After a day at the beach - this is my favorite spot to stop for food. I didn't even have the chance to take photos of the burritos we ordered because we were starving! They make their salsa on site and seriously pay the $1 more for the chips and salsa. My favorites are the baja & verde.

I'm a sucker for a fish taco so it was only a matter of time before I finally made it to Surf Taco. It's on the cutest side street in Long Branch, a block from the water, with tons of other shops and cafes around. You place your order at the counter, grab whatever sauces you'll want and then find your own seat. They'll bring your order over to you. I got the shrimp taco and mahi mahi taco, both were delicious and came with a hefty amount of chips. They were so tasty, but the mahi mahi stole the show. It was a perfectly sunny day so I sat outside, but the entire place is super casual and perfect for an easy solo lunch. So happy to have this on my radar for future trips to the area.

Not bad tacos. I was excited to try this spot after a day at the beach. It is only a mile or two inland from the water so an easy stop. We got a few things... I will start by saying my favorite was the queso. A slightly darker color than I am use to. Very enjoyable. I also got the a aloha taco which was not very good. I was disappointed because my chicken was dry and a little tough. The flavor was there I could tell it probably was good earlier that day lol. The queso was delicious and the crunch taco was also not impressive. I hate it was disappointing but 3 out of 5 because the portions were good and the service was okay, although my husband's food took a lot longer to come out than everyone else's...

This spot had limited parking, but there was street parking available. There were a few tables outside with a bunch more present indoors. They also had a small salsa bar with 4 or so different salsas to grab. Orders were placed at the counter and the food was delivered when ready. I opted for take-out, however. There was a good number of options to choose from ranging from tacos to burritos to bowls to quesadillas. The food came out in a timely and efficient manner. I had the Buffalo taco ($5.75) and a surf burrito ($13). The buffalo taco had chopped chicken tenders with Buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, and Pico de Gallo. It also came with a heaping amount of chips. I also added some hot salsa, which was not too bad. The taco was really loaded with a nice balance of all the toppings. The chicken was tasty, and the Buffalo sauce provided a slight kick. The tortilla also held up. The chips were okay, needed some salt. The surf burrito contained tempura cod or blackened mahi, black beans, cabbage, Pico de Gallo, and white cilantro sauce. This also came with a lot of chips. I opted for the blackened mahi, which was alright. It seemed like more seasoning needed to be added. The burrito as a whole weighed about a pound. Overall, it was okay, needed a little more sauce as it was a tad dry. Will I go back? Probably.

Look at that guac I just found out Surf Taco is only in NJ?!?! I have been getting this place every weekend in the summer since I was little. It is so so good. The ingredients taste so fresh compared to other bowl places. I've never tried something from this menu and been disappointed; there are just too many things to recommend. Plus the vibe of the place is cool and there are often bands performing on the stage outside which is nice to go watch after eating in the summer.

Plenty of tortilla chips come with each taco. You fill up more on the chips than the taco lol.

Popped in for a lunch time takeout bite. Very good setup for covid precautions. Many tables available for sit down l, though no one was sitting and eating. Service was prompt and fast!

Terrible service, rudely put my friend on hold 2x in the middle of our order saying he "doesn't have time for this." The burrito was ok, but all the tacos were filled with 80% cabbage and a sprinkle of meat. They clearly had a sale on cabbage...Pretty disappointing, the menu seemed like the food would be flavorful.

    horrible

$40 for one chicken burrito & 1 taco salad... both were terribly lacking... DO NOT waste your time or $ ... it's strictly a sh*tyy tourist scam... locals beware... you're welcome !

I was in the area and I decided to stop in and try Surf Taco. I heard so many good things about this place it was on my list of taco places to try. Surf Taco is located just down the block and walking distance to The Bluffs Apartments at Monmouth University and the beach. The minute you walk in you get a cool California West Coast vibe. The food is called "Coastal Cuisine." California ,Baja, Mexico, Brazil, and Costa Rica, is where the original founders surfed and lived. That's how their food menu evolved. All you have to do is take a look around and you'll see everything related to surfing including a video, hence the name Surf Taco. All food that you order is placed at the counter. Your given a ticket and a stand, and when your food is ready it is delivered right to your table. There is a dining room for eating in. They also have takeout, delivery service, and catering. Their menu is simple with a good selection of healthy items to choose from including VEGETARIAN , and you can get SALADS, BOWLS. WRAPS, COMBO MEALS, or SEASONAL SPECIALS. Surf Taco is known for a very large burrito known as the TSUNAMI. Char-grilled Chicken, rice, beans, jack & cheddar cheeses, lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo wrapped in two extra-large flour tortillas, smothered in melted jack & cheddar cheeses and roasted red pepper enchilada sauce. Topped with guacamole, sour cream & pico de gallo. Served with chips. If you finish this monster burrito by yourself in 15 minutes you will be put up on Surf Tacos Instagram! Quite a few have conquered this big boy! It's not available for take-out. If your like your tacos or burritos with fish, they have it. You can have a choice of MAHI or COD, and you have a choice of tempura battered or grilled. There is also Garlic Shrimp Tacos, Burritos, Salads and Bowls. They have 4 different types of wraps, Nachos, and Taquitos. Surf Taco does offer a KIDS MENU with several choices of tacos and quesadillas. You can get several kinds of SMOOTHIES and SHAKES, along with an AÇAÍ BOWL Never ordering before and not knowing how big their tacos are, I chose to try 2 of their BAJA STYLE ( which means it's spicy) SURF TACOS with Tempura style COD. I chose the pinto beans and rice as a side instead of chips. . My tacos came double layered and fully loaded with fresh battered Cod topped with pico de gallo, shredded cabbage, white cilantro sauce, and fresh lime. My tacos were packed with flavor, the cod was delicious and they have a HOT SAUCE BAR. So I added some tomatillo sauce on top. I was only able to eat one taco, the other one I brought home to gave for lunch the next day. The pinto beans and rice were also very good. I love guacamole, so I ordered a large with chips to share. That too was very good. My daughter ordered the MAVERICK BURRITO with Chicken. Char-grilled Chicken packed with rice, beans, jack & cheddar cheeses, lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo. Her burrito was a nice size and she really enjoyed it. Surf Taco offers dessert and it looked interesting especially the fried Oreos, but I was so full I couldn't eat another bite. The staff was friendly, and when placing my order the man at the counter taking my order was very helpful. Since you are near Monmouth University, FYI this Surf Taco can get very very busy. Sometimes the line is out the door. I will definitely be returning so I can try some of their other dishes.

I came here before heading to the beach, and I was very impressed with the food! I got the combo that comes with two tacos, a side of rice and beans, and a drink. I wanted a taco with cod in it, but I saw that the surf taco had white cilantro sauce (I don't like cilantro) so I decided to get the surf taco Baja style. I also ordered the mahi taco as part of my combo, and I was told the pico de gallo has cilantro in it, but I decided to get it anyways and see. My favorite was the Baja surf taco!!! It came with a nice crispy piece of cod, and the sauce they used was delicious. The mahi taco was very good too, and I didn't notice the cilantro in the pico. Both tacos were filled with so much food. I was full after just the two tacos, but still ate some rice, beans, and chips, but I wasn't able to finish it all since it was too much food. They had a nice salsa bar with 4-5 different salsas to choose from, so I tried a little bit of each. I was pleasantly surprised with how good and filling all the food was. I highly recommend coming to this place, since the food was delicious, it came out quickly, and it was all decently priced. My meal was around $15, and it kept me full for hours since we went to the beach after, and I didn't feel the need to fill up on snacks while I was there.

Of all the Surf Tacos the Long Branch location is definitely my favorite one! The food is always fresh, servers are friendly, and the salsa bar is perfect. Portion sizes at this location always feel like they are bigger than the more touristy spots like Belmar and Seaside. They usually have a mango shrimp taco on the special menu which is my go to choice. Other solid options are the original surf taco and garlic shrimp tacos. They also offer burritos, wraps, and salads. The burritos are soo filling! All tacos come w chips and you can pick your own salsas. Really good value for fresh options that will definitely fill you up!

Chicken tender taco and aloha taco ... Summer dreaming

Picture this. You've just finished up a day at the beach. Famished, thirsty and sun soaked, you leave on a mission to find something crisp and refreshing to chow down on. Surf Taco is here to solve all of your problems. And not just in Long Branch either. This Cali inspired taco haven has locations scattered throughout some of Jersey's most influential beach towns. My sis introduced me to this spot about a decade ago and I haven't looked back since. It's become a mainstay in my summer beach routine. The Vibe: Cool, casual and laid back. Reggae music fills the room and brightly colored paintings of tiki figures and surfers hang on the walls. You aren't the only one who is barefoot with sand in your hair- everyone else just came from the beach too. The Food: Standard Mexican fare with an island inspired twist. Yes, you can find all of your favorites (Tacos, burritos, dillas, salads) but they put a really unique spin on a bunch of dishes. I usually go with the chicken tender taco, a crispy chicken tender and some lettuce, pico and cheese all smothered in ranch dressing and wrapped in a soft tortilla. Other non-traditional dishes here include the buffalo solider burrito (buff chicken burrito, you guessed it) and an aloha wrap with fresh pineapple chunks and teriyaki chicken. Any and all orders come with a side of chips and you can get all the fixings at the complimentary salsa bar. Tacos are priced at around 4 dollars and a larger entree is about 8-9 (I've found that they raise their price points a bit every summer). I adore it here and am sure I'll be a frequent patron over the summer. Surf Taco- get yo'self to Jersey City!
