sent to a generic voicemail for the number they have listed. The second time, I remembered what had happened the last time and called immediately after the order (I should have called first) and again, same generic voicemail. I called another store and was told that they are all independently owned so they're all allowed to set their own hours. Every where you can check online (including Yelp) shows them as being open from 11-9pm today. Yelp even has the 'Start Order' button showing on the page. Between the two orders I didn't get it's close to $100 that I had to work with Grubhub to get back. I guess Bubbakoos in West Long Branch is doing well enough that they don't need to be open on Sundays, and they're definitely doing well enough that they no longer need my business. Ordered here today for a large business. Order was almost 300 dollars. The lunch was for 1145 and the office called me at 1200 wondering where it was. . When food wasn't delivered on time, I called the restaurant and spoke with Owen, the manager. He told me it left 15 minutes earlier and to be patient. Honestly, the restaurant is only 5 minutes from the office and the staff has scheduled lunch shifts that begin at 1145. I asked him if he knew what was wrong because the office was very upset. His temper flared almost immediately and he told me it left so it is my problem. He said I have no right to question him and how dare I speak to him like this. When I got to the office, the delivery driver had left it in the foyer outside of three offices. No one was alerted that it was delivered. Anyone could have literally walked away with the food because no one was notified and it was in a common area at the entrance to an office building. Honestly, in this environment, a restaurant like Bubbakoos should question the ability or lack of a manager who escalates a simple situation when it was not necessary. I should have learned my lesson when I ate at the Bubbakoo's in Brick. Alas, I'm too much of a sucker for giving places a second chance, and I decided during a workday to hit here for lunch, instead of Chipotle (it was closer, I was feeling lazy). In two words? Overpriced garbage. Just as with the other locations, Bubbakoo's loves to express the fine art of up-charging for everything. Want mango salsa? That's extra. Want guacamole? Lots extra. Want some veggies on it? Extra! If you want to pay the "sticker price" for their burritos or tacos, you're basically limited to rice, beans, and maybe some tomatoes. I had to specifically ask what they didn't charge extra for, so I didn't end up with a $15 lunch. This would be forgivable if the quality was anything special, but it isn't. The meats are decent, but generally lacking in flavor, especially when covered up by the fairly bland rice and/or beans. Speaking of which, the portions meat are TINY, leaving your burrito to become a mostly bean, rice, and cheese roll-up. Must be a decent profit margin, considering they charge a whopping $7.50+ for these things. Hey, at least the service was friendly, but then again so are sleazy used car salesmen before they rip you off. When all's said and done, I ended up with a fairly anemic burrito without much in the flavor department, which cost me close to $10 after tax, and that's a fairly basic burrito - without a drink. My usual burrito bowl at Chipotle only runs me $7, is utterly loaded to the brim, comes with veggies and sour cream for free, and even free guacamole if you get the vegetarian bowl. I won't be returning here, or to any further Bubbakoo's locations. What a ripoff. read more

Giving 4 stars because I love bubbakoos, staff is great, foods excellent, vibe and atmosphere is good, my only issue is the steak, I paid $17 for triple steak bowl because I think portions are a little skimpy although fair, but I'd like to say that possibly 80% of all the steak I received was almost inedible, Chewy to the fullest and just didn't break down no matter how much I chewed lol, like chewing on a rubber band, that's my only complaint, every other meat is great, but the steak is cheap and for the most part inedible, which is weird because I've had it before where it was tender, juicy and seasoned great, but this time it was dry, super chewy and kind of bland ‍ other than that, no complaints, won't lose me as a customer which is almost 3-4 times a week, but maybe management or owners will take notice to the way the steak is going out read more

Also the people at this location were very helpful and not like machines found at the big chains. The staff is friendly and adamant on making sure you get what you want and they may even throw in a funny joke here and there. I really have no idea what some of these other reviewers are talking about when they say the food is not fresh...if you go in early enough in the day you can actually see the staff in the back kitchen prepping the ingredients for their line. And yes, the guacamole is fresh and homemade, they just put it into those bags to dispense it. Bubbakoos never fails to please. Furthermore, it's a build your own lunch place so the size of your meal depends on what YOU decide to put on it. If you're disappointed at the size of your meal well you can always add a ton of cheese, corn, lettuce, jalapeños or more salsa for no extra charge. read more

It was disgusting - The guacamole was old and turning dark. As other Yelpers mentioned, Bubbakoo's is a very similiar menu and food service style to Qdoba and Chipotle Mexican Grill. The staff is very friendly. They seem to have come to terms with the indecision most people approach the counter with when it comes to the life-changing decisions of what type of tortilla, what type of meat, beans, veggies, salsa, and cheese. The team was very patient and seemed to understand the importance of each exchange with each customer in crafting their custom meal. All of the ingredients looked to be very fresh and more were being prepared as I was there, which is a good indicator of quality. While I was at Bubbakoo's, I was made aware of the following facts: they are a BYOB establishment and they honor a student discount. I will certainly have to return in the future for an El Hefe and some packaged goods in tow. read more

Give me a break. (I still think I was overcharged, since the menu said $7.49 with your choice of meat.... but no need to be stingy at a place I'm not planning to go back to.) Second of all, compared with the chain stores, the steak portions were VERY modest. (I cringed a bit when the guy fished a couple of pieces out of the 'gutter' of the grill when they reheated the steak pieces...) For the record, I gave two stars (with some reluctance) because the service was good and the food was edible.
